I'am fairly new to this board and this may have been discussed in the past but, Im a slicer and just master melee away from master weapon smith now my question is do I slice my own guns or let my customers do it themselves. I keep hearing by players that they would rather buy an unsliced gun versus a sliced gun. Tell me what you think. Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'd sell them unsliced, and offer to slice them for cheap if they were bought from you.

You would probably sell more guns if you didn't slice them. People would have to buy several guns to take to a smuggler to get the slice that they want. And then, there are people who think that sliced weapons are usually crappy guns that are sliced to cover a defect.

Having said that, I slice all my guns. I make pretty good guns to begin with, and can now afford to trash a few badly sliced guns. I like to sell sliced guns because the buyer knows exactly what they are going to get. No more guessing games with smugglers. Sure, I could probably make more money if I just sold base guns. But I like what I do.

I sell almost entirely sliced weapons, and I have recieved many comments about howits a good way to go.It saves them the step and the extra cost of getting something sliced, and removes the randomness of it that slicing adds in. For example my friend who wanted a dx2, which I cant make, bought three of themfrom another smith so she can have them sliced to find one with the best results.

Now there is no question that some folks wont want it this way, and thats cool, I have a note on my vendor saying that a) all weapons are sliced and b) if they want an unsliced weapon just give me a tell and I will hook them up. Also note every description of my weapon also mentions its been sliced.

The bottom line is that as a gunsmith, but not a master weaponsmith its almost impossible to sell anything. Many professions have the master level mean very little, in the case of weaponsmith I think it means too much and puts everyone else in an uncompetitive position. Slicing weapons has been a small way I can generate some business. My customers like it and as a side note its generated some slicing business for me.

Good point. If you slice your weapons, try to let your customers know that you do this. Personally, I try to tag all my weapons as -sliced and put them on a vendor named "Sliced Weapons", and it's in my sig

Slicing weapons is illegal under imperial law. As a loyal imperialist I do not do it.

If you sell unsliced weapons, people frequently buy several guns at a time so they can slice them and keep the best one so you get more income. If you sell sliced guns, people won't buy the crappy ones, but you can auction the 35% slices for ten times what you'd get from a regular gun.

I don't sell sliced guns because I'm not a smuggler and it's too much trouble to make WUKs, get a smuggler to do crates of guns, then sort and price them according to the results.

either way works, i personally don't sell sliced weapons and if i do it will be a totally seperate vendor

Just make sure you let them know they are buying a sliced weapon, not much will get someone upset quicker than selling them a sliced weapon that isn't indicated that way.

I use 2 vendors for this. One named Presliced Weapons and the other named Unsliced Weapons. If the customer can't figure that out......

Do you guys find that it is better to slice your krayt weapons before an auction, given the fact that a bad slice can take a bit off the value of a weapon, or do the good slices more than make up for it?

What's your opinion?

As a Master Smuggler I have always been of the opinion that there are no "bad slices" there are good slices or great slices. I never thought that permanently increasing a weapons attack speed or damage range could be a bad thing. Granted with it being random you may not get the slice you're looking for, but either way the weapon is still faster or does more damage that it originally did.
