Yeah, I've never seen much difference in repair numbers. Although, of late, my repair rate with minor blemishes has gone way down. It's like they don't even happen anymore.

The 3 that I failed with my repair +15 mod and some BF were various:

- 32000/37000

- 17000/28000

- 23000/28000

(approximatively)

Nowi'm +38 and don't fail even if the item is 1000/38000.

Minor blemish happens rarely (not more often now than when i hadn't any repair bonus).

Still on my way to +45 (+20 FS repair and +25 repair).

I only use tools between 98 and 100 efficiency. And If I can i go near my crafting stations (WS 43.89 AS 44.60). Doesn't seem to give a bonus but if i can i prefer to be close.

The 3 failed items were near my AS 43.89 station when I hadn't the FS repair +20.

This is straight out of Thunderheart's mouth. Link here.
However, he also said that sliced weapons have a very high chance of failing during repair. So any testing that you do to test non-WS vs. WS repairs need to be done on weapons that are NOT sliced. I suspect that the "tests" alluded to earlier in this thread were done with weapons that were sliced.

I bet you would belive TH if he told you that 100% clamps gave better slices also. We all know that this is not true.

I destroyed a weapon while repairing it.

It was a looted DXR-6B Rifle that I got speed sliced and that had a power-up on it. (I was having Battle Fatigue because I was in Geo Lab).

I have to add this comment:

NEVER repair a weapon that has a powerup still on! Remove the powerup first!

If you don't remove the power up here is what happens in a short example you'll easily verify:

- weapon original stats: 4s 200-500 damage

- weapon stats with powerup on: 3s 250-625 damage

- "repaired" weapon stats that had the power up on when repaired and still has a power up on after repair: 4s 200-500 damage
- "repaired" weapon stats that had the power up on when repaired andwithout power up on after repair: 5s 150-375 damage

As you see, repairing a weapon that has a power up "on" simply hurt very bad its stats!

If you had first removed the powerup before repair you would still have:

- repaired weapon stats : 4s 200-500 damage

- repaired weapon stats with powerup on: 3s 250-625 damage

Also: be very careful when repairing looted weapons!

I don't have direct evidence, but here's some anecdotal evidence. Take it for what you will.

I would assume the repair functions to be similar for armor and weapons, and the chances of repair to be very close. I've always just rolled the dice and repaired my armor myself. I routinely destroy armor or decrease it's condition significantly. However as a master WS, I have never destroyed a weapon. In fact, I've gotten a few of those near perfect repairs (minor blemish?) otherwise they've all been slight condition reductions.

So it seems to me that if the chance for repair is similar for armor and weapons, either a WS does have a better chance, or I've been very unlucky with armor, and very lucky with weapons.

So it is repair skill SEA you need not Weapon repair ?

I had the same experience with repairing armor compared to weapons. I had very few failed weapon repairs but many failed armor repair

I repair a a weapon or armour at 30% or when armour stats change, also considering some repairs wipe about 10 off orignial max condition i always wait till at least i have used that 10k once. I only once repaired something to find the rapair max condition was lower than the weapons unrepaired actual condition.

Since when does "straight out of Thunderheart's mouth" mean anything? Not to slam the poor guy, but he's the community relations mgr. He knows about as much on this subject as we do. In fact, I highly doubt there is one single person in the development team who can honestly say exactly HOW it works. And that applies to almost every game system, I might add.

Some documentation would be nice. Why let us speculate and argue for 14 months? Why not just say "This is how this works... k?"
