Has anyone else had the problem with conversion weapons having stacked scopes and barrels? (weapons that had visuals pre-CU visible components that now have the graphics blurred up with the new defaults)

and this is what bothers me the most ...

From comments made elsewhere, I obtained permission to share this info with you guys (since you'll be finding it out shortly anyway). Essentially, visible stocks and scopes on crafted weapons have been disabled entirely as a part of the next major publish, the Combat Upgrade. Helios details why this was done:

Unfortunately, as you know, the customized barrels/scopes had issues with other people seeing them as well as some issues with factory crafted weapons that had visual customization on them. In addition to those legacy issues, the crafting changes introduced in CU (aimed at ensuring balanced weapon crafting) caused more non-trivial breakage with the scope/barrel customization system. A decision was made to disable weapon customization for now - in favor ofcompleting a working & balanced weapon crafting system within the scope of CU.

It wasa hard decision because we all think that customized weapons definitely add some good flavor to weapons, but one that had to be made for the time being. Unfortunately, fixing customization the "right" way is out of the scope of CU so we'll have to look at it again afterwards. The flip side to this is that we now have some pretty good variety in weapons (new and old) which might make you want to use different weapons at different times, so perhaps we'll at least see people carrying a wider variety of weapons.

Now you know why, so there's no need to /bug this change when you see it. It is intentional, and we know why. =)

seems to be a theme

so far I have found scopes to be useless.. most weapons are already wound capped.. and the looted scopes add +20... waste of a perfectly good loot item

I posted this on my server's main page, I hope the data from it will help all other server WS's on their choices to use new Stock or Scopes:

Well now that I got my components research sorted out, today I wanna look into and present a discourse on how post-CU Advanced Stocks & Weapon Scopes affect weapon DPS, SAC and Accuracy. However, both will lower the speed of weapons they are used in.

Remember, the Stock now lowers Special Action Cost (SAC) & the Scopes improve Accuracy. I used some of my initial post-CU components which aren't top notch, however, they did provide a good, consistant constant as far as Advanced Power Handlers (APH's) & Rifle Barrels. I chose the Advanced Laser Rifle as a test weapon to compare 3 different experimentation methods on the Advanced Stocks but kept my Scopes constant.

The Control Advanced Laser Rifle (no stock, no scope) 470-976 (2.44) +1 Accuracy 138 SAC for 296.31 DPS

Advanced Laser Rifle(Full Speed Reduction Stock/partial SAC Reduction & No Scope) 471-982 (2.48) +1 Accuracy 124 SAC for 292.84 DPS

Advanced Laser Rifle (Half SAC Reduction/Half Speed Reduction & No Scope) 470-976 (2.51) +1 Accuracy 120 SAC for 287.57 DPS

Advanced Laser Rifle (Full SAC Reduction/partial Speed Reduction & No Scope) 470-976 (2.55) +1 Accuracy 117 SAC for 283.62 DPS

So the extreme SAC reduction is 117 from an intial 138 SAC, however, obtaining 117 SAC lowers DPS by approx. 12.69.

Let's look at an Advanced Laser Rifle now made only with the Scope:

Advanced Laser Rifle (With Advanced Scope) 470-976 (2.52) 286.67 +20 Accuracy 138 SAC for 286.67 DPS

+19 in Accuracy, that is one hell of an improvement and only a loss of 9.24 DPS.

Now let's look at both Stocked and Scope weapons...

Advanced Laser Rifle (Full Speed Stock + Scope) 476-976 (2.56) +20 Accuracy 124 SAC for 283.46 DPS

Advanced Laser Rifle (Half Speed/Half SAC Stock + Scope) 476-978 (2.63) +20 Accuracy 120 SAC for 280.03 DPS

Advanced Laser Rifle (Full SAC Stock + Scope) 470-976 (2.60) +20 Accuracy 117 SAC for 274.78 DPS

Here is where we see some significant DPS drops, a weapon with both any Stock + a Scope, the main extreme DPS reduction comes with the full SAC Reduction Stock + the Scope, the difference is a loss of 21.53 DPS.

The questions I have for the community:

1) Is a SAC reduction of 21 points on a Rifle a significant help to your action pool?

2) Is a Rifle with +20 Accuracy going to matter vs. +1? Do you miss often with Rifles, Carbines, Pistols or other ranged weapons?

3) Can you live with dropsin the DPS I've calculated forthe Accuracy Bonus and/or the SAC reduction?

ANY player feedback is greatly appreciated and will help all Master Weaponsmiths hopefully produce the weapons you want...

(note: the high end DPS weapons (Lvl 30+ I believe) will only take advanced components now, the lower end weapons use the standard stocks and scopes, so there is no possibility of using the basic add-ons to give lesser bonuses with less of a hit to DPS.)

Accuracy seems to effect how often I hit my weapons cap damage, more accuracy = more damage cause if a gun has a 303-666 damage stat I'll hit that 666 more freakvently!!!

You could say you hit those sweet spots better.
