Logix,

If the smuggler wants to "make" a great sliced weapon, I suppose he will try to get his hands on the best weapons. Therefore making the best weapons better, thus enabling him to make a greater profit. So if he is going to buy your weapons, that is a greeat compliment, probably due to your "notoriety and loyalty". So you should be proud if they choose your weapons.

Proud? The result is I have a ton of mad customers and having to work feverishly to restock my vendor...that should make me proud?

Also, I think you have failed to see that this smuggler is a customer too. To say so would be racist, since saying that customers who buy a few weapons are good, but anyone who buys a lot is bad.

Yes, because it is not respectful of the needs of 1) the weaponsmith and 2) OTHER customers. They have just as much right to come and buy from my vendor as you do. Why should you be allowed to deny them that? And HOW can that be racist? Do you even know what that word means? A smuggle like any other customer in the game is treated based upon how he acts....that is the complete opposite of racism.

That is just plain silly. (Yes, I know you are not a racist, just noting your statement slants that way.)

If you are truley interested in "notoriety and loyalty", treatALL of your customers with the respect they deserve, including smugglers

He is treating each with the "respect they deserve".(explained in the next section)

Why not practice your customer service skills and contact the smuggler directly and explain to him/her that you would be more than happy to provide your services to them, but since it is not good business for you to have an empty vendor, that you would like if they contacted you with the weapons (and ammount of them) that they wished to purchase, and that you woill gladly make these custom orders for them, maybe even offering a dsicount fortheir bulk orders. In this way creating a better environmnet for you, the smuggler, and your customers. Then everyone is happy, and you have taken a proactive approach, instead of blaming someone for a situation quickly and easily resolved.

Why do smugglers deserve special treatment? Why can't a smuggler contact me? After all I don't know if you are going to buy my vendor out or not. So should we email every smuggler we see? or ask ever customer if they are a smuggler? I don't think so. Maybe the smuggler could actually be curtious to the weaponsmith they "respect" and order bulk.

Money does matter. You cannot do anything without it. You and I may not like it, but please don't be silly. If you don't have credits, your not going to get anything done. If credits don't matter then make tons of weapons and offer them all for 1 credit. Yeah, I know, not going to happen.

Yes, it does matter some, but it is not the major motivation of a good weaponsmith. And banning smugglers have nothing to do with greed but have everything to do with curtesy and us trying to take care of the rest of your customers.

If you sell out of weapons, make more.

We do. But this is a game and we want to enjoy ourselves and not have to work 8 hours a day feverishly cranking out weapons just to barely meet demand.

Oh, and just to clear anything up I haven't had to ban anyone form my vendors yet (knock on...fake wood).I would send anyone who is "buying my vendor out" an email "talking" with him/her about it before I took any action against the individual. In my experience simply talking with people will solve most problems. But I do feel it is within the rights of the smith to ban some one for doing that.

Greets ...

2 suggestions.

A) Stock more weapons :-)

B) When they buy you out, follow up with an email and nicely ask them to *pre-order* from you in the future.

I have done both of these and it works very well ... the smuggler doesn't get banned from your shop, they get the weapons they need to make their profit, you get more weapons into more players hands which lends to your name being out there more.

But ... this is really a *smuggler* forum issue starting a thread about *manners* and how it's rude to buy 20+ weapons and depelete a vendors stock.

If weapons are moving off your vendor too fast, raise your prices. It's an easy fix.

There are too many weaponsmiths in this game and thus due to supply and demand prices are low. When I need a weapon for my combat alt, I buy (I have no Ostrine) 10 of the best non-Krayt Weapon_001 on the server and have them sliced. If I don't get a 30% damage slice in that set, I go buy another 10. I can make the cash to buy these 10 weapons in less than an hour. The best weapon which results will last me over a month of hard play. If the price of weapons increased by 2x on my server, I'd still do the same thing.

This is all caused by supply and demand. Think about it, if people didn't need to buy so many weapons to get a good slice, what would happen to the demand? It would drop 5 to 10 fold I bet. What do you think happens to the price when the demand drops? If they implement directed changes to slicing, I predict that we will be selling weapons for architect credit/resource ratios and it will be more effective to resell your resources than to put them into weapons.

Heh this thread got turned from me complaining about slicing to being told to go make more weapons, and stop complaining i'm making money? ROFL!!!

My basic arguement was my workload is increased substantially due to Slicing being 100% random... A few people hit it on the nose. I like keeping everything stocked at a given time, so when a customer walks in, i have exactly the type of weapon they want in stock. Makes for a happy customer. But when that one person buys 10, 20, even 30 weapons at a time to go take to a smuggler, that impacts both my customers wasting thier time coming to get something that isnt there, wastes my time cause i have to sit there and crank out another run of the weapon, and wastes even MORE time from all the tells i get asking when am i going to have such and such weapon.

Did i mention, i dont run my weaponstore by itself. My PA has 2 Master Weaponsmiths currently. And we both run the same shop, share our resources 100%, heck even let each other stock each others vendors. (i would KILL for allowing people to be admin on vendors, but thats another bish and moan session) Currently there's 2 of us, slaving over the grindstone, pumping out weapons like they're going out of style. And we still cant keep up with demand. I wont joke you, we raised our prices, hell we're getting 75k for a t-21 with a stock on it and people are buying those by the dozen... Hell i have half the major PITA rebel guilds banned from the shop for littering my front lawn with corpses, still doesnt help lol...

I've had signs, i've had the vendors barking if you want multiple weapons of the same quality for the best slice, contact me with how many you want... Doesnt happen. For instance, i ran out of C12 grenades on the vendor yesterday. Someone sent me a tell asking if i had any, and i did have a few crates in storage still. Broke them down to crates of 5 stacks of 5. threw them on the vendor thinking ok, 7500 credits for 25 grenades total, bit expensive, should keepsome on the vendor... put up40 crates like that. Well, the person who sent me thetell was replied to, i told him i had some and they would be on the vendor shortly.About an hour later, he comes to the shop, buys me out, and once again, i'm out of grenades... I just cant win And reason iusually put my grenades on the vendorin crates of 5 is simple. Ican break a crate of grenade powerups in half, and theycan buy a crate of 5 stacks of nades, and 5 powerups and boom, they're in business. (Stupid that grenades come in crates of 25, but their powerups come in crates of 10 isn't it? LOL)

Like others have said, raise your prices then you don't have to work as hard to keep your vendor stocked.

In conclusion 2 things need to be put into place, 1) the quality of the smuggler supplies NEEDS to be included into the slice 2) Thier skill needs to be incorperated as far as max caps per level of slicing.

You realize if this happens, the price someone pays to have a weapon sliced will go up dramatically. Players will only want the highest quality slices, thus the best tools, thus the best resources, etc.

Stone as a Master Smugger i agree with you fully, the effectivness should count. I unlike my some of my brothers like to only use the best supplies around for my tools. And they are fully experimented on before going into production. If your complaining that you are selling out of weapons everyday, im sorry. You could also find a smuggler and set up a Sliced weapon vendor. That way some of your weapons already have the slice on them and would prevent others from buying you out. Also as a smuggler I get the guys that have just bought 20 guns and come running up to me wanting all damage slices or speed slices. So cast not the first stone unless ye be judged first.

And we want the experimented effectiviness as much as you do

Money doesn't matter once you have hit a certain point. You have not hit that point and thus, you don't understand our predicament. I repair any gun for free, because a 2k tip just doesn't matter. A 10k tip doesn't matter. A 100k tip doesn't matter. I don't bat an eye unless I'm buying something worth at least 10 million.

Smugglers don't look for the best weapons, most of the time, they look for the cheapest. Why? As was stated, slicing is random. Why in the world are you going to shell out an extra 5k for an unsliced gun only two points above the rest? Not worth it, obviously. Also, Smuggler is a profession -- not a race.To be prejudice,it would require an ignorant bias against the Smugglerhimself, not what he chooses to do. I don't prefer Smugglers buying out my stock, but that doesn't meanIimmediately ban every innocent Smuggler before he setsfoot in my store. Butre-sellers do affect my shop: they take away notoriety from my business and potential sales. Players will come to his shop and buy my guns instead of coming to my less-than-fully-stocked shop that has beenransacked by Smugglers.

I sell only sliced weapons and I have never had problems with Smugglers buying out my stock since. I don't randomly ban Smugglers and when I used to sell unsliced weaponry, I did ask them politely to restrict their bulk purchasing. However, this argument is not "I should feel free to ban with no warning"; this argument is "This is why Smugglers are not preferable customers to most Weaponsmiths." Even though I no longer suffer the frustration expressed in this discussion, I still understand the concepts behind the argument.

Lastly, there is one small part of loyalty that goes beyond customers: that of your community. I am set for life on sales, money and notoriety, but loyalty still remains and that includes my fellow Weaponsmiths. I will not be one to betray them in their times of economic hardship by waging a drastic price-war. I could slash prices and run out every smith on the planet, but ruining the businesses of others is a selfish, unnecessary course of action.

this post is so incredibly stupid. Let's say you go to best buy..and there's a game there.. people buy this game out everytime..so best buy's first instinct is oh my god we're selling out too fast and making too much money..let's get the names of the ones doing all the buying and ban them from our stores for good! I'm pretty sure you can see how stupid this sounds. If you don't need money. stop being a weaponsmith. There really is no point to it if profit doesn't matter. Also like many others have pointed out. raise your prices if your vendors are emptying too quickly. Finally if you don't like customers who buy in bulk.. then send them to another weaponsmith if you despise their patronage so much. It's not our fault as customers that smugglers can neither control how their slices go or gauge through quality of ingredients how good their slices are. When I was a commando I bought 6 flamethrowers and only ONE was sliced for speed...and of course it wore out fast putting me in the predicament of needing more weapons..not my fault..not the smugglers fault.. so if a weaponsmith wants to take it out on me because of circumstances out of my control.. then that smith is just an A-hole plain and simple.

P.S custom order my behind. every master weaponsmith I contact on starsider either doesn't respond to direct tells or emails or will tell you plainly they don't take orders over this medium. I miss the good guys like Booth....

This analogy makes no sense because Best Buy doesn't have problems with a few people buying 20+ items each, leaving none for the 50+ others who just want one item.

Okay this is the way I see it,

First, I hate it when people scream nerf someone else. That is exactly what you are doing here. Nerf the smugglers tools? Nah, why would I, as a weaponsmith want that? Nothing they do in this hurts me, why would I want this nerfed? I don't. I really think you should think about it before you cry about it. Another person pointed out tha this is one of the few things a novice weaponsmith can make, and make money at it, the WUK.

Secondly, as many have pointed out, why are you crying about people buying your weapons? Poeple know they are taking chances with the slice. Nothing wrong with them buying more to get exactly what they want. If this is a problem to you, become a smuggler as well and slice your own weapons and sell them that way.

Arghh! This is exactly why the DEVs nerf stuff and mess thing up before taking in the big picture. Remember this, whenever they nerf someone else, it usually has a negative impact on you.

Devs clearly do not play their creations and are utter clueless as to the results of their nerfs. They seem to be in love with their ideas and ignore the results.
