Perhaps a silly question but I want some opionion.

As a advancing weaponsmith I yesterday made my first C12 grende. I put it on the bazaar and it sold within an hour. Before I go into possible factory production of grenades I want to hear opinions.... is there demand for grenades? What price do you sell them by? Grenades are only usable by Commandos, right?

I sell TONS of grenades, they are tough to make but I have a screenshot of one of my master commandos doing 2 BILLION, yes BILLION thats 2,000,000,000 points of damage to a lair after killing everything guarding it with one of my Proton Grenades. http://www.rabiddogsofhell.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=12828you may have to register to view this.

hehe, ofcourse it would have to be after he is master so as not to give him the combat xp (masters are who qual for proton nades). Bet he wished he scored like that when grinding that very slow 'combat xp' for his far left skill box.

Of course, that 2 billion number is equal to -1.

I would think it was more of a bug than actual damage.

C12 grenades can be used by anyone. C22 and up is for commandos. I started to sell C12s at tech 3 (dom't remember if I made/sold before that).

Grenades has become my niche. The good thing is that most masters don't care about making grenades since they take long time to make in factories.

My grenades have been selling pretty well. I sell C22s for 900-1000 cr for a stack (damage is between 1600-1700 max dam with pu). Most of the time when I look on the bazaar my grenades has much better stats than anything else.

I think my price is pretty low. I could probably raise above what I charge, but I don't because of

a) I want my sales to move fast. bazaar space is limited (usually hit the 25 item limit)

b) I want Commandos to actually buy them. If price is to high they don't think it is worth it (and they miss a lot).

c) I want to build a reputation of having good products for a fair price. I also want to attract them to my shop.

d) I don't want to give other WS bad ideas to move into my market because of a high profit margin.

I also make grenades so I have something else to make thna just grinding barrels. I still grind a lot and you get a lot more XP by grinding/practice than making grenades, but it is more fun to make something I can sell.

My next move is to get munition 2 so I can make Cryo/Glop but also to make mines (there are never any mines on the bazaar). After that I will continue my way up firearms tree (only got lvl 1)

I'm using C12 grenades to grind through the rifleman combat exp tree. It's a lot faster than gaining combat exp "normally" but I go through tons of grenades - a crate an hour or more. They don't seem all that useful for PVP since the HPBC and other heavy weapons havehigher damage, longer range, better accuracy at ideal range, and lower HAM.

People won't pay enough for crates of grenades to make them worth the factory time, so most people don't make them. Why tie up factories for a day to make 4 crates of grenades that might sell for 30k each when you could make dozens of weapons that sell for 10k+ each in the same time?

I've gotten into making grenades - having produced over 80 crates over the last two weeks. Making proper large scale runs requires a lot of schematics and co-ordination (e.g. I have seperate schematics for light warheads for C12s, C22s, Glops, Cryobans and Protons and so forth) and takes days of multiple factory runs to push.

Thing with grenades are it's an expendable item but no less takes time, resources and energy that could be spent making double to triple the cr/unit count you will by making grenades.

That being said, I find that I don't move guns very fast at all. I find small factory runs of various guns keeps my store well stocked for weeks.

I basically sell my grenades at around 8cr/resource if purchased in crates. There is a good market out there, but you won't make the same return as guns - but if you're in a position like me, that's neither here nor there. Grenade effects are also pretty cool - my favourite is the cryoban. Go try throw some sometime.

I also don't believe 2 billion damage is attainable - must have been a display bug or some other bug, but hey, not a bad marketing technique but they'll be upset when they don't get the same results

i just got throguh the experimentation tree and after finding out that people want master quality guns istrated making c-12's cuase i didnt realize everyone could useem...there decent, im not surewaht master could pull ofdmg wise on a c-12 but mine r usally about 110 min and 600 max dmg with an averge speed of like 4.1....my gernades have sold really fast, and becasue there only c-12' there pretty cheap, i dont havea facroty yet, but i think once i do i can sell them very quickly and make a nice little profit on them....plus there fun to use

Kershakk, why different warhead schematics for different grenades?

Bermag,

For simplicity and getting the most from your schematics. If you use a single schematic for say light warheads, you'll be using them in C12s, C22s, Glops, Cryobans and Protons. You'll run out of the light warheads long before your schematics run out for the grenades, forcing you to redo another set of grenade schematics. And in the end you'll end up with mismatched bits and pieces that you'll end up with so many bits and pieces it gets annoying - I know, I learned from this. Going to run a Proton grenade batch only to find you used the last Light Warhead Mechanisms on your recent C12 run. Argh.

This way, I have every component for every grenade type under a seperate schematic, so I will get the most from them. It makes keeping track of what components you have available easier. When I want to run more thermals I grabcrates ofMedium Warhead Mechanism [Thermal], Warhead Stabilizing Device [Thermal], Warhead Fusing Mechanism [Thermal] and chuck them in. Glops - grab my Chemical Dispersion Mechanism [Glop], Light Warhead Mechanism [Glop], Warhead Fusing Mechanism [Glop]. No need to double check any serials. It's as plain as day what I have standing by and I don't have to mix and match, ever. And it allows for easy mass production. I have multiple factories, each just churning out components for a particular grenade type (i.e. Factory 1 making Thermal components, Factory 2 making Glop components, Factory 3 making Proton components) so that when it comes time to make that massive run, you can just move them straight from output to input hopper. And this way you can let your factories run for days, and in the end you'll have over a hundred crates ready to go with minimal factory babysitting. Though, the grenades that take lots of components will take an extra tending, as there is no way you can fit components for 1,000 proton grenades in a hopper.

Maybe I'm being extra fastidious but this works for me, and I think that it's a decent system to run. You will however probably require a droid with data storage, but it's such a small outlay and it saves on sanity later.

Regards,

Ker'shakk

I understand. However, it seems a lot of extra work IMO. Seems easier to just remake the schematics when you run out of components (doesn't use that much resources to wast on the schematic; it is not like T-21s).

But I don't know really since I haven't started to do factory runs of grenades (I make grenades as part of my "grind").

Which grenades sell best on your server? Do you sell them on bazaar also or only from your vendor? On my server very few sell grenades, at least on bazaar (and with bad stats).

What sell best, single stacks or crates?

Do commandos buy Cryos at all? Damage is much lower than C22 and Glop. But it is cold damage. I made my first glops/cyos yesterday and have put up a few on the bazaar so I don't know how well they sell.

I specilize in munitions on Radiant.

My prices are as follows:

C12's - 12,000 a crate
C22's - 16,000 a crate
Cryobans - 20,000 a crate
Glops - 23,000 a crate
IMP Detonators, Thermal Detonators, Protons - 45ka crate (perhaps a little more or less depending on resources currently in stock).

I make a fairly good living and my name is slowing spreading among Commandos. The C12's move the most just because everyone can use them and it makes leveling up in Combat XP much, much easier than leveling with a gun where you get 10% of the kill towards Combat. With Grenades, it's 110% Combat XP

My C12's are typically around 200-830 dmg and my latest batch of Glops topped out at 1,800 dmg.

The main thing is to teach your customers the best way to use them which is to stand still at the ideal range and try to target things when they're bunched together.

I hit 2 stormtroopers for 4k damage with 1 C12 Grenade one time. Pretty good if you ask me.

The thing is, you need a tank to distract the target because you should never throw a grenade if something's attacking you. If you do, your grenade will do more damage to you than the attacking mob will.

Silly question, how many grenades are there in a crate. 50 or 25?

How does crates sell compared to single stacks? One advantage of selling single stacks is that you can increase damage with powerups (I might be wrong but I don't think people are buying powerups for grenades).

Are you sure that the damage you got on that C12 was real and not a display bug? I could understand you get increaded damage if it were armour piercing and the target unarmoured or vulnerable, but C12 is not AP.
