Thread: Why can't we craft bowcasters

I know bowcasters aren't that good, and the potential customer base isn't that big. But I don't see why I, as a master weaponsmith, can't figure out how to craft a bowcaster as a non-wookiee ws. I just want to make one. I want to make at least one of every weapon there is in the game. We have jetpacks, spacecraft, reversible engineering for spacecraft parts. How on earth is something as simple as a bowcaster not reproducable?
I've seen wookiiees howl and protest (where were the nova stormies with stun batons when you need them) until they got armor. And then multiple kinds of armor. I've seen entertainers get quests to learn new dances etc..., and armorsmiths get a long and involved quest to get the ability to craft rare armor.
What do you all think about a quest for non-wookie weaponsmiths to learn how to craft bowcasters? Some grand search for a wookiee weaponsmith in hiding or something along those lines? Or how about a quest during wookie life day celebrations where you could prove your worth to a wookiee tribe (as a rebel) or find a way to extort or blackmail them (as imperials) so as to earn a permanently learnable bowcaster schematic?
There have been a lot of new weapons added, where you have to have people loot you schematics and parts, and you get to craft them up. And the curb will bring more. But the weaponsmith in me calls out to build one of the simplest and most recognizable weapons in star wars lore.
Reply and post your thoughts. I'd like to see some support from the established weaponsmiths and the ones most vocal on the forums here. But all thoughts are welcome of course.

Doesn't bother me at all. If I had the option I still wouldn't waste the resources on making one.

Roll a wookie and craft one, then you will have "crafted every weapon in the game"

Speaking of "crafting every weapon in the game", I crafted a spear rack schematic yesterday. You need melee 2 to learn it, but it's just a damn rack of spears. I got all excited because I'd never seen it before and after my mind started racing I thought it'd be nicer than the NS Energy Lances... then I opened it up and saw that it took 40 units of any Iron and 290 units of any wood. Slight dissapointment ensued. . .

Tell you what, you give me a crafting bonus, and you can have a bowcaster specification.

Trying to equate Wookiees asking for and receiving armor with your desire to craft a bowcaster is just silly. Lack of armor put us as such a disadvantage that we could not be competitive in combat. Go pvp or pve without armor and tell me how you like it compared to your 90 comp. Crafting Wookiees get fewer items of clothing in which to put their tapes, making it harder to get the extra crafting points and the only clothing we can wear while wearing armor is a belt and bando meaning we have to give up the psg and/or the backpack.
Bowcaster crafting is an ancient art passed down through the ages from Wookiee crafter to Wookiee crafter and tradition dictates that we would never share those secrets with a non-Wookiee. Other races are simply too weak to build these massive weapons and you'd only end up hurting yourself in the process.

Because you're not a Wookiee. In canon, only Wooks can craft 'Casters. There are many things that Galaxies has correct when it comes to SW canon. This is one of them.

i'm ok with only wookiees being able to make bowcasters...after all they are the only ones that can use them
there is very little that wookiees get that make playing that species a good thing so let them have their weapon

The bowcaster is something which defines us as a people and it's one of the few things we have to remind us of that after the enslavement of our kind at the hands of the Empire. Many of us see the bowcaster as a Wookiee's birthright and it's value would be cheapened if everyone could make one.
