I just thought I would mention this... accuracy effects damage in the CU. And it seems weapon accuracy mods don't show in the weapon screen, but are added.

I'm really hoping that the damage cap as seen in TC is not what will happen when the CU goes live. It is possible that they are testing max dps and so have ratcheted up the damage on all the weapons in test. Once it goes live, the max damage on weapons would be reduced, but the cap would remain the same.
Of course this is a desperate hope. If bluedoots is right, then all the resources and loot that established weaponsmiths have stockpiled, tens of millions of credits, become near worthless.

Vade, Dex're..it's a lost cause guys, lets just open a shop on Tat and sell cdef's. We can pool out resources and make enough cdef weaponry to cover the entire landscape of Tatooine.
I've been pretty quiet over the last few weeks, but I've read a lot. There's nobody, not you nor anybody else that can stop it now. It's about 3 hours away for us on Ahazi, I'm sitting on 200 crates of nades, and 2 larges full with crates of weapons and armour. Most, if not all of which will be junk. I havent stocked a vendor in 2 weeks. 2 more mediums loaded up with AS resources, most of which wont be any good to me. Come tomorrow..who knows really.
The bags of Krayt, the schematics, looted barrels, the high end cubes..it's all junk now.
I just sit here at the screen, but I just don't know what yo do. I had a plan, and a timeframe too. That timeframe is now 10 days short, thus the plan has failed.
Consider this, 3 characters, newb jedi/tkm, 12ptArmoursmith/Master Weaponsmith, total newb with master medic.
What will I do post CU? I don't really want to quit, I enjoy SWG as it is now for the most part.
I cant keep TK because I'll need swords, if I drop TK it drops my combat level to a point where I cant use a sabre..so I cant play that one.
I'm so very disheartened by the crafting changes I just can't bear to log him in for more than 5 minutes at a time.
Grinding a newb from scratch post CU? Doesnt sound like a whole lot of fun to me either.
Maybe I'll go back to UO, but they got ninjas or some shiite now, and doesnt sound like the kind of thing I'm into either, WOW looks cartoony and shiite as well, and I wouldnt play everqueer if you held a gun to my head.
Like I said, I just don't know what to do.

I have decided to adopt a wait-and-see attitude. I will probably drop a few accounts, but which ones are yet to be determined.
Also in answer to many of the questions from above posters I was able to compile some data on weapons crafting in a post-CU world.

I know we've gotten off topic, but...
I've only got on char, so I have little choice but to stick with it or give up entirely. Right now, I've promised friends that I will be around for 2 months. After that, we'll see how stable/good the game has become.
I'm in a slightly better possition than many crafters: because of my guild, I freed up a bunch of SP that would have otherwise been devoted to Artisan and Merchant. As a result, I have Flame IV in Commando. Now with the respec coming, I believe I could get master commando. Unfortunately, it sounds like Lok will be an even worse place to live than it already is.
Paving Tat with CDEF's has its appeal.
Surely you could do more damage throwing those weapons. They should make it a new Commando skill: the CDEF hurl.
I really hope to see all you guys around post-CU. Too many vets have already left the game. If you leave the game will seem very empty.

That's one reason I unstickied this thread. Or thought I had. =)
EDIT: Okay, now I did. I've been progressively trying to clean up the stickies for the next Correspondent, and I figured most of the older generic CU info wouldn't do anyone any good since, hey, it's here already.

Just crafted a DX2 pistol using pretty decent materials from the frog, and experimenting for damage.
DX2 Pistol Stats
Condition: 874:874
Combat Level: 54
Skill Req'd: Master Pistoleer
Damage:
Base Type: Energy
Attack Speed: 2.21
Damage: 346-771
Accuracy Bonus:1
Wound: 18.4%
Est. DPS: 252.37 per sec.
My modded DPS: 366.21 (As a master pistoleer)
Range: 0-35m
Special Cost: 120
So the original poster's converted DX2 seems pretty nice.

I'm taking a wild-ass guess at this point, but I'm betting that many of the "lower level" weapons that have been added are of the type that will only take basic components (as Helios was mentioning to us last week). Some verification from those on TC-5 this afternoon would be of use. I will be investigating this tonight now that we have access to Weaponsmith skills on the server.
Anyone with additional information on new schematics and components and whatever is welcome to post it! I will attempt to gather all of the changes in a central, stickied thread.
No weapon uses "standard" projectile feed mechanism at this time. None.
