Actually the +20 surveying does do something... it adds another range onto your devices. Which can go a long way to saving time finding go resources. I don't know exactly how many points you would need for the range though. But needless to say with survey 4 and the jedi surey line I think the range is like 620m, not for sure tho, that's just off the top of my head.

FS crap apparently costs 0 skill points and requires jedi exp. Luck increases the value of loot, which probably means you loot 105 credits from meatlumps instead of 100.

If it stacks with tapes, all crafters will be forced to grind through the probably-lame quests or lose all their customers because they don't have 14 points. The armorsmith market will be particularly hard hit because they can actually do good things with more points instead of dumping them into one of three marginally useful lines.

Luck increases value of loot? Hmmm. Now where do I remember THAT from? Oh yeah, the game I left to come to SWG: Ultima Online. Let's see. Will FS Tailors be able to make Lucky Bowling Shirts (+25 Luck)? Maybe FS BE's will make lucky additives for adding to brandy? FS Doctors with Enhance Luck buffs? Or would that be an FS entertainer thang?

The really nice thing about SWG is that loot is (was, I should say) of marginal value to the game. Seems we're heading more and more in the direction of same-o'-same-o' MMOs. UO in Space. I DO like the SWG graphics a lot more though.

Even if they had unlimited money, it would still take them quite a while to get the same resources as established crafters. Some of that stuff is so old that the only time it's ever up for sale is when an old crafter retires and sells everything. The best titanium aluminum on Lowca was like nine months ago, and the only passably good spawn since then was just last month. Same thing with steels, there was a really good duralloy and six months of garbage, and I have some polonium iron from a really long time ago (BER7 heavy harvester era) that's still the best available.

/agree totally. And since you're on Lowca, when was the last time you saw any even mediocre Plumbum Iron? Or Ryll or Green Diamond gems? You certainly won't find these things for sale. I found a little bit of reasonable Polonium for sale (about 10K) on a vendor that didn't seem to realize its value (only 3 cpu for OQ 871/CD 117 stuf). A truly dedicated miner can compete with anybody in the WS field except those who mined in huge quantities in the pre-stat-cap era and still has some left.

Points dont make you a better smith...

I will admit i become a Master Weaponsmith a week ago, after becoming a jedi. Not for support but because launch it was my goal to be a master weaponsmith and a master swordsmen. Thus far ive enjoyed it. At first i worried that being a 10 point smith as opposed to a 12 point smith would suck, after doing 26+ proffessions i just didnt have the cash to get +weapon exp tapes but i did use all of my cash to buy extremly rare resources for melee weapon crafting ( my specialty ). All my cash as in the 10million i had was dropped all the way down to 300k.

My shop doesnt even open until the 22nd and i've already made 2,200,000 on selling weapons, some of which weaponsmiths on my server dont even serve up anymore, because i took the time to talk to the community and find out what they wanted.

At 10 points i can still get my weapons damage up to the 92-98 percentile, with bestine port i can at times have a point or two left over for something else. All those two points will give you is either +2 range, -2-4 HAM or a small margine more durability, which really doesnt matter if your not afraid to use a weapon repair kit.

I personally hope these stack, i know with this patch i will be a 12 point smith because i have a force sensitive character, but i also realize i will never get to fourteen points because of my desire to craft with the best materials, not just cover that up with a few extra points. If they do stack up then i guess some master weaponsmiths will feel how it is for a novice to sell something that is certed at thier level. Its the same grind really except you ( as a master ) can still make weapons better then a 14 point smith, you just need to know what your doing

this will stack, devs at fanfest said it would, they see it as an elder quest for crafters, that if youve been crafting since release youll put the time and effort into becoming a better crafter with these FS skills, i cant wait, i unlocked in febuary and my main is WS/AS and is fairly well known, get ready for high stun armor with 70% base or kinetic composite that is as light as unlayered composite, itll be great times to be a 14 point smith in the period between pub9 and pub10

rather insignificant and probably has some retarded bug like the survey tool being unable to display anything above 320m, but the primary use of that line will be so you can drop survey to free up skill points and make up for it with the FS crap. the first guy who tested it said he was getting 320m range with survey 1. but then, he also said it did not increase maximum range at all so they've obviously changed something since then and it may not be all that useful for skill point purposes any more.

If it stacks with normal survey it is sure useful. This means you can drop survey 4 to save 5 skill points (well at least 4 counting 1 sp for the skill) or maybe even survey 3.

Wonder if this means they have fixed that +survey skill tapes now is working. They did not work to increase your range before since the rnage increase was connected to the skill box, not the survey skill stat.
