Thread: Questions you NEVER ask a weaponsmith...

Ya I get tells like that from guildmates all the time (to be expected) but now I am getting them from people I have never heard of.
Not trying to be mean, but your sig having both names might have something to do with it.

Don't you love those people who feel they just have to correct you? Almost as if their day would not have been complete otherwise.
To respond to the above posters argument, yes we are in a "buyer beware"environment. There is no reprocussion for a crafter to really screw you over if you are a moron and don't look into what you arebuying so we are going to get questions (lots and lots of questions),that is not the point of this thread. This thread is for weaponsmiths to get together and totally bash those customers that make you consider gold fish to be a superior being to thembased on their questions, almost every crafting forum has one. Sometimes, ya, the poster can go a little overboard and post a question that is legitimate but he is posting it for a reason. Most likely that reason is that he has already been /telled that question 10 or 12 times since he has logged on while he is trying to get through the exact same question another 10-12 times in email form, believe me it gets frustrating.
To bring this post to a close, my points are:
1) Ask well thought out questions, ie. don't ask a weaponsmith if he makes weapons, the answer will be yes.
2)Give the guy some slack, we are all humans behind the keyboard and do get frustrated.
3) Quit being a troll.
Edited my horrible grammer ; )

Questions you don't NEVER want to ask your weaponsmith (feel free to add your own)
1. Do you make guns?
No, actually I have spent the last 3 months attempting to learn the intricate stitches of CROCHET, the big banner over my head that says "Master Weaponsmith" is so I can score with them loose Twi'lek bar sluts at the Cantina.... damn, you found me out - but can I interest you in a krayt turtleneck sweater?
2. Do you make [insert standard gun name here] ?
No, those are beyond my skills completely - in fact, I make every gun BUT that one, and again you have found me out, exposed the single weakness in my skillset, anf I must now perform ritual Seppuku and disembowel myself with a rusty stone knife, would you like me to hold off so you can sell tickets?
3. I don't see a [insert standard gun name here] on your vendor, do you make them?
Damn, I hope he doesn't tell his friends on me - I will be the laughingstock of the Galaxy if the word spreads.... one moment, after I answer the 4 guys attempting to talk to me at once, I will point out that the fuggin gun is on page TWO of the vendor, and the real meaning of the [NEXT 100 ITEMS] button is to call the waiter over so he can refill your tasty beverage.
4. I need a [insert standard gun name here] but I want you to make it with the Good Stuff
Crap, he wants me to make it with the "good stuff" - and here I was hoping that he would buy the limpdix version of the gun that I make with all the crappy stuff. In fact, this canny consumer realizes what most do not - that only by ASKING for the sweet materials will I pull the rabbit out of the hat and produce the gun with 60 extra damage, 3.0 secs faster, and HALF the price of my normal inventory. Friend, the "Good Stuff" is something you smoke, here - let me roll you one....
5. I need an UBER [insert standard gunname here] can you make one?
Double Dawg Damn...this fellow has noticed that NONE of my gun say "UBER" in their name, and likely wants the "Good Stuff" to be used to craft one. But since he has used the "U" word, I know that he is 12 years old or less, and therefore is using his Momma's VISA card, so this fellow I can simply ignore (I better check to see if Mommy is with him first...she may be either A) fine, or B) red agro)
6. Customer: I need a Master Weaponsmith to repair my gun (spammed at a local starport) I need a Mas...
Wepsmith: I am a master weaponsmith, what do you need repaired?
Customer: My laser rifle, WAIT - how do I know you will give it back?
Oh Drat, I almost had him .... I was about to add another 22-260 11.0s speed-sliced laser rifle with 12 condition to my vendor for resale! But, I was foiled again ....this fellow is much too smart for me, perhaps I should just slink away in shame - Screw Ralph Nader and his Consumer Awareness teachings....
Hey Numbnutz, the quick answer is "You DOn't" - and the fact that I have unlimited laser rifles of twice the damage, and half the speed.....that has never occurred to you?
Ah, I feel better already friends, thanks for listening...

With the exeption of number (6) you should ask all these questions. Or rather you shouldnt have to ask them but you do. Im glad to see that Echal is apparently a knowledgable, and quality only WS. However, Just because they are master WS does not mean you will get the best resources or your 2 million dollar Krayt tissue wont go to waste. Sorry to burst your bubble here, but withyour claim that non-WS shouldnt ask questions,I just felt I had to correct you. Too many "uber" tags are put on standard stuff. If you want the best weapon as a combatant you should read the WS forums to know exactly what your getting and what to expect.

Not trolling man, I was looking for weapon info as a non-weapon smith. My point is that if you cant remember what it was like to be a new player, you should stop and think. All the questions you listed are legitimate, as there are many weapon smith that just make certain weapons because of resource needs or they just like to specialize.
A non weapon smith does not know the min max theoretical possibilities of any particular weapon without extensive reading or asking these questions. So when you say uber it doesnt mean it is. In a game where power hammers and rifles seem to rule many pve looting grounds, people deserve to know thier options.
EG : most WS do not stock krayted DX'2s because it takes 5 tissue VS 1 for a scatter. So to get a DX2 you would have to ask a WS what are the ooptions. If I ask many weapon smiths on the Flurry server , NO ONE makes uber DX2's. NO ONE. A proper DX2 can be a serious competition to these uber weapons but they arent available.
So sorry if you feel Im busting on you for no reason, but I just felt I had to keep you from intimidating younger players who may read your post and feel they cant ask these questions. Thats just bad customer service on your end , and is a indication that you dont really care about getting the best quality weapons to your customers. The size and boldness of your post warranted correction, in my opinion.
So my points are:
1) The answer will not always be yes.
2) WS is extremely hard I know, but there areno stupid questions if you arent a crafter.
3) You say trolling ,I say informing. Each person can make up thier own mind.
If this post didnt havesuch a large number of responses I wouldnt have bothered. But you are obviously a player with some influence. So yes I did feel I just had to say something.

I think youre missing the point of this thread. We are here to have a laugh, because in the stories told here we all recognize situations that happens to us every other day. I personally dont mind answering these questions, but after 10 in a row it can get a bit out of hand especially if some of the costumers are less polite (thankfully most of my costumers are awesome).
This thread is used to vent, I think somebody mentioned AA-groups in comparison ![]()
look thrue the thread and youll see most stories circle around people with bad behavior. The stories about stupid questions are there cause we can all relate. Some of us probably just logged out from having one of these into this thread and saw someone with the exact same experience.
I think what Im trying to say... this thread is not to be taken too serious, actually its not really a thread for the costumers at all. Its a thread for weaponsmith across galaxies to share strange, horrible, funny, awesome, sweet and annoying costumer experiences to make each other laugh ![]()
