Thread: This isn't Exploited right? Clicky inside!!

Being directed to this post a couple days ago, it was recommended that given the immediate attacks and 'Exploit this', 'Exploit that' nature of the post that I first attempt to discuss the issue with an SOE representative. I have not yet received a response from this representative and cannot bear waiting for this response any longer so I've decided to post.

I did not mean to cause any drama. I made this weapon a few weeks ago with normal stats and it was used by a BH friend that used a token respec to go melee and gave the weapon back for me to sell. When i removed the powerup from the weapon it converted to these high damages so i didn't sell it, I put it on display.
Yesterday (or a couple days ago?) I gave it to a BH that has been doing BH missions and getting me the new loot components. He then made a post entitled 'This isn't Exploited, right?' on the forum and everyone is talking about the weapon being exploited. So I was directed to you to explain the situation.
I realize that I shouldn't have given anyone the weapon, and probably should have just submitted a ticket regarding the weapon, and i'm hoping that this doesn't result in very harsh punishment.
If you need to make an example of me by suspending or something i may deserve this, but please take in regard that i'm turning myself in so I am not permanantly suspended.
If you need anymore information I will check for a reply and help as much as I can.

To elaborate on the above; I crafted 3 Heavy Lightning Rifles 3-4 weeks ago that were given to my BH friend that respec'd. One of these weapons sold and was returned to me shortly after because after the final damage slice the damage of the weapon actually went down! The second one was this weapon and it converted in reverse and ended up with higher damage than normal. The third weapon I still had in stock un-sold but destroyed after reading this thread. I did not intend to let this bugged weapon out on to the market, and intended only to display it in the shop until the original poster drooled all over the weapon and offered to give me some of the BH loot in return....
Now I feel like i've sold my soul.
I always strive to make the best; I have tissues, shards, bones and geo components that had been collected for almost 2 years in storage that I only recently felt comfortable making weapons with! Now my competition is obviously trying to smash me by saying 'All my weapons are like this' and claiming that there are HLR's all over the server that are bugged with my name on them and this is simply insulting and UNTRUE!
Now I made myself a target by walking into the enemy camp that is already biased and formed their own opinions on the matter. I do believe I did wrong by not reporting the weapon and letting it get this far; I don't believe that it's fair to condemn my entire business or make untrue stories....
I apologize, may my penalty be just...

first off you sold the wepon and it leaked...bad move on your psrt...second you made 3 of these weapons....all weapons have a hard cap....all WS know this....as far as the tells ive got...yeah you better believe i get 6 to 7 every time i log on my WS to see if i can out craft the weapon you made and then i have to explain that it is not possible.....these weapons shouldnt have even spread into the game...they should have been destroyed but unstead you sold or traded for a BH loot component.....bad move on your part....as far as the exploit call....my apologies...but when you see a weapon like this with only a 70% slice and the damage as high as it is you ask questions....i tried my hardest to go beyond cap with a single power cell that was max 191 and to no avail I couldnt....

I'll give him the power cells and casings he gave me back if he likes.. and craft him something free as soon as possible to make up for the trouble, although he did take the weapon knowing that it was above the cap, which kind of confuses me why he would post it directly onto the forum afterward.... but if he wants to just bring it back, or get the serial off of the weapon i'll report it or you can report it or he can report it and have it fixed.
Oh also. It's not in my control what happens with a weapon once it's off my vendor and into someone else's hands. If there are people exploiting one thing or another on a weapon made by you or I, or Jesus for that matter, it is going to end up with yours or mine or Jesus' name on the weapon that was crafted irregardless...
your name is on the weapon....you knew what happend and failed to do anything about it....then you traded said weapon to someone because you wanted something even though you knew said weapon was above the capps....i dont know....ive seen alot on this game from the double slicing to the stacking armor...it could have been a bug or could have been a glitch.....but the weapon should have never left your hands in a trade when you saw the numbers on it.....you were asking to get burnt when that happend....i dont know how many emails you have got to repeat this weapon but if i were you I would make it clear to explain that this was a bug of some sort and that this cant be obtained in crafting

In this case I was the crafter and witnessed the powerup removal increase the damage, but if I hadn't gotten that weapon back from my buddy and he had sold it himself instead, the person who purchased the weapon would have had this happen as well when the powerup was removed. In that instance am I still the one to blame? I'd have to disagree.

hmm - someone wanna try what fabkins suggested with the Sac/damage pup - and try to slice it? it seems too close to the actual stats we see to be coincidence.. looks like a -ve damage pup has been applied to get round the slicing cap - once its sliced - remove the pup and voila your over the cap.. suggest we try it - then report it as an exploit if it works?

It has been a little bit since I have had a weapon with a pup handed to me to be sliced, but if I am not mistaken a change was made recently so that weapons with Pups, had to have the pup removed before it could be sliced preventing the slicing issue we had for a while where if you sliced a weapon with a pup, the weapon would actually get worse.
I was wondering if the owner of this weapon has tried to remove the pup once more from the weapon. As this bug seems to be similar to the one mentioned on the BH forum.
I dont know if you guys remember the thread about the over the top Scatter looted from a BH mark, which then had the pup removed and the stats were drastically lowered? Something seems to be afoot with pups.
Thx to the Creator of this weapon to come forward with your explanation and its good to know that you didnt exploit something, but it was down to a bug 
Sure you should have never sold this weapon before at least consulting a CSR, but its good to see that you are trying to rectify that
As for Post CU components being an exploit.... well SOE decided to convert them as they were so really they are working as intended. And yes I agree this ug needs to be looked into
(Actually they need to remove the caps so we all have a possibility to make weapons like this

i just started grinding weaponsmith, and i would just like to say thumbs up to the guy that crafted this
and to all you peeps saying exploit exploit you know if one of you crafted this you wouldnt be crying like you are now

The problem is, that under the current system it shouldnt be possible to craft this. Meaning that doing this is either a result of a bug (as in this case) or a result of exploiting the game mechanisms, ruining gameplay for honest players and unbalancing the system (as was the case with double slicing pre CU).
If this was within the system believe me I would be overjoyed and congratulating the creator, but when its the result of a bug it needs to be adressed.
