Thread: Pre-CU Component Nerfage

Anyone see this tidbit for tomorrow's ServerMaintenancein the Announcements forum?
On Tuesday, May 24th, 2005 at 4:00 AM PDT all servers will be taken down for maintenance. During this maintenance we will be running a database conversion to fix the following issues:
- Fixed the following problems with converted armor crates and also with armor already pulled from these converted crates
- Armor pulled from converted crates did not have correct general protection values (they were too low)
- Assault and Recon armor pulled from converted crates did not have correct energy and kinetic bonuses and penalties
- Armor pulled from converted crates were not having the proper scripts attached.
- Armor pulled from converted crates did not have correct general protection values (they were too low)
- Corrected a problem with Nightsister Armor Layers, RIS Armor Layers and Dragonet Armor Segments not showing the proper health bonus
- Removed incorrect additional modifiers from converted weapon components
- Corrected the weapon speed on converted grenade crates and grenades pulled from those crates
- Fixed a problem where the attack cost on converted lightsabers were getting set to 0
We are expecting all servers to return to service by 8:00 AM PDT. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your patience.
Sounds like, at a minimum, legacy stocks will have their damage stat nerfed. So anyone sitting onastash of themfor custom orders and whatnot, this might be the last night for 'em! Which wouldn't be so bad, if they'd also properly upconvert all the tissues, cubes, agents, shards and everything else that we spent tons of money on!

hm wonder if my stash of yellow geo cubes will get a damage stat again.

Luckily, I'm almost out of my pre-CU stocks. No mention on there if they're doing anything about the now-uselesstheme-park loot though.

Damn that sucks. I have like 40 crates of pre-cu stocks lying around still. Oh well they will still be better than post-cu stocks and might actually make imp stocks worth ALOT now, even more than they were. Question is will they nerf imp stocks too and just leave the actual -.05 speed mod on em. Be great if they actually redcued the speed by -.5

I say leave the IMP stocks alone (i tend to have a small stash)

, i do hope this means that all the precu vibro units and barrels get converted this time round, is obv that they know whats happening with the stocks and remove that added bonus we had , surely they will take with one hand and give with the other by converting those components , then again lets not hold my breath huh

Well I reported this as well cause really it isnt fair that people who have been lucky enogh to have a large stock should be so much better than what everybody else can come up with, still Im a bit sad cause now itll be a lot tougher to hit max dam cap oh well

Now that they've taken care of this maybe they can focus on correcting the conversion that ruined any pre cu krayt power handlers. /sarcasm off ,I,,

This kind of envy really sets me off. I had one case of stocls that converted over with the bonus. I had dozens of cases of weapons that I had to trash because they converted like crap. Like I am going to get compensated for that. The minor advantage that people would have had from this would have been easily negated through time. Thanks a pantload

Well for me it aint envy I had about 20 crates left. I wouldnt have a problem with these being ingame if there were some way to rach the same damage level after CU, but the fact is that the stocks made weapons that you couldnt reach with any kind of enhancements available.
And you would never be able to.
I myself am a veteran smith and I think veterans smiths should have benefits from all the hard work we have put into the profession, but it shouldnt be something that new players could never ever work themself up to get.
Please stop making false assumptions and start namecalling because we dissaggree thats no way to have a sensible debate.
I do agree that we should get some kind of compensation for the stuff we lost with the conversion. Id very much love for krayted components to get converted right and the same goes for weapons, but just because we got screwed in one area doesnt give us the right to screw newer players in return.
Our compensation shouldnt come at the cost of other peoples enjoyment of the game.
