Thread: Warning to weaponsmiths on the Ahazi Server
I'd also like to point out that for a good portion of the time I was grinding weaponsmith UXP was totally broken. I pretty much stopped getting it for a while even though more and more of my guns were out there. Yeah, and factories were broken. Had to break everything out of crates and load them one at a time. I'm happy that you can level like you think the developers want you too, but most of us that have been around a while had no other way to get to master due to numerous bugs at the time.
I also had no giant PA helping me. I started with nothing.Crafted my first personal harvesters myself, and worked up to where I got. So the fact that this all started because someone wouldn't give you a pistol makes me laugh. I think you should go away now.
I had so many flames ready, but in the end I just feel...hmm, pity? Yeah, thats it, I pity this poor fool more than anything esle.
Good luck man.
what's the point of this orion? didnt your mother teach u to wipe your own ass? complaining, revenge, sulking...it wont get u anywhere. myself and all the other weaponsmiths dont need to give u reasons why we charge what we do. but we set the prices because we're the ones making the weapons. ur the one who gets to enjoy the fruits of our labor. honestly 8k, 10k, and even 12k is a reasonable price for a good fwg5.
im not stopping u from your weaponsmith journey, its not easy. its fun i like it a lot. but when its all said and done, ur going to feel the need of charging customers what should be charged for the time and effort u put into making the weapons.
it took me a while to achieve master ws, so im going to enjoy my profession in relaxation. i hope i dont find myself reading anymore of your complaints. its not helping u, me, anyone or anything.

master weaponsmith - ahazi
yes i make decent weapons, why wouldnt i?
I dont think anyone else has out right said it
You sir, are an Idiot.
Orion,I can feel your anger, hatred... don't succumb to the dark side, my friend.
No, I'm serious. What you're going to do will ruin you and your friends, not the other weaponsmiths on Ahazi or the economy. Even if you succeed to achieve your goal, endless and more work will be the only reward you'll receive.
Thinking about this, and I have to say that there is no way that one person can affect cost over the entire economy. Also, all this talk of buying wholesale and selling retail won't work. It only works when there is a second(inaccessible to the retail) market1 for it. In any event, the market will only support prices that are sane based on supply and demand. If such an item is so hard to make, the demand doesn't support the price sought, well than no one will make it, or such few will make it such that the supply of the item gives whomever supplies it the price they're looking for.
hehe bump.
any new info? or do i have to start a char in Ahazi just to check?
This sounds like a rather entertaining experience, do keep us apprised. I care very little for whatever affect you think you'll have on the economy of Ahazi -- because I'm not there, and because it won't work anyway -- but I will be very interested to see how long you can maintain the pace you'll need to do what you say you will.
I think you have failed to grasp that the truly enjoyable part of weaponsmithing is custom work. Any fool with time and a million credits can grind their way to master WS, then mass-produce weapons. What makes weaponcrafting FUN is the personalized, custom work or krayt weaponry you do for folks. That "wow!" they get when you hand them a gun twice as good as their old one that you made with krayt tissue they went out and earned. That elite weapon is a tangible reward for their work, and I always smile at the reaction people have when they bring me krayt tissue that I turn into a masterpiece of their choosing. THAT is what makes weaponsmithing worthwhile.
Somehow you've overlooked the joy of making weapons and are too bitter over the cost... which is amusing, considering how easy it is to earn credits. Why is it that we should work our asses off to make you great weapons, but you shouldn't have to work very hard to earn the cash to buy them?
I think you're going to find that marketing your weapons is more of a challenge than you think. No merchant skills? You, my friend, are clearly not a novice merchant and have never read the merchant profession boards. You DO realize that well over half the merchant profession (including the planetary map listing you mention) is busted, right? It's not just weaponsmiths getting screwed out of good marketing tools, it's everyone.
Nevertheless, I wish you luck, if for no other reason than the entertainment value. I doubt very seriously we'll hear from you again when this venture fails, as I've no doubt that it will. But the journey should be worth hearing about, irregardless of the outcome.
Just remember, you can have it good, fast, or cheap. Pick two.
/hugs Orion
you guys are mean ![]()
I'll buy an el-crapo gun from you, O. Just come to Sunrunner when you're done ruining your home server.
Quite simply the funniest post I have ever read! I've had to change my underwear twice.
Good luck to you Orion! I guarantee in under 2 months you will either:
A) Release the weaponsmiths are quite right, it's hellishly hard work and the prices people charge for weapons fairly represent the investment put intomaking them. I'd hope you'll post back here if this happens, but I very much doubt someone as bitter and angry as you would also possess that level of humility.
B) You'll have a nervous breakdown
I've made a note of your username, and will be watching your posts over the next few weeks to see which one of the two predictions come true!
So sad, so tragic, but so perversly entertaining.....
I hope this post was all a big joke, and done for entertainment. If not..er...well...nah I can't go ther its too pathetic....oh one thing...does your parents know you stay up too late and play this game?

forceone, i love your style!! you entertain me as much as all the other crybaby flamers here!!
blah blah blah, you'll never make guns as good as me!!!
HAHA!!! if you were so great, you'd be the only weaponsmith out there. since there are more than two weaponsmiths on Ahazi, I guess you suck as much as me, right?
wow. some people think i take this game too seriously.
i think you all take this forum too seriously.
blah blah blah, ruin the economy? i got a friend who played in Beta. he said that decent FWG5's ran about 400 credits there. funny..... 400 to 10k in just a few months?
oh, and as for the prices of resources, you guys are morons. i guess you need to learn how to read again. i said i don't have to pay for any resources, and i have people who hunt them down for me. and just so you have more of a reason to flame me....
within the 18 hours since first starting this thread, i've had 31 replies, all negative. but in game i've made 50,000 credits, and gotten two skills off the first tier. funny.... i didn't have to grind a thing. just UXP, that's all. Man, you all need to learn how to play. I look at your tags on your posts.... I look at weaponsmiths outfits and equipped weapons in-game. I noticed that you all have some kind of Combat skills...
so, instead of crafting, and looking for decent resources, you're all too busy running destroy missions and sucking the life out of mission terminals, right?
since you are all so grand, and you all know everything, why don't you explain the immense improbability that you have the power to master a combat profession, AND hunt down decent materials at the same time? OH!!! I GOT IT!!!
you must all be about 16 years old, living with mommy and daddy, without any bills to pay, and with no job!!!
whew... i'm glad i figured that one out. if you don't have a job, and spend 18 hours a day on SWG, you can master both weaponsmith AND pistoleer. or whatever.
neat trick.
I read your bios. when i see the story arc badges on there, i know you wasted a little time on those as well. while you were all hunting Kimos on Lok, I was looking for resources. while you were all shouting in the streets to get a sale (hehe.... merchant skills....) i was looking for more resources, and setting up harvesters. while you were all grinding faction XP in anchorhead, I was crafting items and placing them on the bazaar. it's amazing.
heck. I've only sold a few pistols. but i've given a ton of em away. newbies shout in the street for a used pistol or rifle. i give em one. they use it for a bit, then they end up selling it or giving it away. wash, rinse, repeat.
You know, even if i don't pull this off, which i probably won't. At least i'll have gotten to master weaponsmith with a little respect. I will be the only weaponsmith who didn't sit in front of a crafting station all day grinding barrels. I'll have earned my XP the way it was intended. with use xp.
Most of you probably don't know what that is, so i'll remind you.
Use xp comes from whenever an item you've created is used. pretty hard concept, eh? yeah.... i understand. it's okay if you don't get it.
in simple terms, it means you don't have to grind 1 million barrels to get weaponsmith the fastest. You just make what you can, and convince people to use it. that's all.
now, i know blah blah blah that you are all master weapon crafting ninjas, and loyalty and blah blah blah, but i gotta tell ya, when i get that much money, and that much xp in just a day, without just grinding with some stupid macro......
....you gotta wonder where the loyalty line is drawn. now, you might mistake loyalty for friendship. sure, you can have a loyal customer that enjoys buying from you because you craft superior items at affordable prices. that's loyalty.
friendship is when you send out emails saying "please don't use so and so's weapons. She's trying to put us all out of business!!!" that's friendship.
i'm 100% sure that at least 5 of you have already sent out your "WARNING!! COMPETITION!!!" emails. good for you. you got those merchant skills way under control!!!
maybe you didn't realize it at first, because it wasn't right in your face, but this thread is basically one huge flame for all you weaponsmiths out there. I'm having as much fun watching you defend your self respect, as i do watching people run to me to get weapons. I know, I know, it's not supposed to work.... People are supposed to go to the tried and true weaponsmiths, right? the ones who got weaponsmith in the first week, and decided "Oooh!!! now i'm the master!!! I can charge what i like!!!"
whenever one of you posts here, i know that deep down inside, you know you are a sad little roleplayer. sure, flame that one. please!!! i'm begging you to!!! that way i know exactly who this statement applies to.
the ones who flame me... i know how you feel. I mean really feel. it's okay, you can respond to that with sarcasm or flaming. it's allowed, i think....
but i know you sit there, in front of your computer, grinding barrel, after barrel, after barrel. then you qualify for a skill. so you run out in the middle of town screamin "CAN ANYONE TEACH ME INTERMEDIATE FIREARMS CRAFTING?". then you get your skill, but you're kinda bored with grinding, so you pick up the last weapon you just made, and you decide to run a couple destroy missions. you get a few credits, then you chat for a bit. then you log. the next day, you do the whole thing over again. finally, you got master weaponsmith. but you have no idea what you are doing, because the whole time, you maybe used 15 of your schematics. maybe 18 at the most, so you gotta keep checking the resources to make sure you're using the right ones. you start to get the hang of it. so you look around a bit to see what people are looking for. you get a few tells asking for particular weapons. the popular ones. FWG5's, T21's, VK's.... so on.. so you start mass producing those. then, eventually, you are out screaming "SELLING T21'S, BLAH BLAH BLAH, PST!!!" and a few people respond, checking the price, and you manage to sell about 2-3.
so, you get tired of doing THAT all day, so you put a vendor in your house. now, you're sales are great near Anchorhead, Bestine, and Moenia. Maybe Theed and Keren do alright as well. Coronet might be able to keep up for a bit.. you sell maybe 40-50. then business kinda peters out. so your back in the streets, screaming again. you join a guild. they help you out by using your weapons. but you've already got the XP you need. so you don't care about who uses them. all you care about is how much money is in your pocket. but you end up having money. at least some. so you focus less on selling or crafting weapons, and more on your pistoleer skills. you build em up. you get used to crafting one type of weapon, which just happens to be the one you are using. You manage to pop out a real Uber weapon once in awhile. you keep 2-3 on you just in case.
then, you are no longer a weaponsmith. you're a pistoleer with weaponsmith skills. It's not about hunting down resources, or evenly distributing your experimentation points, or finding the best combination of chems and minerals. It's about how close you are to beating the game.
I know that's how you feel. you don't have to say it, and you won't. or if you do, it'll be in some real sarcastic way, or with some insult or cruel remark. that's okay too. we all went to high school. or maybe some of you are still looking foreward to that.
But it's the truth, whether you want to admit it or not.
now, you probably weren't raised to admit when you are wrong, or when you are lying. so i won't ask any of you to do that.
if i'm no worry to you, ignore me. but obviously you won't do that, because you realize you are speaking with a REAL crafter. one who didn't just get engineering 4 and went straight to weaponsmith. i mastered artisan before even THINKING about becoming a weaponsmith.
anyway.... blah blah blah.(insert flame here) but i hope you at least understand that i'm sure none of you had made two first tier skills without grinding. that may not mean much to the kiddies, but it means alot to me. it means that people are actually using MY weapons. and THAT's how i get my XP.
have fun.
remember, before you flame, IT'S JUST A GAME!!! don't take it too seriously!!
Hummm...so this went from a rant about selling guns for two high a price...to suddenly being all NOBLE about gaining exp the right way...from UXP? hummmm funny....
just to knock on some points in your post you clueless weaponsmith....T21's cant be made on ahazi.....so i won't be mass producing them....so just so you know to tell your "clientele".
WOOT you made 50k! you sir are on a role! omg don't spend it all on one harvestor. oh wait...you can now afford that fwg5 you where complaining about. OMG!!!! you have WAY TOO MUCH MONEY!!!! you better give it away now you greedy weaponsmith...you are now no better then any of us with credits. charging what you are charging for guns is uterrly reduculoous now....you are your own paradox! if anyone buys a gun from him he is now a greedy, selfcentered, manipulative, opportunistic crafter praying on the ignorance of others and exploiting all those that don't know how to make 10k credits in under an hour doing missions. this is just wrong, no one can make credits in this game...no one....how dare you take advantage of people and not cut them a break.
and giving away free weapons IMHO is grinding whether you like it or not....if you goin to do it the "RIGHT" way...better just make guns when there is a need for the gun..instead of running up to joe blow and giving away weapons.
oh and if you where even tuned into the resouces on ahazi...we are in a serious draught....so you can keep looking to upgrade your steel from the 500 OQ 500 CON that you are using...but i will continue to use my 970OQ 600CON steel that i dont need to upgrade. us establlished smiths already have the best....and only when we need to do we have to do this so called "HUNT" for the best resources. its called BEING ESTABLISHED! and if you had any flippin clue you would realize that we did all of this since day one of live. and now since we have a clientele and have the best resources and can make the best weapons on the server we dont need to activily hunt down anymore. and if you understand how shifts work...you can anticipate when it will happen...and do it then!
Your comments about since we flame we are worried...lol!! omg i flame you because i can see how furious you are about this and what contempt you seem to hold. it just shows me that you really dont know how to play this game and how paying 15-20k for the best FWG5 that can be made on the server is wrong. or how we grinded this or grinded that.. or your complete lack of knowledge about merchant issues. Heck i am giving up the planetary map thing...because i never set it anymore and frankly i dont need to...i get tells saying "i keep asking about who is the best...and your name keeps coming up...can i get your waypoint" that is what i get. and i am sure alot of the other great WS get too.
i got more orders and business then i can handle...and not once have i got a complaint that price was too high. Seems only newbs like you that dont understand how to run a mission to make money to earn your stuff. you want it all and you want it free and now. i have no sympathy for you in that....and you are actually worse then the people selling an fwg5 for 15k...you are exploiting people and trying to take advantage of others hard work and game time.
But overall, you sir are obvisouly way better then all of us people that carry a weapon and like to kill some stuff on our way to harvestors..or go hunt with our friends. Yup you are the real deal. a "REAL" crafter..a true purest weaponsmith. I should only be so lucky to grace your prescence and bask in your aura...oh mighty guru of the weapon crafting skill. you have shown me the error of my ways....how dare i carry a gun and kill stuff....i should be giving away free stuff all the time....charging 300 credits for Rocket launchers....free crates of munitions...yes i see your point. Less is more...help thy common man....live with no possesions...have all my friends support my cause.....your right...my 5 hours of game time would be better spent....doing what you do. why didint i see it before. i must return to my shop..close it down...free weapons for all!! i dont need credits or to maintian the economy...NO. i will use all the best ore on ahazi extinct for months...and just give it away. yes that is what i will do! WAIT!!! i am giving up WS and goin to relearn it...because i was such a fool for making some guns selling them on bazaar...grinding on swords....how dare i.....I feel so dirty!
This thread is cracking me up.....lol
I'm on Tempest, so it really has nothing to do with me,......but....
Orion.
Just to summarise for you. I think what most weaposnmiths are saying is......
Go right ahead......do your worst!
Cos we all basically couldn't care less ![]()
While you are wasting your time carrying out your ridiculous enterprise, myself and all the other weaponsmiths will be sat here all having a good laugh at your expense. Whats even funnier is when you re-post to attempt to justify your idea.
So, in order to end on a positive note, since you've been flamed to a crisp....
Thx for a good laugh my friend. Ever since medieval times, communities have needed a village idiot, and you satisfy that job description to a tee ![]()
Maybe you should be an entertainer next?
