If you are curious how I price my weapons, it's pretty complicated but I think it's fair.
generic resources are priced at 25 cpu, specific (ie doonium iron, etc) at 50 cpu.
multuply number of resources needed to make by the above ......that is what it would cost with 100% experiment
multiply that by the exp value that can be acieved with current resources
take what I can get for exp % divide by resource exp % and multiply by above
THEN
I have a pricing scale depending on what tier people can get the certification for the weapon
novice .25
elite 2.0
unique 2.5
For example (hypothectical ie numbers pulled out of the air )
D18 pistol
4000 credits with the resources 75% resource experiment I can achieve 70% , novice weapon price mod 0.25
4000 x .75 = 3000
70/75 = .93 x 3000 = 2790
2790 x .25 = 1395
so 1395 for a D18 pistol

I like mine, nice, simple, and I guess I'd consider it 'fair' (though how one qualifies that, I don't know):Beginner-type Weapon (D18, Curved Sword etc): 3k-5k.Better Weapon (Laser Rifle, Powerhammer): 10k.Does more than 1k max damage (Commando weaponry): 15k-30k (ish)Nice and simple. If it takes longer to work out the price of the weapon than it did to *make* the weapon, well......
Yes I like math, and spreadsheets work wonders

Thank you for posting this =), i usually mine my own resources or get them cheap around 1.2-5cpu so this is actually a really nice guide to match my prices up against

My GOD! You have way too much time on your hand and are you sure you should be playing SWG and not running one of Donald Trump empire?!
Just thinking about it gives me a headach..

Only if Donald Trump wants somebody who is better at dreaming up formulas than doing math. Last I checked 1395 was 0.5 of 2790, not 0.25.
So if it truly is .25, then the D18 should sell for 697. That's far too low. Considering that even a complete noob will make more money than that doing a single sevorrt mission, I don't think this formula is worth much. Why spend time and effort making the weapon? Just run sevorrt missions, you'll come out ahead.

oops don't know how I got that, you are right it would be 697 and as I said those numbers are totally made up.
In actuality my D18 47-113 2.1 is priced at 820 unsliced
And it's not about the money, hell I can go to Dath and make 40K in a few minutes. It's a semi-rp thing for my character and I think the prices on most weapons is outrageous.
It's a novice pistol, why charge an arm and a leg for a weapon that they will use for a short time?

Why charge so little that every noob who runs through will get the bright idea of buying them all and reselling on bazaar for 6k?
Who uses D18s anyway? The only ones I ever soldwere to BH or smuggler or something who wanted a really fast pistol to spam specials.

I made a run of dh18's, dh17's and dlt20's on bloodfin just to see how well they would go, selling them at 5k each, they go pretty well. Its more of a customer service excercise, providing new characters with some decent weapons.
As for the rest of my pricing, I try and keep current with the market norm but mainly its whatever I feel the weapon is worth.

I've sold lots of novice weapons (D18's, DH17's, etc). And your post just proves my point that people are greedy to put a D18 on the bazaar for 6K!
Seriously only someone completely clueless about weapons would pay 6K for a D18. The fact you'd like to rip people off is not my concern. I provide a service.
And just a tip, if people like you are willing to charge so much for weapons.....don't gripe when smugglers want to charge 10K for slices.

Dont need to, i have shops walking distance from theed and coronet. And selling someone a 133 damage d18 compared to a 60 damage CDEF is a service in my books. Plus, they arent only just for new chars, but for existing customers that are changing combat careers.

Newbies aren't going to run all the way out to your player city or blow half their starting money on a shuttle ticket, they'll go to bazaar and buy a 100cr CDEF from the first page of the list, or spam at starport until someone gives them something. By the time they have enough money and knowledge of game mechanics to visitweaponsmith vendors, nearly all of them will have gained enough weapon exp to use something better like a scout blaster. There's no real reason to make them unless you have so much time and so many resources that you are able to keep every popular, useful weapon in stock and you don't mind wasting time/resources on newbie weapons that get thrownout or sold on bazaarafter5 minutes of killing chubas.
Also keep in mind that prices vary drastically across servers and what is considered reasonable to you may be way out of line to others. Lowca standard is 15k+ for unsliced laser rifle/carbine from the old masters with 6 month old resources, T21s are over 20k, and scout blasters sell very well at 10-12k.
