i just got an order to make a DL44 (Han Solo version) form someone too. guess in good faith i should cancle his order for him, cause when the CU comes out in shure i'll get blamed for his gun's customizing dissappearing

I also just received an order for a custom DL-44 with visible components. I informed the client that they wouldn't be visible after the CU and they replied that they were aware of the devs decisionand wanted me to make the weapon anyway.

Man this is very disappointing. I have a whole wall full of custom pistols with various barrel and scope assemblies and with this little change, pfft - its all going to look boring.

It was a nice little perk that made the game unique. SWG is starting to become like every other game on the market. Sad, very sad.

I used to spend alot of time perfecting the look of all my weapons. I hand crafted everything to give it that unique look and I would often spend over an hour with someone working with them to create an arsenal that looked exactly how they wanted it and I would enjoy every minute of it.
I built weapons with specific combinations of components for roleplayers, Fett style EE3 for Bounty Hunters, Solo style DL44 for Smugglers and Pistoleers. It was great to be able to add a personal touch to weapons and it was one of the small details that made this game unique. Am I the only one that enjoyed this?

Its like if Tailors could only make grey clothes or if Entertainers couldnt use flourishes.

Its probably just me but I think they are removing a major part of our proffesion here.

Why would you want to kill somebody over that screen shot? Truthfully I'm ecstatic that they've finally fixed the graphics for the T21 and the Laser Rifle; however, they did forget the DLT20/a stocks. Aside from all of this my personal guess is that customizations are a bit more complex than just image changes. I'd also go as far to say that it's possible that the base frames have bugged associations withslot locations on weapons unlike character frames or they're just fubared. Characters havemultiple slots (back, chest, bicep, neck, head, etc) where as a weapon would have up to 3 customization spots to which a scope, stock and/or muzzle could be displayed.

Something that could be donewould be tojust creating all the possible skin combinations (stock, scope and barrels) and just having one generic reference point to which calls up the image not only for the owner of the weapon but any and all who view it. The only downside for this would be the time needed to develop, test and implement the changes.

Going from a system where you could only see it 1st person or displayed, to a system where it will always show or never show.I suppose its not exactly a forward motion in coding, but I dont really find it all that upsetting.

I find damage being balanced upsetting.

I find damage type being taken out upsetting.

I find most of the whole balancing garbage associated with the CU upsetting, but this?

Really, if you're gonna put so much effort in griping, go and visit the doctor's forums, or the entertainer forums, or squad leaders, smugglers, bounty hunters, combat medics, riflemen....

Or just pick a WS issue that is worth griping about. Worry about losing the stat customization of weapons and your overall value as a quality WS. Joe noob that spent 5 hours mastering weapon smith now makes just as good of weapons as you who spent 8 months. But, nah, lets all get freaked out over some bugged visuals instead. Whoooo hoooo, combat upset baby! Yeah!

How come light saber hilts can not only be customized but show correctly to everyone but our crafted Items just can't be done?

From comments made elsewhere, I obtained permission to share this info with you guys (since you'll be finding it out shortly anyway). Essentially, visible stocks and scopes on crafted weapons have been disabled entirely as a part of the next major publish, the Combat Upgrade. Helios details why this was done:

Helios_SOE wrote:

Unfortunately, as you know, the customized barrels/scopes had issues with other people seeing them as well as some issues with factory crafted weapons that had visual customization on them. In addition to those legacy issues, the crafting changes introduced in CU (aimed at ensuring balanced weapon crafting) caused more non-trivial breakage with the scope/barrel customization system. A decision was made to disable weapon customization for now - in favor ofcompleting a working & balanced weapon crafting system within the scope of CU.

It wasa hard decision because we all think that customized weapons definitely add some good flavor to weapons, but one that had to be made for the time being. Unfortunately, fixing customization the "right" way is out of the scope of CU so we'll have to look at it again afterwards. The flip side to this is that we now have some pretty good variety in weapons (new and old) which might make you want to use different weapons at different times, so perhaps we'll at least see people carrying a wider variety of weapons.

Now you know why, so there's no need to /bug this change when you see it. It is intentional, and we know why. =)

Darn!!!!!! I loved having my striker pistol look all nice like with the scope or how the EE3 looked like when the stock and scope was on it. Or how kool the lazer rifle an lazer carbine would look when fixed up with all the parts. An on that yellow high-light part, guess they don't count pistoleer's as people. Most pistoleer's have 4 to 9 different pistols on them at all times. Even a Rifleman has at less 4-5 different rifles on them. A commando has about 5-9 an most BH's have about 6-12 weapons at any given time. We would need that many weapon's to get pass the super deffence on the monsters.

This is cool with me... All the weapons are in their fully customized form now. Basically everything that can have a scope or a stock has a scope or a stock. It makes you take a second look at the old weapons... for instance the elite carbine

Actually, when I converted (restocked) my carbines, the Elite Carbines were the best of the bunch.

Are they ever going to convert the Hi-Caliber Projectile Pistol Barrels and the Hi-Velocity Blaster Pistol Barrels (and presumably whatever rifle barrels are out there as well) to something usable? Or should we just junk them now? Has anyone seen if newly looted barrels have new stats yet?
