This may, or may not be a cross server issue but im curious anyway.

I have been playing sinceday oneand seen many weaponsmith come and go. I could not help but notice there is always a divide. On one side there are weaponsmith who have been in the game a while but have totally let it goto their head. the credits, the fame etc and have become severely arrogant. This arrogance does not hinder the "fan base" however is apparent to all others.

Sure they make good weapons, as good as everyother weaponsmith who has those resources but they have more recognition and from that recognition they fuel andego so big ithas its own economy.

On the other hand there are those with equally good weapons, they dont really care about fame and recognition etc, they just want to sell a few weapons, RP a bit maybe and have fun.

I find the ones with huge ego really irritating, you can have recognition without the massive Ego but there are always a few who cant help the ego growing beyong control it seems.

Just wondered if it was a cross server thing, also might be a nice discussion. (pls no flaming on this, even tho it may be a sensitive issue to some)

Either way the good folks far out way the bad, just thought it was interesting how only the WS profession seems to have this effect, Ive seen it happen to quite a few folk

Part of being successful is having an ego. However, its never good to flaunt that ego or let it go to your head. I believe that you must have confidence. I believe that you must instill in your customers that you, without a doubt, know 100% what you are talking about.

I've been a weaponsmith since july 03. these days, i don't run factory weapons except for myself (only t21s). my business consists of custom work, referals and thats really about it. i will take the time to discuss all options with my customers, and at this point, i really make weapons so people are happy as opposed to profit. i do not charge anything for weapons as long as they are for personal use.

Imight not be a big selling ws. But my ego is big enough. Because i know i craft good weapons and so don't allow people to say bad things about my stuff that's just a very fast addignore. I might not have all the weapons there is yet but what i do have is good. And because i only try to use the best resources there are.(spend a fortune lol) I do make great weapons and i do have lots of happy customers.

Being a big ws or any crafter that's famous you need a ego. Offcourse if this ego will get to big you have a problem but you need it. You need to be confident about your goods.

I actually use weaponsmithing to RP a Crooked Politican. I give my guild/citiziens weapons and they jump up and down when they try to pay me for them, telling them they are ruining my roleplaying experiences since I am trying to bribe them for votes and it is not a bribe if they pay for it. Not that I have ever had anyone run against me as mayor. It is still the Principle of the thing, you can't pay for it if it is a bribe.

Now my Ego as a Weaponsmith is nowhere close to my Ego as a Politican.

WellI suppose the fact that when you craft something your name is on it. Although the game f*cked up all the "Object Creator" names which really pissed me off, not because of my own crafted products but because of relic items that close friends who have left game crafted. Really I don't think it matters what profession you are in, there is only a person behind the toon...there are nice and bad people in all professions. In this game you can be a commando one day and a weaponsmith the next. I would suppose that the people who have been playing since 2003 might be getting a little bit tired of the game and that might show through their attitude.

I think you would find this with any 'big money' crafting profession. I personally don't converse a whole lot with my customers. This is not at all because of ego. Most of it is I have very limited time to be in game. I work some pretty odd hours. But when I am on I find very polite ways to quickly answer their questions or I can usually refer them to the F.A.Q. page on my website. That way they can usually get their questions answered and gain a bit more insight into the weaponsmith profession as a whole. I honestly have to say for being a weaponsmith since the day I started on the Kauri server (around August-Sept 2003) I have had a very very good run of excellent customers. I would like to add that Kauri as a whole has some very good crafters, who all seem to have their ego's in check. I am probably one of the oldest masters left on our server. I'm probably still not the best but, I make the best stuff possible with the materials provided to me and try and keep them cheap.

For me, Ive always been known for melee . I was 1st on my server to have sliced melee vendors etc and people know about my quality and all that. However I dont try to become a community icon or anything. I just play, if someone buys my stuff then good. If they dont, then another crafter is getting a look in which is also good.

not so much on ahazi really, or at least i dont find it that way. If im low on a resource i contact another ws and we trade, if i dont have a certain type of weapon or are low on tissues il ask several other smithies and whoever gets back to me or is online il direct the customer too.

so far its in its infancy but a more formal cooperative will be established soon of smithies of varying skill level.

there is plenty of money around and no need to snipe at each other. we are lucky that we have many smithies..ritha, shiiln, shiloh, myself, giamai, splargo, issoxi, foreverimp, blackstarveggeto etc (sorry if i omitted you) who are commited to the profession and enjoy making weapons without too much pride getting in the way.
