I already posted once, but with all these posts regarding slices, I'd like to brink up an old point of mine.
I think there ought to be a bonus (5% or so) for both slices and weapon repair, if you're working with a weapon that you crafted.
- If you made the weapon, you should get a 5% bonus to repair.
- If you made the weapon, you should get a 5% bonus if you slice it yourself.
This can generate loyalty between the customer and their weaponsmith and help with the bad slice issues.

Experimentation is so random that it is near impossible to get anything but anecdotes, so as much information as you can get would really help.

happens to me a lot. has been happening since the 10.3 patch. if we are to understand correctly:
Crit Fail = -7%
Fail = -3%
Moderate Success = Push... no gain, no loss
Success = +3%
Good Success = +5%
Great Success = +7%
Amazing Success = +8%
i believe those are fairly correct, but i could be mistaken since i never see anything less than a great success anymore. by these standards, 28% base + 5 amazing + 4 great = 96%
however, i am getting this occassionally but only hitting 94%, which would suggest something has been altered (amazing reduced by .5% possibly). since we have never been given the actual stats (which is totally stupid, devs are just freekin paranoid) it is impossible to tell where the exact chang has occurred. i understand, to a point, the secretiveness of their algos to determine this stuff, but in all fairness we need to know what each level detracts and rewards to be able to give our customers the best service we can.

Another issue:
I have alot of people wanting to sell me loot, some good but most of it is just terrible; rancor teeth, reinforced sword cores, precision weapon scopes...
It would be nice if the loot tables were updated to reflect what we are crafting now so that basic loot was at least as good as what is currently being made.
alsoinstead of players looting DOT weapons, they could instead loot DOT components.

here is another that just happened...
experimented a PH to 89%, the next hit was an amazing success, only went up to 95%... that is less than even a great success should have gone up.
quality or resources used:
1000SR Steel
996SR Kammris Iron
799SR Copper
max exper % = 96%

Well i have a few issues that i feel alot of people here will dissagree with but first off i agree with the slicing, useless schem and beserker issues. However if i was to ask for a Dev to spend time in doing soemthing for WS i would not personnaly ask for them to get rid of heavy warhead mech's for example i woud rather have them fix the serials on stabilsation comps for beserkers.
My main issues is that i do not think WS's use enough resource amounts i mean we use tons of different resources but not enough amounts. like AS, Chef for example they run out of good things so there is a variation in statsof productsfrom store to store. But with WS all it takes is one good spawn and 1 WS with the use of 5 harvs (in most cases) can harvest enough of that resource for them to EVER need. so on each server i pretty much garantee all the 12pt WS's will have almost the exact same stats on their weapons. However as i said there are some exceptions to this rule but i think the resource quantities should be doubled or tripled. this would then also give people more respect for weapons as people do for armour as a weapon would cost more money.
Another issue of mine is i actually agree with the limited adition schematics and one use schems as this helps to keep the number of "rare" weapons down in the game.
And my final issue is with the experimentation on weapons, i think there should be a seperate bar for experimenting speed and more importantly make more of a difference when experimenting on range and efficiency. As at the moment on certain weapons you can waste like 3 points knocking off 2 points of HAM, or adding 2 to the range. if the speed bar was introduced and the amount of effectiveness of exerimentation on stats other than damage was increased then WS's would be able to craft significantly different weapons to other WS's. Each Weaponsmith could then specialise if they wanted to in certain differnt things such as low HAM weapons or very fast weapons with slightly less damage than normal. These changes i feel would make 12points far more valuable but a 10point master could still cap one of any of these stats, such as damage.
Well this is just my opinion and i no alot of these issues have been braught up before but as the original post says nothing has realy happened to WS in a while so why not post these issues again.

Not sure if this should be on the smuggler forum.
On kettemore there is well know weaponsmtih that has weapons on his vendor that have received higher then 35% damage slices. This has been brought to our attention on the kett board more then once and nothing seems to have been done about it.
Pick-up slicing is still behing done, and i think this needs to be fixed.

Hell I have a ws alt and that dang berserker barrel is pissing me off 6 months later...
My only other qualm about the current WS profession is the already stated point of slicing. With current rescources and the availibility of loot, 12 points of experimentation, and crafting foods, it is exceedingly harder and harder for WS regardless of ability to make any kind of discernable impact on the final product. Simply put: Slices makes or breaks a weapons value and worth. you could use legendary tissues, an exceptional looted barrel and other such uber rescources all you want. The guy with thegun isstill thinking "Man this thing will be worthless if i get astupid speed slice."
True Story. Can we make legendary successes? say on assembly or experimentation you get a legendary success and lo and behold that LLC just went from the low 900s to the high 1200s? Even a 1 in 1000 chance to do somthing truly monumental for our profession? cant we say "Hey did you hear about that uber weapon Felton crafted the other day?" instead of "Hey did you hear about that uber slicethat master smugglergot on that weapon 'someweaponsmith" made?"
/end shameless plug for a fish.(no smugglers were flamed in this posting)

My five issues(Remember, I am just a New WS)
1)Looted components/schematics: Either increase the amounts of uses, or do away with them completely. Every person who goes to the geo cave thinks everything they loot is worth over a million credits. It is getting harder and harder to find people to sell you the stuff at a price that allows you to build and sell a decent weapon at a decent price.
2)Executioners hack, DE10, VK, Berserker: DE 10 and Berserkers have been mentioned already, but I am mentioning it again. Need another type of VK for TKm, and the Ex hack needs to be competitive with the scythe. Nobody buys these.
3)Looted weapons: Allow us to decontruct these and obtain a temp schematic for them. This gives us a chance to be competitive with the looters, and givs a chance of making a great weapon.
4) Resousrce spawns: mentioned before, there is a large amount of iron, but not much else spawning. Hopefully a JTL specific issue.
5) Storage: Why do we have to store everything in a vendor(which can get lost) or a factory(which can get lost and/or destroyed). Looted items of the same serial number need to be treated like a factory grate. When looted there needs to be 1 item, with a number showing how many there are in the stack. Resources need to be stackable up to a minimum of 500k. Houses need to double the storage space as they currently have.
Thanks

Pretty much what Eraint said..lol
1) stacking lootcomponents with same serial numbers (Geo power cores, solidifying agents...etc)
2) some of the coices on minerals used in certain schems (Desh copper in the adv vibro motor and rhodium steel in the adv pistol and rifle barrels) really?both are not a good choice even the best stuff spawned is horrid. There are others that have bothered me but can't remember ATM.
What if after a certain number of times ya make a certain weapon or component, you can try changing the types of minerals used, from rhodium to another steel that has better stats suited to the item.
And keep in totally random on when each WS can do it. So people who are in for the long haul are able to have some more fun and better weapons.
3)The deconstructing a loot weapon for a temp schem would be amazing honestly if that happened I would be in heaven.
4)Way too many Dot weapons you can get 5-20 per buff on Lowca server doin missions on Dant (5 are worth keeping most times.)
5)repair on weapons, we need the edge don't know many who fail with a 95+% weapon repair tool
6)Make some other enhancements for the weapons sick of only Ackley bones and Geo cores for melee
and spider fangs that hardly drop. The last 15 times killing it nothing to loot...lol.
7)Bring some people over to ranged, melee has tonnes more people and I can't blame them, the ranged weapons are just not even close. Really a Rifle doin' 6400dmg but takes 6sec v.s. a Hammer doin 4500dmg and only 4sec. I would take the Hammer 10 out of 10. Not to mention the fact that if you get sniffed out doin rifles and they charge...BYE BYE!!!, Melee it's just the running away that might hamper ya, and that's just because they jump from 10m away to 100m from time to time.
8)I would love to drop slicer would free up lots or skill points, but I just can't, I sell 20 times more weapons on my sliced vendor than my untouched vendor. The sliced weapons keep me goin'. If slicing were more "Illegal" maybe that would help detur everyone for having them or atleast only having them.
Thanks.

I just have 1 major problem. Make the damn beserker rifles craftable. I'm sittin on 3 schems and 12 barrels for almost 5 months. My rifleman alt needs a heat based weapon to do any real damage to some of the corvette NPC's. I've placed 4 reports ingame and have gotten the same stupid CSR feedback saying 'it will be fixed in an upcoming update and soory about the inconvenience, but I'm just here to say sorry to all your problems while I don't lift a finger to do anything about it". This is BS. I can't find any place I can post on the DEV's forums to open these people's eyes to fix something that seems so easy to fix. Jeez, they can make ch trainers that you can drag and drop a pet of level 11-15 to drop it to a 10. But, they can't do the same thing with serializing a beserker barrel or even change it at the source so we start looting serialized barrels. Total BS, get off your asses DEV's and give my rifleman the damage types he's suppose to have instead of spending your time making my comp armor reflective and my lag increase. Maybe if you guys fire the CSR's that cant seem to help with anything and hire some more DEV's to fix all the bugs or get it right the first time then you can see less and less of these angered posts by people who are fed up with the run around. Please sticky this to a DEV's forehead backwards so he can see it every morning he's combing his hair.

Most has been said, but… My top 5 issues
Slicing: A smuggler can take an average weapon and make a great weapon of it, or take an exceptional weapon, and trash it. Who wants to pay for a VK enhanced with a +20 motor, if it's been speed sliced, when he can get a 30% damage slice on a standard nuck, and have a better weapon? Even if the slice is 30+%, it's junk. Everyone knows this, and is reluctant to buy anything un-sliced, just to roll the dice.
1st I think the smugglers should be able to call their slice, either speed or damage. Additionally, if quality of their supplies is really a factor, then list it on the item. There's nothing stopping me from burning some crap copper on a run of kits, and naming them "99.8% weapon u/g kit." Even if they call me out, I can just suggest that they’re having a run of bad luck.
2nd Sliced equipment needs to be more illegal, to the point that a player may not want to have their scythe sliced for fear of having it confiscated during an inspection. "Take the curved please, but not my scythe..." It should apply it us Imps too.
DOT weapons: The loot only DOTs are both too common and too powerful. Short of a sweet Ackley Hammer or the like (with a good slice...), any hardcore PvP'er wants nothing to do with a crafted weapon. Crafted weapons = death in PvP. I loved the idea of DOT comps being looted in place of the weapons, but even then I think the 25% damage mod should apply to all PvP damage, not just immediate damage. This would leave standard weapons disadvantaged, but at least competitive.
Crafted weapon variety: I think Riskii is on to something. If you want to compete with the oldest smith on your server, all you need to do is get the materials from the best spawns ever, of each type... and you can match their weapons exactly. 100% clones.
1st Resources, once gathered, will last us forever. After 3 months as a MWS, I can craft 2200 Advanced VKs, without running out of my best materials. If I fall back to 2nd grade stuff and take a .2% hit on caps, I can pump out 5000 more. The veteran smiths have multiple buildings and vendors dedicated to nothing but storing this material away, with no worries about ever running out or having the material degrade. So long as your there for the best material spawns, your supremacy is assured.
2nd 3 of our 4 experimentation groups are nearly unused. Everyone maxes damage, then tosses any extra points into one of the other categories as an after thought. We make them that way, because the players buy 'em that way.
A measure of value needs to be added to condition, so that if nothing is spent on condition, the weapon will fall apart much faster. For a base, un-sliced hammer, that might be ok. The player simply tosses another 5-10k out next week for a new one. I'll bet the hammer he gets made with the +999 bones... He'll want that to last a bit, even if it costs 100 points of max dam.
Range mods. As a master rifle, if I can keep a PvE target outside of 40m, I won’t miss. EVER. If something gets closer, I'll just target something behind my targt, and use a cone attack. I don't care about the mods unless I'm going to shoot a PvP target, and even then... I'll pass on range experimentation for more damage.
HAM costs? ROFL! Who cares? Between stat migration, buffs, food, drink, & drugs, I don't notice the ham cost of any weapon I have today. Even when I'm running w/o any of that, If I need to rip off a few specials, I don't get out the lightweight gun, I pop a brandy, and heal with a stim every 6-7 shots. Short of the nOOb toons who can't afford the buffs & goodies, no one casres what the ham cost of a weapon is.
Redundant or useless weapons: Every weapon in the game should have a purpose. A series of training weapons followed by the master weapons. None should ever be useless in every situation. Ever run into a master sword who was willing to put a 2h curved down, to pick up a cleaver? When was the last time you actually saw an E11 rifle used when a laser rifle was available?
Stack sizes: The devs want their database back, and we need more room to hold the 100s of loot only items, resources, and factory crates we stock. Stack similar items, up the stack size on existing stacks, and allow matching split crates to be re-stacked.
This is such a no-brainer, I'm surprised it hasn't been implemented.

Expermentation on advanced weaponstocks does not seem to work properly.
Loot weapons, specifically Polearms/DOT weaponshave become too common.
Redundant/useless weapons, Tangle pistol, Beam rifle, DLT20a rifle, DH17 Carbine, DL44 pistol...
Berserker rifle stablization component needs serial number
Stats need to be displayed on DE10 barrel.
