Decisions decisions. Thanks for all the input. I guess I have to choose between architect and armoursmith as my second artisan profession.

You don't necessarily have to pick another elite crafting profession. You may want to spend your remaining skill points to go for smuggler (so you can slice weapons), to pick up merchant or to take up a combat profession so you can go out and shoot stuff once in awhile.
Imo, you shouldn't be in a big hurry to grind out weaponsmith anyways. You'll need great resources to make the best weapons, and it takes time to collect them. It took me close to four months to grind out weaponsmith on my own, and I spent that time building my resource collection and also working on smuggler.

Well funnily enough last night I picked up a BER 8 wind harvester for 3500 cash. I upgraded all my mining rigs aswell to BER 4, and scrapped the ones in shabby locations. On top of that someone was selling low grade iron at 5000 units for 6k on the bazaar. Looks like I've got enough resources coming in without busting a gut to grind up 30,000 xp each night. Heh heh big time here we come. I'm going to be rich, I tell you, rich!

BER 9 wind harvestors. They are cheap to buy, cheap to run, and they take minimal effort unless you park them in BFE. Ive used this method to start out on 3 different servers. It prolly wont make you a millionaire, and its not an overnight process, but it dosnt take to long b4 you start turning a profit off them.

hey Red. If you need a hand and play on Chimeara send Volta' and email, i will help you start up if you like. I have 5 BER 13's atm mining useless crap i don't mind giving you some resources. Or maybe tip a few hundred k to get you started.
Reason for this: When i first started i knew nothing, just like 99% of the players and one day i met this commando and he helped me get some cash for some chitin armour, it was 30k a full suit then i only had 6k or so. At the end of our hunts he tipped me 30k !! From then on i was chuffed and try to help as many people as i can, hoping they will appreciate it like i did when i started.
Can only offer this on Chimaera server though!

Hey thanks for all the help offers - I thought this thread had sunk a while back and stopped looking, so apologies for the lack of response.
Well, I made it to master weapon smith a week and a bit ago. Cash is rolling in now, mainly from laser rifle and laser carbine sales.
This is how I made my cash in the end:
1) Ground up to novice architect (which was relatively easy) and then made myself an equipment factory.
2) Sold lots of factory produced weapon upgrade kits, and a few max/min damage weapon powerups, although powerups didn't sell so well.
3) Got lucky and bought three BER 8-10 mining installations for 6k off the bazaar. This increased my mining potential quite a bit.
4) Sold a lot of DLT20s and scout blasters on the bazaar, and walked conspicuously round newbie areas picking up a lot of business.
5) Did some missions.
6) Found a lovely 1.5cpu grinding metal shop (which didn't help my income but did reduce my outlay).
Tried selling wind power, but the market is just glutted on my server (farstar), so the profit margin per lot just wasn't worth it.
My main problem now is the unavailability of some of the resources I need, ie irolum reactive gas doesn't seem to have spawned on farstar for nearly two months, and can't be bought for love nor money.
Anyway, glad the grind is over.
