Thread: POLL: Who will actually Quit SWG if they Take away our Crafting as we know it?
I understand what you all are saying, but what you don't understand is that this IS what is going to happen. Complaining about it won't get you anywhere. You are all taking this as some personal attack on you by the Devs. It's not, it affects everyone in every class. To completely level the playing field, maybe they should do like they did for non-CH pets and have a trade in system. As of launch date for publish 7, all weapons become useless until traded in for weapons that follow the new publish's guidelines. This would eliminate this spaz about people hording pre-nerf weapons and flooding the market with overpriced everything.
Let's just make our weapons to the best of our ability and find our own little niches to sell them. Not everyone is Uber, ya know, there are noobs, and middle class professions that don't require the best of the best.
On the other side of the coin, go ahead and quit, I wouldnt want to do business with any of you if I was someone looking for a good weapon anyways
Maybe the Devs are doing this on purpose to weed out all the whiners and outrageous weapon price selling Smith's? If so, I hope they accomplish their mission LMAO
Excuse me please, before you go to name calling please learn how the system works, and not just parrot a Dev, most of whom didn't even know that factories gave 100% XP, etc, etc.
We do not get 100%, ever! Well, OK, I came close using a 1,000 OQ resource on a 100% OQ item, but unless all of your resource are 1,000 in the experiment stats 100% is not possible.
What currently happens is that you get 100% of WHAT IS POSSIBLE given the stats on the resources you are using, with less then all 10 experiment points committed. In those cases where you have points left over after maxing 1 line, read DAMAGE cause I still haven't had a player say, "oh skip damage and give me HAM and durability", then you could use those points to make a slightly better weapon in HAM, Accuracy, or durability.
This allowed some differences between Masters based on how patient you were, how willing you were to commit resources and parts to a given experiment, by repeating it multiple times to get the best possible result given the resources you have, and yes even given a bit of luck.
Now, the new system, you do all of the above to get 100% of the damage POSSIBLE GIVEN THE RESOURCES YOU HAVE, how many times does that have to be said, by using all 10 of your points. That is assuming you get "Great" results on each experiment pass, and that with in great you get the max number of boxes possible. (Don't you just love getting a Great currently and seeing only 7 boxes pulled instead of 8, that means you actually got a crap experiment, for me I hit ESC at that point and start over. Well, depending of course, some things are gated, like rifle barrels where I can currently use 2nd rate resources and get the same damage as top of the line. )
So, in fact what this does is exactly the opposite of what the Dev's post In Test, they being to good to deign to speak on a WS issue on the WS board, said they wanted. Chrys SAID this is to cause us to compete by creating differences in our choices. UM, Chrys ARE YOU NUTS? Or do you just not know how the game is played, far more likely, these Devs tend to have very little idea of what actually goes on, which is why so few of their changes have the intended effect.
I say again, and again, and again, until they get it. DAMAGE IS KING, nothing else matters, the HAM, Durability and Accuracy scores are all "nice to have but you can't sell a single weapon based on them if the damage is less then the next Masters weapon." What is so hard to understand about that? Hell, to some degree it's even faulty reasoning. Take a Republic Blaster, if you can't hit with it, what good is the damage? But guess what, the average player doesn't think about that, they glance at the max damage, and compare it to what their buddy bragged about having. Add to that, my RB's are +6 accuracy, without experimenting, due to a very nice Scope that I make. Those players that buy the Scope version have the Food and Buffs to cover the HAM so they don't care about the costs.
THIS IS HOW PEOPLE MAKE PURCHASES! Just waving a Dev wand at WS isn't going to change that.

First of all, I haven't heard or read anything that says they are making as grand a change as you imply. Posting silly polls like this only incites flaming from those that will jump at any little rumor. If you have something to say, spell it out so everyone understands what you are saying, and back it with a little bit of proof. Otherwise you are just wasting valueable time typing it out.
Oh man, do you actually read those boards before post-pumping stupidity? You are wasting all our time with posting your thoughts...
On a more constructive note, I will quit. I will quit 2 accounts right away, and will leave my WS account until some friends from the guild have taken over everything, so at least all those resources and customer connections are not lost.
But yes, I will quit. Not as much because of weapons being worse than before. Just because if they put this in, I loose the last bit of faith and trust in the devs. I just can not justify paying folks like Thunderheart, after the way they keep treating us players / customers. They just don't deserve my money.
I will wait and see.
95% of my game experience is crafting. Currently SWG has the best crafting system I have ever seen in a game. It therefore scares me that they will make such drastic changes to crafting. From what I have read, they will take much of the fun out of crafting. I am a weaponsmith but I will NEVER start stock-piling pre-nerf weapons just so that I can sell them at insane prices after the nerf. I simply cannot see the fun in doing that. If the result is that I will not be able to sell any weapons after the nerf, I will quit weaponsmith and focus on my other crafting profession - Architect. If architects are as badly hurt as weaponsmiths, I will most likely quit the game. Since I am also mayor of a city, this may very well cause many of my friends/citizens to quit also.
you don't.
at the moment, if the resource is 500, your cap is 50%, same as after the "fix". resources DO affect thequality of the weapon.only now, you only need to spend 7 points to get there. with your remaining 3 points, you could put it elsewhere, perhaps HAM or perhaps accuracy, just to make up for the crappiness of the resources you're using. with proposed fix, even if the max is 20%, you would have to spend ALL your points to get to that crappy 20%.
was it really necessary to resort to name-calling?

Please reply Quit, or Stay. Im just curious, and think the devs might find it interesting. (as if they will even see this post though)
I for one might very well quit since crafting was the neatest most involved aspect of the game.
Please ... quit ... right now ... and rid us of another useless knee jerk reactionary person.
Let's see ... been a smith for about 6 or 7 months now. I sell about 100+ weapons per day ... and 4 weeks after the publish how many weapons do you think I will be selling? about 100 weapons per day.
So ... exactly how is this going to affect me? Oh, you mean everybody is going to stop buying weapons? and so I will go broke? and the game won't be any fun anymore? Hmm ... don't think so.
No, I will not be affected for any great length of time so it really doesn't make a hill of beans difference in what they do as long as they do it to everyone :-)
So sit down, shut up, and go back to school.
If you want to do something constructive, post in the current Dev thread on this subject ... but don't bother saying "I will quit" ... cause they ignore children throwing tantrums.
The nerf itself is not really that important to me anymore. I can pretty much see it is going through no matter what. All that will effect my choice to stay in WS or not is the secondary effects of it.

Don't you just love peeps who can't act like adults? The ones who have to flame someone just because they have a different point of view???? I am upset with this supposed fix, why you ask? The main problem is the resource attribute cap for alot of the specific resources needed for weapon smithing. What does that mean? Well it means if your making weapons that take resources that are close to the 1000 limit not much, you should still get the same or close to the same increase in each experimentation. Now, for the resources that have caps, ie Plumbum Iron, Polonium Iron, Rhodium Steel, Desh Copper etc, those weapons that require those resources will be worse, probably alot worse than can be made now. TH said that the caps are there to create diveresty in the resources, why do you need a cap? I've seen plenty of diveresity on all the other resources that have minimal caps. You get diveresity by randomizing the attributes, sometimes you get lucky and have great ones, most of the time you don't. That is why even now you hardly ever see any E11's, because the Plumbum required for them has never seen over 82 Conductivity, all the other weapons are hands and feet over them. Why would any WS sell them when he can make other weapons that are much better? He won't. What will happen now, is the weapons that aren't effected as much by this will become the mainstay of weapon smithing, there will be even less choice for the consumer. In the end everybody loses out in away. Yes you might continue to sell your 100 weapons aday, but have fun making the same weapon over and over and over and over and over and over and over,,,,,,,, Now doesn't that sound fun to you???? I just love the monotony, takes me back to my WS grinding days of making Scout after Scout after Scout after Scout after Scout after Scout after Scout after Scout,,,,,, "slaps self and tries to stop the eye twitch" And in response to your question, I will stay for abit and check it out, if it is as bad as it looks from the peeps who tried it out on Test, yes I will leave SWG, I've been WSing since the end of the first week of SWG. I left EQ because of they way crafting was done, I spent 3 days camping no drop and no rent items to make Shadow Armor "can't remember the name" and out of 150+ combines at 193 smithing skill I got "0" skill increases. That was the end, it was bad enough trying to find groups, and soloing was boring, but do all that work and no skill increases "shakes head ruefully" I had my fill. I don't PvP, I hardly PvE with my other Account, my love is crafting, specifically Weaponsmithing or Armorsmithing. Instead of trying for all greats to make a schematic with the new patch I need to get all greats and a amazing, once it becomes like work I will quit.
