Thread: Thoughts on the limited schematics

I don't mind the limited schematics a la Themepark.
I don't like the Schematics a la Scythe/DXR6 because they REQUIRE a looted item ON TOP of being loots themselves.
Sure - make looted Schematics (but for God's sake make them common and spread out, to avoid macro campers) but - make all extra components OPTIONAL. If you want to add a yellow cube - sure - you can - but it shouldn't be REQUIRED. Just like Krayt. If you want to purchase the gun - the crafter should be able to massproduce it. If you want an enhanced gun - certain looted components may be added.
Um we werent manufacture monkeys before. I cannot help the fact that many people just ram rod factory. The new temp schems a provide for no forthought. In other words you cannot take the two months to get uber materials for these weapons. They require oddball special materials loots, and so on.
Some smiths shock shock. Actually like trying to make a better gun. These temp schems remove that. Most smiths I would like to think try to give the best to their customers. Asfor priceing what might help. Is to balance the weapons add new ones, and make them more customizeable. Ranges hams durabilities. All of which are wastes of experimentation points.
I am sick of being told "I am paying you so shutup and make my two scythes." We work hard to get better at what we do, and therefor should be allowed to get better. Not to be handicapped by the curse of the manufacture monkey.
how are you handicapped by not trying to make better loot schematic weapons? Oddball resources...hell oddball resources USED TO BE THE NORM! way back in the day especially for heavy weapons! perphaps some of you dont remember those days, but it was nice....as it took more planning to make them, they too more effort to make them.
Sacrifice a coupel schematics to test out your improvements, just like testign on a non loot schematic weapon, cept they might cost you a little more out of pocket to find the best setup is all.
Maxx the point is that saying no to a good customer is not an easy thing, or advantagous thing to do. Meanwhile you have five other people wanting to have that weapon too.
Note loot enhancements and temp schems are entirely different beasts. A player can go back and get krayt tissues again and again. You cannot do that with a temp schematic. Thus there is a balance in the krayt system. Players and smiths do not necassarily need to be stingy. With these schems its becomeing a more common occurance.
Since when has been doing the dungeon a requirement to get a item. Um never we have a crafter economy. The entire issue of supplying weapons is being taken out of our hands. By us being downgraded to a simple cog in the machine. Manufacture monkey we are becomeing. Simply being reduced in state. We are not supplying the weapons uber camper loot artists are.
The fact that you like the fact that you are just being used, and not actually participateing in any meaningful way is sad.

In terms of being a 'manufacture monkey', I see no difference between krayt tissue and a limited use schematic. Either way, the customer is bringing you a limited resource to craft a weapon specifically for them. Same difference. Some people have smiths make them a couple of uber krayt guns, then they go and auction the guns on the trade boards, no different than making a couple of Scythes and having the customer sell them.
The entire SWG economy is based on combat. Virtually everything that is crafted is either directly or indirectly tied to supporting the combat classes. What keep's the combat classes going? Content is part of it, but loot is also a large part of what keeps people playing. This is true for every RPG, but especially for MMORPGs. If the combat classes stop playing, then we lose our customer base entirely (not to mention that the game will fail).
While I would like to see new permament weapon schematics, I think that limited use schematics are a good compromise that keeps crafters in the loop and relevant while giving the combat players the uber-loot they crave. You can choose to not make them, or make them only for friends and good customers. You are free to set a price that makes crafting these items worth your time. You are free to /ignore customers who treat you like a highly interactive NPC vendor.

Have to disagree with you on the similarity to the Krayt tissues and other enhancers. Those aren't required to make any particular weapon, they are simply enhancements to several weapon types. They don't limit our ability to make any particular weapon.
As far as hiding behind factories and vendors along with diversity, there was plenty of ways of personalization and diversity before the limited schematics. Such as hand-crafted weapons that display scopes and stocks, which look a lot different than most of the "new" weapons like the modified RBs or the enhanced E11s along with the Disruptor rifle that looks just like the carbine with the stock on it. As far as diversity goes, as you well know Nisi, I offer more models of carbines and rifles than anyone on our server. But this is not about you or I. I actually like the new schematics but think that it's taking us down a dangerous path in the near future. It'll be interesting to see where it all goes. Time will tell...
their enhancers and no enahnacer is required to make ANY weapon, even the loot schematics, just basic loot components that are dropped reather easily (ie cubes anyone?). Dangerous path of allowing limited use schematics....oh no better watch out one day all that will sell is limited use schematic weapons *end sarcasm* Doubtfull, as people will always need the basic stuff. The limited use is here to spice up life, not take away, and it does spice things up. Gives the combatant a cool weapon and the crafter a chance to craft sumthing not so generic. If smiths had a normal schematic for theses in thier datapad they would be just another weapon, but since thier limited, it makes them coveted, and helps drive the game further along.
Im surprised you had to bring you and me into this, well not really......as youv always been one to try and play one up. But its ok, ill make my dialy millions and just forget you even said anything *wink*

sorry forgot there wasa third page...I echo the thoughts that a customer bringing a rare "thing" to me and me crafting is the same regardless if its krayt tissue or a limited use schematic and looted part.
Echo the comments before this post. But I also wish to point out that its not a requirement to do the dungeon, its a reward for doing the dungeon. The glass can be Half full instead of half empty. If there was no reason to do the dungeon there would be no point to putting it in. And it seems you can keep going back (i. e. genosan dungeon) and keep getting schematics, just like you can keep killing krayts to get krayt tissues. Although I think the genosian dungeon has a higher drop rate. Put a bounty on these schematics and then sell for profit. I was able to do it...

Um no you cannot get the tenloss schematic over and over. Not possible. Each player can get it once. So if you think about it even now the supply of these schematics are going down and the prices up.
i had someone offer up 10 of these to one of my vendors the other day. THink im sititng on 15-20 of them *shrug* not that hard to come bye
And if you can only get one, that makes them that much more special for you and the buyer ![]()
