Thread: Weapon Accuracy

Well, it's clear there is no damage bonus from higher weapon accuracy, but I'm not sure there should be.
In fact, I'm not sure where people got the notionthat increased weapon accuracy (as opposed tothe weapon-specific accuracy skill modifiers)means increased damage output. Theoretically speaking, if you miss less, you are doing more damage over time, but I don't think you should bedoing more damage per shot by having higher weaponaccuracy.
The true test would be to do 100+ ranged shots with a high accuracy weapon and 100+ with a low accuracy weapon while keeping all other variables(skills AND all other weapon stats)the same, and count the misses.
Couple of posts concerning accuracy and damage:
Note in this one, the formula shows that your accy vs. the targets defense is considered

If anyone is up for doing a test of wether or not higher accuracy helps toward less misses it would be awesome (for example doing 100 shots with low accuracy and 100 shots with high accuracy towards the same target with the same template).
If noone voulenters I will do so myself, but it will probably be a couple of days before I have the time to conduct this test, so it would be nice if someone else was up for it
I'll see if I can run a few tests as well. I've got a +64 accuracy weapon and I'm sure I can make a low accuracy model as well.

Sounds awesome. just make one witout scope then slap a speed powerup on it, taht should lover the accuracy well below 0
Great idea, but without time to read all the threads I will post my response. And I am sure by the time I get this posted some one will have probably replied inkind...
You need a higher sample!
6 shots with each weapon is not enough to get a true measure of accuracy. In any research, it is mostly considered invalid unless you have at least the magic number of 100 tries. Also, you are testing the accuracy of the weapons. The shooter needs to have the same accuracy for every test with only the accuracy of the weaopns changing. And finally, the weapon should idealy have all the same stats, except for accuracy.
Maybe a WS who has crafted a high accuracy weapon can craft a couple of similar weapons with different accuracy to help out here?

As damage output is allways the same under the same circumstances one shot with each difference shot should be enough.
The shooter have the same accuracy in the 2 different tests (one of the low defence and the high defence) the last test wasnt really nessesary, but I wanted to test with lowest possible defense I had available aswell. As neither defence nor acccuracy from the shooter changes in the same test it should be reliabletest results.
I know the weapons ought to have the same stats all around, but the stats that wary do not have an impact on damage output so it isnt really necessary.
For testing wether or not the hit/miss ratio is affected by scopes I agree that a large sample is needed which was why I suggested doing 100 shots with the high accuracy and 100 with the low accuracy (againt the same target under the same circumstances)
And yes +50 accuracy from attachemnts only increase my damage by 7 points lol. Most attachemnts are almost worthless really......I love having them, but I could do without them and basically do 1.1% more damage with them equipped.

Jason, please do at least one test run with a low accuracy (unscoped) gun *without* a speed PuP too. Just to eliminate a chance that pups are skewing things...

OK, just ran a test with a guildie who happened to be home sick...luckily for us, lol
2 weapons:
ALR -8 accy (speed powerup used)
ALR +54 accy
