I would say don't slice it, because like you said a bad slice will hurt you. However; if you don't slice it, the person buying it will already have visions of a 30-35% slice in their head and will probably be willing to spend the same or more then for the same poorly sliced weapon.

There are bad slices. Had a friend who is a master smuggler make a 12% slice on a piece of comp armor a couple of days ago.

I say leave your weapons unsliced when you sell them or aution them. That way the buyer can take it to a smuggler that he knows and trusts to have it sliced.

I slice everything that sells on the vendor. All slices30% and higher get a 5K markup per percent and i don't bother distinguishing between Speed and damage. because to some.. speed is more important.. to others damage is more important.. either way.. it's still a better weapon.

Generally my weapons are more expensive thanwhat sells around the area, but there are no unknowns with my stuff.. and a great many people tell me they prefer to buy the final product... not a "what if."

However, weapons with Krayt tissues or other rare loot drops are not sliced when sold. I normally make the Krayt guns on request. Most people bring me the loot and I make the stuff at the cost of a normal weapon and sell it unsliced back to the person.

Slicing before sales can get quite expensive if you don't have a bankroll behind you.. most smugglers I work with charge me a flat 2K per because I'm usually asking for them in bulk. For example 30 crates of weapons at 2K = 1.5 mil in one sitting... 750 weapons... try finding a smuggler that likes doing that every week... I have smugglers running away whenI log on! heh.

I never slice. It isn't due to a 'can i get more or might i make less if it is screwed up?' attitude. My belief is that my weapons will be the best weapons legal anywhere in the galaxy. I will let it come to the individual players to slice it if they want to. But all my weapon's stats are all me... I may lose a few sales, but I know they are using MY stuff. I guess it is sort of an ego thing.

I sell both sliced and unsliced pistols and melee weapons, and my sales seem to be evenly split between the two. In my experience, damage slices sell much better than speed slices, and I price accordingly. A damage slice of 30-33% is 3x base rate, 34% is 4x base rate and a 35% damage slice is 5x base rate.

Even though a 29% slice is nearly as good as a 30% slice, in the minds of many people a 30% slice seems to have crossed some magical line and they are usually willing to pay considerably more for it.

Unfortunately, an unsliced weapon is more valuable than a weapon that has received a poor slice, because the unsliced weapon at least holds out the promise of getting a good slice. I usually don't bother even trying to sell any slice under 25%, especially if it's a speed slice.
