I like this idea. There are going to be so many master weaponsmiths out there that there really won't be any difference, other than their resources, in the types of guns they can make and their stats. With this, you would actually have two or three prime weaponsmiths to service you pistol needs, two or three for your rifles, etc. It would give all weaponsmiths a chance to draw customers to their vendors for your specialized weapon type. Nice idea Ralquin, hope the devsare listening.

As a master weaponsmith, I think this is a *fantastic* idea.

Best idea I've read in a long time. Perhaps the only truly great idea I've ever read from these boards.

I like this idea a lot, but it might not be implemented unless a similar system of diversification is available for other elite crafting professions.

The basis is sound - diversity through specialisation - but achieving it through qualification in a separate profession might create an advancement system too unique amongst all the other professions to be allowed.

For example, how could you do the same thing with armoursmith?

Perhaps all crafting professions should offer you a choice when you get a new skill box of choosing some sort of area to specialise in?

The other thought occurs as well, that perhaps weaponsmith should have been 2 different professions: firearms weaponsmith (with rifle, pistol, carbine and technique skill trees) and melee weaponsmith (with associated skill trees). Maybe this has been suggested before?

Very nice idea.

Since they haven't implimented experience specific to weapon types, how about getting access to new schematics when you work up a specific weapons tree?

This is a great idea. All they have to do is add experimentation points sprinkled throughout the weapon use skill trees. Just enough to make a difference.

I agree that a Master Weaponsmith who is also a Master Pikeman will probably make more effective Pikes.

And seeing a diversification amongst the smiths on a server is a good thing. Right now they're basically all the same.
