Thread: Good News! But some concern with whats on the TC at the moment....
YerocRolyat wrote:Not sure if this has been posted, but u only need resources with 910 quality to cap if this is the case:(909/100) *110 = 999.9
Its actually worse than that, because the buff takes resources over 1000 and applies the cap only at the experimentation.
So, roughly, this is NOT exact, a resource that was like SR 980, OQ 880 would cap at 100%.

This sounds like another one of those ideas that the devs haven't thought through all the way, like ADK's, resource kits and the new bounty hunter missions. Am I going to need an entertainer alt now to make sure I can get one of these buffs whenever I need it? It sounds like this is going to be one of those "must have" buffs if you are a serious crafter. The ramifications will be huge and, I suspect, not very good for the game--just another way to dumb down crafting.

well I will be unocking my jedi on one of my altsin a few days... guess I know what my new jedi alt is gonna be
No new smith will be able to compete directly with an experienced smith for some time. They would still need to do the village. In fact I would love to see the clothing caps go away for crafters as well.as it did for the combat classes. Of course that would only make it harder once again for new and mid level smiths. I understand the point of view that this may be considered damaging to the top smiths. I am one! I have plenty of resources that are over 400+ days old.
If there is something I am not understanding tell me, but as I see it this is not the end of the world. As it stands many of us did not get the top resources due to the resource caps taking affect... we all missed them because what we had we thought was better. I burned up several resource deeds just playing around with different stat resources. I enjoy the idea of being able to make even better weapons and always will.
I think it is just a moronic idea to add content to one profession that takes away from another. Entertainers have been getting the short end of the stick for a good while since the CU and i am happy the are finnaly getting some love.
As many others have posted i don't craft to make millions and millions i make more on loot than i do in crafting. I like being a WS because i know i can make some great weapons and sell them at reasonable prices so that anyone can buy them. Also i just like the fact that by selling lots of my weapons like this with high stats and low cost my weapons are out there being used and something i made is helping someone enjoy their game just a bit more.
It is true that there are quite a few crafters out tehre only for the cash, but to think that we all are is not fair to those of us that just enjoy our crafting. It would be like saying that because i see lots of afk ents. that all ents are just lazy afkers looking for handouts. Both of which are not true i like to look for the ents that are not afk and chat for a bit when not doing anything. True there might be alot of afkers out there but that does not make all ents afkers now does it?
Additionaly this is not a problem that just effects WS it effect ALL crafters that enjoyed their path to becoming a good crafter and does not want to become anotehr bot just churning out the same thing over and over. WE do not want to become this in the game anymore than some of the more dedicated entertainers want to be forced to just afk all day with no real purpose.
Yes it may be difficult for a new player to break into a crafting profession but it is also part of the fun. This game has been going for 2 years now and in that time you have to expect that there will be players with better and cooler stuff then a starting player. But all a new player that has a desire to craft needs is a helping hand and the support of a good guild and they can get to making "the good stuff" in a short period of time. In this game people should be about helping other and new players not just being concerned with what is in it for them, and the should most certainly not have the keys to the better crafting just handed to them.

Weaponsmith-
Increase WS experience by 15%,
Increase resource quality for WS crafting by 10%,
Increase assembly success for WS crafting by 10%,
Increase experimentation success forWS crafting by 10%.
just get rid of this one (the highlited one) for every profession and everything will be fine. at least in my stupid little teenager opinion it would be lol.
This isn't going to hurt any of the crafters.
Every stat on your weapons takes multiple stats to be good, it is highly unlikely that all those stats are 1000 on any resource you own. This will help established as well as upcoming crafters.
OH? What matters besides SR on final assembly of most melee weapons? What about UT only on Cores? What about OQ on scopes?
What about the MILLIONS many have invested in those 30k resource kits (basically 100cpu for resources) to get that little bit more.
I have 999 SR Kammris Iron for example. I either got it myself, or spent big cpu to get it in some form or another. Does my 10% increase allow it to 1098.9? I doubt it...it probably caps at 1000.
Now, MOST of the Weaponsmiths here I would say are using at least top 5 resources..I'll bet there isn't 10% quality difference between most of those resources either. However, it's that 10% that gives the edge of the next guy's stuff.
Next...What about the person who was selling the 999 SR Kammris Iron for 8cpu or 10cpu or whatever...that buff devalues that incredibly.
The cap already makes maxxed SAC/Max DMG weapons plentiful.
On Radiant right now, there is a very fine weaponsmith, who makes excellent products lowering his prices because he's a gazillionaire already basically. Now, if we all have the same products that basically smell the same and look the same to the consumer - lowest price will win (for at least the first time buyer). Before I hear the great customer service stories, that is a different market (custom work) primarily and I would agree every time that customer service is a big way to keep clients. Getting them in your door the first time helps give you an opportunity to service them well too though don't it?

... it actually will go to 1098 but it will be capped by the experimentation llimit at 100%. So you are correct ... in crafting single stat items like PHs with SR your 999 resource is effectively equivalent to a 908 SR one. It has less of an effect on crafting multiple stat items (CD, OQ and so on).
The resource stat will not be capped but you are still limited by the exp cap so 'uber' resource just became a much broader class of resources with this buff.

Here is what I had to say about this on the SW forum. Sadly the same can be said here.
You do not own a monopoly!!!
I am part of a small group of SWs that sell under a single name on Ahazi. We cannot keep our vendors stocked fast enough. The one in charge of weapons and engines was hand crafting over 400 pieces a week. I personally do Missiles and Ammo. Our stuff is the best on the server and we use top notch resources. We kept having to increase our prices to curb demand so we could keep up.
On my missiles when I use the best stuff and get all amazings I hit 92% drain and 91% mass. My Prot IIIs are 15 shot after maxing out the damage line.
Anyone who says "I will quit SW because of this buff" needs to just go away. Good Bye!
Your best stuff will still produce excellent components and now your secend and third tier resources will as well. The difference between a new crafter and a vet will boil down to who makes sure the take advantage of every possible crafting bonus available to them to get that last % point. Knowing how many points can be utilized where and what your clientle is looking for will be your advantage. This is how it should be!
If you think I don't have any idea about crafting then you are sadly mistaken. I am the oldest remaining Weapon Smith on Ahazi. I was one of the first 12 pointers. I cannot even fathom how many weapons and items I have created. I have more harvesters and houses than most guilds. After all of this I still embrace the idea of a resource buff. Why can't you? Are you that insecure in you ability as a crafter or your ability to serve those who use your services?

The thing is, most people are not complaining about new players getting an edge (at least that is not what I percieve as people greatest problem with this new buff)
The problem is that it will end any possibility of ever getting better as most of our resources allready go above 91% with the resource buff it will go to 100%
We need challenge and goals, take that away form us and we are nothing more than people assembling. I love seing a new spawn that improves jsut slightly on my product and this buff will take that away from me and many other veterans
this is not a question about marked shares, its not evne a question of fairnes (veterans vs new players) this is a question of keeping our whole profession from going stagnant.
