Thread: Ok Publish is live Servers up And yes the bug did go live And its not just us.....
This is un-f'in' believable. They touch Jedi, BH and Dancer and the whole crafting system's down the tubes? What the hell kind of code is this anyway??? My very favorite part of the game is now shot. Great work. Marvelous QA. Fine decision making. Helluva legacy for George Lucas.
If Tailor is any indication, we'll never see a fix for this either because this group of developers obviously has absolutely no idea how the crafting code works. And they KNEW this bug was there in testing and let it go live anyway? Well, thank Goodness I've got a new hologram for my house! That just f'in' warms my heart and makes everything OK. I'm just...

I can't get on for a few hours - did the bug where changes to stats during experimentation weren't showing until the weapon was crafted(issue onthe TC) go live?

Yes it went live.
It affects all crafters, not just weaponsmith....I've tested personally Armorsmith, Artisan, Bio-Engineer, Chef, Medic, Shipwright, Tailor, Entertainer, Dancer, Musician, and had reliable reports it affects Weaponsmith, Jedi and Droid Engineers as well. ( Keep in mind it doesn't matter to Tailor/Entertainer/Dancer/Musician since they don't really experiment anymore on anything but the bug is there.....)

??? What has this got to do with jedi? Are u brain-dead? If there were no jedi then I would have quit a long time ago, this game definately needs jedi to survive. Im sure all the BH would be soon to follow if the jedi all quit, dont flame jedi, Im a pre CU jedi, and believe me I put in the effort to be one.

Im sry I wrote this out of angerand frustration thus didnt phrase it well. Here we go again:
Just because the Devs cant wait to give no vis while grouping to jedi means that our entire gameplay has to be destroyed?
I have nothing against Jedi and I dont want them nerfed or removed from the game (thou Id like if they were a bit more interdependant, but thats another discussion), but the fact that Jedi seems to get 90% of the devs attention pisses me of (soIm not angry with the players, but the devs that made the decision that Jedi is the most important profession and takes priority over all other proffs)
Oh and btw I dont think this issue is caused by lag I think its an UI bug that causes both the resource stacks not to update, the Experimentation from not updating and the skilltape mods not to show on your character screen
(perhaps they tried to fix the resseting UI and this is what we got
)

I do agree on one thing thou wether I am right or wrong this is not the place to discuss the way the game is turning, this is a place to draw attention to the bug so let make peace

No I dont find this much better tbh. Im not going to report u [for foul language] cause I have no hate toward u, even though u are perpetuating the myth that its ok to belittle the profession I choose to play. That is what I disagree with here.
I would like to point out that I am not belittling your profession, again I have absolutely nothing against the jedi players and I have apollogized for my first phrazing, but you ahve to admit that in the last many patches jedi has gotten some fix or attention in someway while other professions has gotten none at all or have been made even more buggier than before.
Once again I do not want your profession nerfed, removed or in other way touched in a bad way I jsut want the same ammount of attention for every other profession ingame.
Jedi has had fixes in the last 3 patches, while vendor search was bugged for 4 months.. I cant even remember the last time f.ex. squadleader had a fix and now Im very very interested in seeing when we will get a hotfix for this mess they just introduced to the crafting profession.
I was getting the impression that u were an "informed" person but this behavior is just unnecessary.
In my opinion the game has turned towards a high attention towards combattant over crafters in the last many months (starting with the ADK and possibly even before)
However I must disagree again and point out that the most significant change I have seen in the game, since the CU is the additionalentertainer animations that really shows that the dev team take each profession as seriously as the next. Even when the melee animations were added back - there was nothing new, but here its starting to look quite polished. Imo no group vis should be regarded as content as it makes the profession so much easier and fun to play
In my opinion the attention dancers got was only as a plaster becuase their real value was taken out for the benefit of combattants (BF healing)
Theyre turning SWG into a fast paced action game with the main focus on the jedi (again not the jedi players fault its a dev decission and I blame them, not you)
Anyway back to the subject. The difficultly this bug present is one where u wish to fine tune a schematic to the best possible craft, without making lots of schematics and wasting a perfectly sellable weapon.

holy f'ing crap. I went away for 4 days, logged in. reaquainted myself, with my inventory and mails, then set about making my first item. Couldn't believe what i was seeing, or not seeing. what the hell?!. I am sooo glad i was just doing a weapon for RP purposes and not something really important.
I am an idiot for not checking the WS forum before logging in. I've done it religiously since i started in march last year.
Seriously, this is the retarded *shakes head in disgust*

You pinned it down. That is the worst part.

Same here. What I want to know is why there is even an issue with the exp not working right. I read the publish 20 notes again just now and there is nothing about any fixes done to crafters. This is like taking your car in for an il change and having it come back a different color. How can the devs be this bad? They didn't even touch experimentation in the update and yet somehow they broke it ROFL. I guess thier devs are that stupid huh?
As a programmer by trade, it's my professional opinion that when they fixed theImage Designergui issue, they modified a subroutine that EACH and EVERY CLIENT uses to update the client screens at a very basic level. This is the 'fix' I'm talking about:
Profession: Image Designer
- Image Designers will no longer see other players avatars in the user interface as swimming
Apparently they modified the code for ALL interfaces instead of just the specific interface used by IDs. It should be easy enough to fix if they back out this change or limit/localize it to the particular ID window.
It's also possible that due to the CTDs that ppl got when trying to play yesterday, they backed out a dll which had a fix for this.
Just my 2 creds
I have played this game for quite some time, and I don't need this "you noob" sort of replies. I am, just as you are, already pissed that such a bug has gone live. What I am saying is that this is more outrageous of a mistake (compared to all other nonsense that has been called "working as intended").
Besides, at least I am doing some constructive criticism, not bashing SOE. I have been doing for a long time, doesn't matter if I'm being taken seriously or not. I have been playing for 1.7 years already and I know what to expect, and what NOT to expect.
I am sure this will be fixed by a hotfix.
Let's cross fingers and stop accusing each other of being a "noob", we're all in the same boat here.

That is, this is NOT only seen on "experimentation", but it's a BUG of the details area of the crafting window by itself.
So, basically, the crafting windows in GENERAL are bugged. This "you can't see the experimentation result before making the weapon" thing can NOT be intended.
This would be stupid, and makes ABSOLUTELY no sense. This can't be intended. It's a general bug. Let's hope so...
This is the main argument FOR it being "intended." You can bet if it defies all logic and makes no sense, SOE will make it happen.
Everyone knows this... How long have you been playing this game?

Also a programmer to some degree here, and this sounds entirely feasible. They probably made changes to whatever class is used to display data to the screen inside of a window in game (ie a very core class) and while it fixed the ID display problem, it caused far more serious problems.
Its still inexcusable. There is usually a Q&A process to find problems like this before they even hit the TC, or there should be. It seems extremely unprofessional of them. I would expect that there would be a standard set of tests for common tasks that Q&A would be required to perform before approving a change. I am sure they are under massive pressure from Management/Marketing to turn the game into KOTOR Online for the sake of sales, but this just seems so slapdash an update. The fact that it made it to TC, was reported by players and STILL went live is just unbelievable. That is NOT how you run a development cycle. I am sure the devs knew of this, wanted to fix it before it went live and got told it was going live anyways. Massive glaring errors like this are usually the result of Management or the Beancounters or Marketting making programming decisions they have no knowledge or experience to make.
I know if I made a mistake like this and put it live I would expect a serious repremand and more than likely to be fired on the spot. I suspect that nothing will happen though, sadly.
CertainlySOE Management owes the entire playerbase an explanation, an apology and some recompense. I would suggest the only acceptable thing is free gameplay, and *2* free respecs - one so you can respec OUT of your crafting trade and play the game in some other manner and one so you can respec BACK INTO your profession when they get around to fixing the bug a month or two (year?) from now. Silence only breeds the suspicion that they don't give a damn about us and that they are deliberately killing crafting, and that is not good customer relations.
Actually given their recent changes to the game I suspect that eliminating the player-based economy may actually be part of the overall plan for changing the direction of the game. They seem to be focusing on making it a combat-oriented game almost exclusively, with a focus on letting players become Jedi primarily and BH secondarily. I am probably wrong but without some sort of statement from SOE there is no way to tell.
