Thread: Accuracy Bonus on guns even work?

Accuracy bonus does work... however only if you accuracy is already higher then other player.

I did the test (with pup / w/o pup) agains master TKA and did the exact same damage each time.

However I did same against a npc (80 bol) and this time I got the bonus added.

So the accuracy bonus only adds IF your accuracy is higher the opponets defense... if its not than it is worthless... ie worthless agains most jedi... but good for pve

That would absolutely make sense. The thing i cant figure out, is that even against a Jedi I was pretty certain i hitting higher than min damage (thats before any mitagation and thats using a standard range shot not a special). So......let me check again also. My tests were down months ago, even before the new crazy scopes.

You got the figure on the accuracy bonus added to your damage?

Thanks for testing that.

Hmm this is the exact opposite of what my test results showed, but perhaps the 8 difference wasnt enough

On my test my master TKA friend had ICOB going..

His defence is 270 with tapes... so 770 defense

My accuracy with tapes is 288 (no buffs in test)... so that is big difference... I did with TKA / ICOB cause most jedi run the +500 defense macro...

It could be that the accuracy bonus will work within a certian dmg accuracy.... maybe if acc is withing 50 or something like that....

I will try to test again with out ICOB running to get an idea of how it works if defense/accuracy is simmiliar.

For fun I hit a lvl 1 npc with same test too (I know I am cruel)

Against a lvl 1 I did over 200 more damage, then when I had pup that negated accuracy bonus.... so I also think the bonus is a type of muliplier (not sure how) not a additioner.

Or perhaps it only works against players? Or NPCs?

Not that it would make much sense.

Anyway this certainly needs more testing and thanks a lot for all the effort you are putting into it. IfI get the time to do it I will try to testfurther myselfbefore I go to work tonight

Summerflame: Your 8 point accuracy difference with your particular gun should have made a 2 point damage difference. Small but noticeable. I posted the way to calculate this earlier in this thread.

So we have contradictory information -- several people report that the weapon accuracy mod does nothing while Anarachicgorilla reports that it does under certain circumstances. I appreciate everyone who tested and I will try to remember to test this myself. If Anarchcgorilla could post more testing details, that'd be great because his data is the abberation at the moment and with all his deleted posts it's a little hard to tell exactly what he did.

Just as a test of the damage formula I keep quoting:

delta damage = (max - min) * delta defense * 0.00066255

so

(max-min) = delta damage / delta defense / 0.00066255

(max-min) = 12 / 40 / 0.00066255 = 453

Fabkins -- does your weapon have a damage spread of 453?

Hi,

My min-max is 457-1061 , thats a delta of 604.

Not quite sure what the formula calculates.

The formula is from this useful thread. Once you take the 70% reduction from PvP into account (which I forgot in my original prediction) and the error of 1 or 2 damage from the thread, it correctly gives your max-min spread.

Anyway, I don't mean to pollute this thread with tangential discussions. I was just curious to make sure the formula I keep using in discussions like this one is right. It would appear so. It would also appear that the evidence to starting to overwhelmingly suggest the weapon accuracy mod is broken. Thanks for your testing.

Uhm that threadis interesting. Thanks will read it at length.

Is your above calculation a short form of the one in the thread?

make some maxxed out accuracy ranged powerups and you'll see that once you get into the +70 range there is a difference

Here's an ideal example:

I assume the weapon accuracy bonus numbers are broke, huh.....

As you can see from my thread above, crispics which change accuracy by +40 makes a difference but +40 on a Weapon accuracy doesnt?

So are you saying weapon accuracy is effective but not 1 to 1 releationship to the standard accuracy mods?

Ok ive repeated some tests and as far I seeagainst players weapon accuracy has no effect. Here are my tests:

I was shooting another player. My carbine has an accuracy of 58.

Test 1: Accuracy 58

Shoot using range shot and I get: 541 Damage

Test 2: Accuracy 58 - 39 = 19 (I put a speed pup with -39 acc)

Shoot using range shot and I get: 541 Damage

Test 3: Accuracy 58 - 39 = 19 (I put a speed pup with -39 acc) + with Crispics that give +40 ranged accuracy

Shoot using range shot and I get: 553 Damage

Test 4: Accuracy 58 + with Crispics that give +40 ranged accuracy

Shoot using range shot and I get: 553 Damage

This test demonstrates two things:

1) Adding removing accuracy from the weapon in the +40 accuracy range has no effect

2) Eating crispics that do +40 accuracy has an effect

This discounts the theory that accuracy mods of 40 cause imeasurable changes in damage.

This was against a player, it doesnt disprove effectiveness of weapons accuracy against creatures although my subjective opinion is that it probably wont be any different.

Background detail:

Person has ranged defence of 252. My modded accuracy without crispic or weapon is 349. My weapons min damage is 457.
