I won't quit, at least not right away. I'll see how bad the crafting changes are, and then decide whether to drop WS or not. Just in case I'm stocking up on nice weapons for myself right now.
However, if I get into the WoW beta, and the crafting changes are as bad as I think they are going to be, then I'm outta here.

First of all, I haven't heard or read anything that says they are making as grand a change as you imply. Posting silly polls like this only incites flaming from those that will jump at any little rumor. If you have something to say, spell it out so everyone understands what you are saying, and back it with a little bit of proof. Otherwise you are just wasting valueable time typing it out.
I'm sorry but I have to disagree. Even if what is being said in that post were 100% truthful, which would be a 1st in itself, then it really reads like this.
The economy is broken because we, SOE, had too many credit dupes, too much credit farming, and in a vain attempt to hold the player base we have also created easy cash flow and uber weapon loot. Now, because we did all of that, we have to find some group to use to try to fix it, and once again WS is the easy choice.
On top of all of that the post makes no sense, here's a quick WS poll.
If it's a choice between max damage and less HAM how many of your customers will pick less HAM?
ROFLMAO!
Answer: ZERO I have never once met any one in this game that ordered up lower HAM at the expense of max damage. Period end of discussion.
Now, if the Dev's ever came to this forum, they might have a clue howplayers actuallymake purchases, but they don't so they don't. (As in how many Dev posts have we had HERE about this? Go look it up, the thread you reference is "In Test". )
Look, the bottom line is that players are going to pick Max damage, so this will make even LESS difference between us, and will make us compete more on price and less on anything else, because every single one of us has got to pull max damage 1st, last, and always.
Now, what it will do. It will make the uber loot even more valuable, and put more distance between the have's and the have not's in terms of weapons. It will also create a market in Tapes that I will bet will rival the cost of Holocron's at their height. Final effect will be to get more WS's living in Research cities.
Think about this, read that post carefully, it SAYS, that the lower grade resources will be impacted MORE, and this is supposed to help a new WS how? Let's see, if you started last month, or even say Jan. 1st. How well are you going to do on the resources you've had access to compared to someone like me, day one, who has pulled the best from every single resource change? Not well at all but MAYBE you could find something to sell. Under this new system, you will have no chance at all, none, zero, zip, zilch, nada. Because your second rate resources are even WORSE then they are now. Again, ROFL!'
The new improved process for becoming a WS is to start as a miner, while spliting your time in combat so you can make some money. After, what? 6 - 12 months, you MIGHT find enough resources that are better then what I have, not then what I will have because I will also have the new ones. but then you can at least ENTER the market. Anyone who doesn't think so, take a look at the pop date on Erco steel, on Chilastra it hasn't been beat yet and it's pushing 8 - 9 months now. WIth out Erco there are whole classes of weapons that no matter what you do to experiment you have NO CHANCE against some one that does have it.
Quick example under the current system. Childid just have a new steel pop, Ikawid, that is 62 average points, 124total score, below Erco in Conduct 50% / Overall 50%.
Erco Duralloy Steel643/983=1,626 / 2 = 813
Ikawid Carbonite Steel548/954=1,502 /2 = 751.
Ok? Build an FWG5. Now under the current system the Ikawid can at least make a showing against Erco, under the new system if you're using Ikawid and I'm using Erco you're not going to do very well now are you?
So, the post you refer to not only puts all of the burden, for the moment, of fixing the broken economy on the WS, it will not WORK!
Final point, the only thing that will fix this economy is a credit reset to undo the damage done by the duping and farming. Then a re-balance of rewards, with new and or greater cost money sinks. Anything short of that is just sticking your thumb in the dike. I have made millions, every credit of it from sales, and I would agree to a credit reset to say 5 million max, which is a fraction of what I'm worth by the way. Doing that would make more sense then this does, at least in terms of fixing the economy.
So, that is why I don't belive this is about fixing the economy, it can't be because it won't do it, what it is about I'm less sure. I assume it has something to do with the Dev's long term vision, say 12 - 18 months from now when natural chrun will have removed a lot of the ppl here, and the nerf churn will have gotten rid of even more.
In any case it should be interesting. . .
It scares me that they are so out of touch! chysalide's post is so full of holes its not funny, well here's hoping because atm that's all I got!
