I understand where this post is coming from, but if you want to see the limit of a jedi's power, take him big game hunting.
You see, they can't wear armor anymore, and they now use force at a higher rate than they used to. Unless they have someone to tank for them, they will shy away from the very high end pve mobs.
I took a jedi out to hunt for crystals on dath. We killed lower level ns for about an hour and a half, then we went in search of some elders. 2/3 of the way through the first elder, my jedi friend ran out of force. Jedi's fear a battle where they are low on force because they take dmg at a higher rate than we do if they get hit.
It only takes a jedi 6 minutes to go through and elder, and most of that dmg is done in the first two minutes. That's when the force starts to run out. They can only fight in these big fights if they have a melee tank with them.
The second elder we fought wandered into the path of a third elder and big huge chaos ensued. My jedi friend actually wanted to run from the fight. I took screenies so I could taunt him with them. He's no sissy jedi either. He converted over as a 4 4 4 4 guardian.
If you want to run the jedi out of the geo cave, just stay there until some more ppl show up and so that the spawn rates increase. When the spawns go up, they won't be able to keep up with their force regen and will have to leave.

Your analysis breaks down - except for high level mobs like NS Elders, Krayts, Kimo's - when a group of Jedi appears - 2-3 coordinated Jedi is all it takes to camp and loot whore the GeoCave Merc Room all day long.
Really the situation is almost painfully trivial - make as much of the content instanced. I've seen this work QUITE well in CoH, and the Corvette was a great example, but then, you still have the Cave, DWB and whatever else comes our way.
Of course, the suggestion is painfully trivial. The implementation is a different story.
Moreoever there is NO impetus and NO significant content for Jedi - I mean, come one, killing 2 graul maulers as part of your Jedi trials? So of course, MOST Jedi - especially given the typical archetype of the person who grinds to Jedi - will then default to loot whoring.
Fundamentally, the bit that bothers me is the abortion of the Jedi concept and the SWG universe. Then again, I'm old enough to be jaded and I should not be surprised at the importance that $ take over the license that Lucasarts whores out.

well this games situation has gotten worse with the combat balance delay. there will be people quitting which is not good at all. pvp is dying more and more everyday because now the attitude of non jedi pvpers is "i dont want to help a jedi advance so i will just never go overt anymore." not to mention many many jedi are exploiting the frs system and just killing there guild mates over and over. what that does ismake even stronger jedi which the game does not need.

Great points made on this thread, thanks for starting it Biggs. Although I agree with all your concerns my choice is to remain a MWS and leave it as wait and see. I'm certain with your success Biggs that it's not just from luck and/or power gaming but your willingness to adapt to the direction of the game.

I recall reading in a dev chat or station column that Weaponsmiths will be a part of the "future" of PVP. They were kinda vague on this, but they essentially said that * any * profession will be able to have some kind of advantage in combat. This to me, the vagueness, is but a mere hint of what they have in store for combat rebalance. Those of us who have been playing the game and crafting weapons or involved in the resource trade since the games launch and been actively involved in PVP (because there is little challenge in PVE) understand that really Master Doc + either Rifle/CM/TKA/Swordsman are the really only decent PVP templates.
You gotta be able to cure yourself, you can't rely on a Master Doc to heal you in any kind of battle bigger than say 3 on 3. Even though CM got hit with a range nerf bat, the stuff still ticks hard if you use all advanced resources, even better with good spider venom.
Let's also keep in mind that the devs have hinted at changes in Composite Armor. We may no longer even be able to use 40%+ Stun Armor sliced up for higher base %'s. IF Composite Armor is given an across the board resist adjustment to all damage types, this would open up all offensive classes on the PVP scene. Another though, they may introduce changes to MOBS doing different kinds of damage other than mere Kinetic.
The devs are working on COMBAT re-balance. This will encompass both PVE & PVP and all weapons, armor and loot drops. With what they have introduced with the Jedi classes, I suspect, the period between 9.0 and Combat Rebalance will be a short lived moment of glory for them. For months they had to hide, level in secret and fear and only the 4-4-4-4 Guardians really came out to play. Now they are getting their oppertunity to get some PVP experience, with a well earned advantage. Hell if you got nothing better to do with your time than grind 32 Professions since Christmas to unlock a FS slot, more power to you.
Lastly, Publish 10 will grant FS abilities via the quest system to any character. Atleast that it what Iunderstand they implied. I think it would be exciting to see a mix of our usual professions with some FS abilities thrown in.
I know your Jedi is fairly new Biggens, so don't get discouraged with the current state of the game. The hardcore WS's understand the in's and out's of all offensive professions. We know this from the volume of weapons we sell for a given class. Right now, Rifles simply rule hands down. But I recall in the past when Rifleman were laughed at. The Jawa Ion Rifle was barely, if ever, bought, because the "perception" was the Laser was King.
Have some faith in the devs. They know what they do with Publish 10 & 11 will make or break the game. The know the numbers of subscribers they lost due to the Holocron Disaster. I sure hope they fired the nerd who came up with that one!

The situation is worse then most of you know. The combat rebalance is what kept a huge segment of the population in the game. Now they are leaveing in disgust. Go to the top thread in the indevelopment forum. The first one with that title got archived after it hit 64 pages of free rangeing hate and cancelations. So with fewer people needing ws especially once the next patch comes. You also need to realize just how many accounts are leaveing the game. I know of 7 other players I know personally cancelling subscriptions.
The lack of balance is ratcheting up enflation. Armor costing a million buffs costing 25k, and we are no longer matching profit wise. You just cannot sell a pistol for such high prices. So if your useing a crafter to support some combat. You are screwed better to run buffed missions to make money then craft. Weaponsmiths cannot even change the prices enough to equal out. Pvp is dead long ago in a distant time the best pistol or carbine meant something. It was a real edge in combat. Not anymore. Infact I have talked to more people that say they buy them cheap get them sliced and pop on an attachment. Since getting a new gun is so easy and so cheap. Our profession is being moderated by artisans and smugglers, and less by us.
Well its bad news all around. A huge chunk of the players have left or are in the process of leaveing, the jedi system is out of whack, and the economy is rocketing through the roof. It is a trifecta against anyone trying to have value in the economy of the game, or to have their work valued.

your server is far worse off the mine. the buffs on radiant are 10k, top of the lline suits of armor 300k at the most. and i still do several million dollars a day as a weaponsmith.
but yeah there are alot fo people leaving and the ones that arent leaving totally are leaving for now then comming back to try jtl. lean days could be ahead

I feal good your server is lagging behind mine. You might stay above water longer. Our buffs used to be 10k till someone found out what other servers were chargeing, and now the buff bots are unionizeing to set prices in the game. The armor on my server the eighty percent plus ones are going for about 125 k. I will not tell you what the 90 percent kinetic resist ones are going for.
Then again I was never a bulk seller. I liked to sell maybe a 100 weapons a week. The crafter was a support for my combat, and I was haveing fun doing both. Sadly there is just more money in the missions. Then in building unless you sell tons of weapons a day. I just closed my shop a couple days ago very sad.
My accounts will be gone in a week and I do not know if I will be comeing back.

I'd love to see more instanced stuff.
It was the best thing to happen to EQ when i used to play.
At the current state of SWG Im pretty much just waiting for EQ2 to launch and Im out, though I really want to see what JTL brings.

It continues to get worse. Apparantly SOE is gungho about increaseing the jedi in the game. In other words converting as much of the player base to jedi as possible. Here is an interview you should all read very disturbing.

I agree very much, with craftable weapons that you can mount on spacecraft, this will be great for the weaponsmith since components for ship itself would be able to be destroyed. Then you can have armorsmiths make shield generators and then Shiprwrights make ships and whatever other components that you can put onto ships like radar etc...this would be a great way to have another source of income for the crafting proffesions and there would be no way to escape it, even for jedi who choose space flight.

I know everyone **edit** about the combat medics, but our weapons would do just as much dmg as the poisons if the damn armor wasn't so uber. I say we lynch the armorsmiths.

That interveiw was rather eye-opening. They really have no clue. They contradict so much of what I see on the boards and are so smug about their focus group interactions. Who are in these focus groups, has anyone been involved in one? Or is it just a chimp sitting in a chair hitting a button marked "YES" and getting a banana?
