Thread: A Plea to the Community Stop the non-serial Exploit
Hrmn, maybe some positive movement on this, then. I sent Taurin, JustG, and Thunderheart the following PM this morning:
We weaponsmiths would really appreciate it if time was made to fix the exploit that allows unscrupulous smiths to mass-produce scythes and Geonosian pistols using unserialized Geonosian cubes.
Respectfully,
Felton Kel

A few minutes ago, I got this back from JustG:
We have been working on it!
Not much more we can ask, I suppose.

At best this is 3-4 weeks away. I have a feeling the value of white cubes and base krayt tissues will be rising significantly on everyones servers.
So, like every other exploitable bugthat has made its way to Live servers, the impact of these will still be felt for months to come. So in the end, who really won?

Got a response from CSR-ChrisG on this
Unable to copy and paste from a ticket, but I'll quote a few of the highlights:
"..within a very short time, the ability to do so (make schematics from non-serial items) will be removed with a mini-publish."
"Unfortunately, we have not been given authorization to take action against those making such runs, forr which I am extremely sorry for."
I'm hoping that with this mini-publish, that all items created from these schematics go poof. In doing so, the honest Smiths may actually start making some money again.

I don't understand these people. On one hand it's deemed an exploit and a bannable offense, and then here we have another person saying it's something that they cannot take action for!
I'd think it wouldn't be too hard to retrofix this problem. Given there are hard caps on how many of any given say, geo pistol there can be with the same serial (I've never heard of higher than 7 identical serialised cubes) - so therefore a maximum of 6 geo pistols can possibly exist with the same serial. Search database for all geonosian pistols, keeping track of each serial encountered. Should the count ever exceed 6 on any specific serial, either delete the extras - or delete them all as they had to be part of an exploit build. I think that would do the trick.
Then of course, something destructive could always have the chance of doing wide damage ...
[EDIT] Of course that may not work for Krayt tissued weapons. Oh well.

Its not fair to the honest weaponsmiths who didnt exploit the tissue schematics and recently bought white serial numberless cubes like fish do on our server then call the kettle black

Crafting
Manufacturing schematics that were created with a generic item in a slot that required a serialized item will no longer be usable.
Generic items will no longer be able to be put into slots that require serialized components.

What's not fair, exactly? I don't follow your logic. It's not fair to people who just went out and bought unseralized cubes specifically so they could use this exploit?

Any idea why?
