It has been well known what these unserialized tissues meant from the moment they first dropped - and the devs have choosen not to do anything, not even mention whether we should be using them. Many times there is a fine line between using the game mechanics to their fullest extent and "exploiting". The devs really do need to come forward in this situation and make things clear. Is the situation fair? Definitely not. Is it an exploit? The answer to that is a matter of opinion.

Given that they've stated: 'Report it, and stop doing it.' I don't think they've left much room for opinion/interpretation. It's an exploit, everyone knew it at the time, or had second thoughts about it, and most people didn't care which is why so many exploited weapons hit the servers so quikcly afterwards.

The problem is that the Devs don't really take steps to fix these problems, so these problems linger on. As long as the odds of getting caught remain a crap-shoot, there will be cheaters.

Oh for goodness sake.

If you have a SCHEMATIC (see the subject of this thread) that uses an unserialized tissue in the SCHEMATIC, then delete the SCHEMATIC.

If you have unserialized Krayt Tissues, use them however you want, just DO NOT MAKE A SCHEMATIC WITH THEM.

That's it. It's not as complicated as everyone always has to make things!

Some of my pet peeve bugs:
•Armorsmith protection layers were not converted with the CU.
•Ship Details window does not close when you click "Travel" resulting in the message "You have lost the target. Closing interface."

I think the argument Arsenal is trying to make here is that it was not obvious if it would be considered an exploit because it was still krayt tissue. You still had to make a schematic with it. You still had to put tissue in a factory with other components to get krayt power handlers out of that factory. The only marginally ambiguous thing about it is that lesser tissues (say +30s) can be upgraded to something better via this process. If you had a blank +30 schematic, would it really be that big of a deal? It would, at best, save you a few tissues here and there over time.

The exploited weapons to which you refer -- to my knowledge -- were not crafted using this process, but via a different exploit whereby you could get krayt stats on a power handler WITHOUT using krayt tissue. That sort of thing is clearly an exploit. But what we have in this instance is legitimately harvested tissue being used in legitimate factories to make krayt power handlers. It is not the fault of the fledgling weaponsmith that these tissues had no serial numbers. I am forced to wonder if there are people still carrying these schematics that don't see enough krayt tissue to realize that what they have is an anomaly... and because of that, they risk censure for an "exploit" that has never been clearly defined until now.

Obviously with Taurin's response above, the matter has been properly addressed. But it's been something like four months since these serial-less tissues appeared. There is no doubt in my mind that there are individuals using these schematics still that do not know what they are doing is now considered an exploit... and they don't know that.

"Benefit of the doubt" is probably a good phrase here.

If you want my personal opinion, people should be given the opportunity to destroy these schematics before having anything seriously bad done to them. I know I'd be a bit miffed if my account was suddenly closed for something I didn't even consider to be an exploit. We have to keep in mind that this is a very unique situation, because these tissues are legitimate game drops. That makes it very difficult to tell people that what they have is illegal, because the game gave it to them. =)

I feel that anyone "caught" or contacted by a CSR on this matter should be given the chance to voluntarily eliminate the schematics in question without repercussions. Any non-serialized tissue should be left alone and should be permitted to be used normally, and the devs should make their policy on these tissues clear. Honestly, there can't be that many left, but they are cropping up still from time to time (I had someone bring me one for a scatter pistol just the other day).

I heard this was fixed but I am STILL getting unserialized Krayt Tissues.

I have 18 to be exact from just the last 2 days. These are however base tissues +30 -0.30.

Granted people can't make schematics and turn them into +100 tissues.
