Thread: Weaponsmith Overhaul (or pity your sister profession)

Having dealt with some of most brilliant people to ever grace the Star Wars Galaxies Forums elsewhere, I'd like to get some feedback from weaponsmiths. In order to make the WS the "perfect" profession we need to make some serious changes.


All ranged weapons require "refined steel bars", obtainable from architects.


All melee weapons require "refined iron bars", obtainable from master artisans.


All melee and ranged weapons would require "refined ore bars", in addtion to the other items above, also obtainable from architects.


All weapons require sizeable quantities ofbone and hide(they need fancy handles, hilts, and grips.) Most weapons require both bone and hide. Some weapons require multiple types of bone (or hide.)


However, you still need to make your regular subcomponents (blaster handlers, mechanisms, and all that good stuff too.)


On the positive side, you can still make 3finished products without the refined items and organicslisted above. You can make WUKs, metallic sticks (you can only display these in your house like furniture, but they are called weapons), and uh, wooden sticks (these are furnitureas well.)


Also, tomake any weapon you now need to go back to your architect friend (you and him have become pretty close by now) and have them fabricate the "molding" for the weapon.Now you can put the "mechanism" into the"molding" and finally make your finished weapon.


Additionally,all the new weapons in the combat upgrade will require you to purchase limited use schematicsfrom armsdealers with jedi crystals!


Finally, you only have 3 types of melee weapons and 3 types of ranged weapons; but you can select the appearance of each!


Would these suggestions begoodfor the WS profession?


Would they be good for the overall community?

Even more work, even more resources...

Don't think these ideas are good. I just like it as it is. I don't like it that i can't make any weapon without an Architect with your suggestion.

It's not a serious suggestion.


It's supposed to be a satiric outlet of frustration against whatever his particular profession is. My guess is chef.

Sounds like EQ 2 weaponsmithing to me. Now if they can only figure out a way to kill us with a crfating station...

Id say hes an AS


I wouldnt mind more resources thou I like the diversity of finding them. Wuldnt mind more subcomponents either. The more complex the profession is the more dedication it takes, but I like it. Also It wouldnt hurt with more profession interaction. So I wouldnt mind needing Artisan or Architect components either (we do allready need some we cant make ourself, but for very few weapons). All in all Id very much see more dependance on other proffs think that would be good for the community especially if we needed stuff from a number of different proffs so it wasnt possible to dabble into being able to make it all yourself.

That is exactly the same as EQ 2 crafting. No thanks. EQ II crafting was very frustrating because of this.

Architechs have nothing to do in rl with making weapons why should they in the game?


Why can't I solo anything anymore? now u don't want us to solo-make weapons?


Just leave well enough alone. Don't try tofix what ain't broken.

Thank you all for your feedback.Yes, I am an Armorsmith I glad most everyone saw this post for what it was: sarcasm. I have no problem with some inter-profession dependency, however, this level of dependency is ridiculous and should not be imposed on any profession. Some dependecy yes; the ability to make 3 items (none of which are related to your professions title) without dependecy is way too much.

We appreciate your insight into what our world may be like. Our profession forum would not be complete without it. I was starting to feel that a few too many posts around here actually had to do with Weaponsmithing. We appreciate your help in this aspect.


I, for one, will be personally starting a petition on your behalf, and if it comes to it, a hunger strike.
