Thread: Thunderheart, would these two simple fixes solve SOE's database problems? No flame, a sincere idea.

Hedek I didnt miss-understand what you said. You went off topic far to much in trying to respond to my critique of your post. I have never had to dig so far to find what the hell someone is talking about. Twisted changes, perhaps there is miss-communication there but in every instance I understand, twisted is a negative meaning. However if you didn't mean it like that and are correcting yourself, whatever. As for you saying cool down for me saying its sickening. I didn't say you specifically make me sick, i said that because thats the feel I got from your post but if you didn't mean that then so be it.

"They like twisted changes." hmmmmm, insult...please don't change your mind and twist what you say to make yourself look better.

Now, I am harsh in my posts, as i stated earlier simply because I'm the only one on your board posting the opposite idea. If you all were a little more generous then I wouldn't need a flamethrower for your ice.

Wynan, It would simply make it easier for crafters because there would be less stuff to deal with, they can run around with infi stacks of resources and stacks of 1000 components which will make their 'machine' run much more fluidly. Now as things are your having to actually work a little bit but if things move more towards mass production like it seems yall would like, your gunna be able to trade lots with 2 or more people on other servers simply to have fields of factories that create items all day long, you dont need to worry about moving stuff around or worry about factors as such limiting your crafting capability because your running around with 7 million pounds of blaster handlers. Why not open up your mind and say that droids are needed to move resources and such so that DE actually have something to do instead of turning yourself into a one man machine? Thats the downside to this which no one seems to want to mention. Thats why I say its selfish, and also why I continue to rant and why It would allow crafters to craft morebecause you are moving more and more into auto craft mode. The best way to reduce load would be restricting the compacity of your factories. As far as i knew there isn't a 1000 item craft limit to a factory just a 1000 craft limit to a schematic so you just load another schematic into that up to 50 times or however many spaces a hopper holds? As things are currently you have to use thosecomponents to craft something or go put them ona vendor which I am assuming was not supposed to be a form of storage, but im not gunna speak for the Devs.

Little bump for all to see if they missed this great set of ideas on how to make crafting much more about the crafting and less about the logistics, of moving cratesand resources around, that is what defines it now

bump for a good idea, even if it doesnt decrease DB load by much itll make my SWG life much easier! im sick of losing all the space i have to stacks of resources, i had to make a tough call and clear up some space in my shop because i just have to have a display case, its neat and alot of my customers stop too look at it and comment on it, i enjoyed setting it up with the new move up commands too. lets take this to the devs, logix could you help us out a bit maam?

thank you darlin'

Please pardon me if I'm missing something, but how do these proposals ease database load?

I see how they give the CRAFTER more room...that much is obvious. Your 10 stacks of 50 become one stack of 500, so you now have 9 free spaces. And they certainly make a crafter's life easier. I'm all for that.

But won't people just fill up their newly gleaned free space with more stuff? In the example above, I now have 9 free spaces after consolidating 10 stacks into 1. Are people saying nobody would use these new free 9 spaces? I know I would. I'd fill those 9 spaces up quick. So I'm really not easing any database load, am I?

Great idea, but i would be glad if they only increased stack size and not lessening space reqs, like this:

Resources can stack infinitely high, but for every 100k it would take up one inv space so a 1M stack of resources would take up 10 inv lotsand still be one stack.

At the VERY, VERY LEAST make all crates hold 100 items, and allow us to STACK crates with the same SNs...

PLEASE..

Restackable crates would be awesome. Even if they didn't change the crate sizes, just being able to restack crates would be great. I can't tell you how many 2 and 3 unit crates I end up with after factory runs, just because of the order the factory pulls crates in.
