To me it sounds the real issue for youis rather that you (and many other crafters) are not getting the attention you deserve, not that some WS have big egos. I am not flaming you but it much looks like that when I ready your comments. In which way do they have big egos?

As I see it that being a good ws is more being a good businessman than a crafter. Crafting weapons are simple, everyone can do it. Not much of choices really (professions like doctor, as, and chef rquire a lot more skill than ws). And to market you need to tell people that you are good in one way or another.

The difference is how good you are at marketing and all other things you have to do be "succesful". And a lot of hard work as well.

But I do agree, there are a lot of ws that none is talking about who are making excellent weapons.

Not at all, I am well recognised on my server but that does not make me feel I am better than anyone else. That is my only point. Sure we all have an ego, ofcourse but we dont all let it goto our heads and become very unapproachable.

I talk to my customers like they are members of the community, not something i just scraped off my shoe

I was drunk when i started this thread last night so possibly it could have been better worded.

I have seen a number of people try to make themselves appear better than everyone else and have a "why are YOU talking to ME?" attitude.

thats all im reffering to.

Its mostly a matter of 'if you speak up' (ala marketing), then you get spoken too.

If you speak up limitedly, say for instance, I speak up about bowcasters, I'll get my fair share of questions of if I am making them or can you make me a superior bowcaster than a T21, at which point, I'll show them a T21.

Speaking up about everything tends to land too many questions to make a productive life in this business.

Certainly I carry other weapons, but I don't push all of them.

While I have a hard time condoning this attitude, also realize that high-profile players on ANY server get bombarded with useless tells about all sorts of random things. This can be insanely frustrating, and is why I encourage players to contact me via in-game mail. It can lead to grumpiness. =)

I don't mind answering questions about weapon-crafting; I've happily been doing that since Tempest went live. But when random people I don't know send me tells asking about armor vendors or trainer locations or whether or not the Acklay is currently spawned, I get a touch annoyed.

Yeah, there are acouple of these guys on my server. Let's call them "Maicey" and "Lokot". I really hate those guys. Think they are so much better than me just because I'm vertically challenged.

Not that I have ever had anyone run against me as mayor. It is still the Principle of the thing, you can't pay for it if it is a bribe.

Now my Ego as a Weaponsmith is nowhere close to my Ego as a Politican.

Hmm is that why my favorite tool hasn't gotten an update .

Actually this is why I was lost the other day in the thread about it. While I have been a Weaponsmithing Jenner for Many years in MMORPG's. To the best of my knowledge I have not put out any programs. Must be an Evil me running around.

So what are you saying Lotok i have a huge ego? I dont notice it as much anymore but when i first began playing on eclipse there were 2-3 that really bugged me. Seemed they were just to good to speak to me. Im always willing to help out my fello Weaponsmith. I cant say that i got the same treatment when i started. But thanks to Lotok and some others you know there are some Weaponsmith that you can actually talk to and not get the cold shoulder.

This may, or may not be a cross server issue but im curious anyway.

I have been playing sinceday oneand seen many weaponsmith come and go. I could not help but notice there is always a divide. On one side there are weaponsmith who have been in the game a while but have totally let it goto their head. the credits, the fame etc and have become severely arrogant. This arrogance does not hinder the "fan base" however is apparent to all others.

Sure they make good weapons, as good as everyother weaponsmith who has those resources but they have more recognition and from that recognition they fuel andego so big ithas its own economy.

On the other hand there are those with equally good weapons, they dont really care about fame and recognition etc, they just want to sell a few weapons, RP a bit maybe and have fun.

I find the ones with huge ego really irritating, you can have recognition without the massive Ego but there are always a few who cant help the ego growing beyong control it seems.

Just wondered if it was a cross server thing, also might be a nice discussion. (pls no flaming on this, even tho it may be a sensitive issue to some)

Either way the good folks far out way the bad, just thought it was interesting how only the WS profession seems to have this effect, Ive seen it happen to quite a few folk

i think i know who your speaking about and all i have to say is THANK GOD for normal ego weaponsmith's. I have a 12 point alt WS who sells out of a very small mall out of coronet. i don't actually even advertise at all and still have quite a few daily buys. it took me along time to harvest the resources before i actuallygot my altand i love it. i needed something extra to do =0) but i definately see what your saying with your post.

Yup, I have an ego too ... so does nearly every weaponsmith becuz we make WEAPONS muhahahahahahahahahahah! we aint no bleeding heart docs, or grubby chefs or a slaving armorsmiths

You don't see peeps begs armorsmiths for uber armor, chefs fpr uber food or docs for uber buffs every day ... but I get ATLEAST one request every 30 mins asking for an uber weapon usually with the price as no objection

Are you sure you dont ask the weaponsmiths for the uber armor? Because I'm pretty sure that all weaponsmiths can make armor (Sadly, one ofmy two potential customers I had asked me this -_- (Yeah, I dont have much of a customer base ))

lol happen to me as well. I get tells about all kind of things. I get price check tells from everything from krayt to RIS stuff. In one way it is flattering that people think you know that much about the game but when you are busy trying to craft something or doing a harvester run etc it might become a bit annoying. I curse everytime that I forgot to put up the AFK flag (note for those on Wanderhome: many times I am actually AFK lol. Been much real AFK when doing FS grind)

Hehe many times I been tempted to reply something like "Do you think I am a walking SWG encyclopedia"

I've just about stopped with pricecheck answers.. Not only is it annoying that some stupid LVA dropped from a nightsister is far better and more valued than any LVA I can craft, it really is kinda rude. I mean, how am I going to benefit from said price check? Do I get some type of compensation if they get more money because I "said" it was worth XXXX?

My answer now is this...

Prices change all the time, if you want the most $, offer the item at the galaxy trade forum in an auction.
