howser
LOL, I bet
Kobya wrote:WEll I will agree that the price on these things are insane. But cripes are you guys crazy? +7 more would make your weapons much better than the avarage weapon. Lower ham, better range, max damage. Sounds good to me. Would you make your money back? bah! no not at 14mill that's insane.
Unfortunatly it doesn't work quite the way have it sound like in your post. You need +10 worth of Skill Tape or Tapes to get 1 extra Experimentation point and I think its capped at +20. So the most you will get is 2 extra Experimentation points to use.

Now the question is, how much better will his weapons be with the extra Experimentation over someone who does't have it but has equivalent resources?
There will be no major difference between a 12-point and 10-point weapon. All components and weapons can be raised to maximum damage with 10 point, so the 2 extra end up going into one of the ineffective categories. HAM might be lowered by 2, oraccuracy might be improved by 1 or 2, or durability might go up 100. None of these changes are significant enough to let you jack up prices high enough to recoup your investment in any reasonable amount of time.
Having the extra 2 experimentation points really adds up when you consider that it's an extra 2 experimentation points you get to spend on EVERY COMPONENT.
For example, for a DRX6 carbine, the weaponsmith with 2 more experimentation points will make a much better weapon than the non SEA equiped weaponsmith due to:
- Advanced Blaster Power Handlers(more durability)
- Blaster Rifle Barrel (lower HAM or better range MOD)
- Weapon Scope (better HAM and Range MOD)
- Weapon Stock (dump all experimentation into effectiveness so you can add the stock and not kill HAM)
Weaponsmiths are willing to pay a lot for these skill tapes because the ones that are smart realise how much those 2 points add up from being used on all components AND the final assembly.
Sad part is I only have one +8 tape so far
Anyone that has tapes to sell on Starsider, contact me!

Experimenting durability on handlers does nothing.
2 more points into range on a normal barrel will increase accuracy by THREE. Barrels do not have HAM costs and cannot be experimented for efficiency.
Normal scope can be experimented to 0 HAM and 10-11 range with 10 points, 12 points gives a whopping 2-3 better accuracy.
HAM-experimented stocks are utterly worthless as the speed penalty will be very large and damage bonus will be very small, and the advanced stock is bugged so you can get the same stats with any materials and number of experiment points doesn't matter.
So,your tens of millions invested into tapes will give you PLUS SIX accuracy. Whoopee. If there was anything better to use money for, no one would be paying these absurd prices for SEAs.
Hands down the best reason for these tapes is for making Krayt weapons.
But seeing how Krayt tissue is now very hard to come by most smiths will have very little practical use for these tapes.
And I'm fairly sure most of the big time smiths on each server already have their +20
With the rampant loot camping I'm sure the prices of these tapes will fall dramatically as everyone gets a set.
To answer your question:
+1 100K
+2200K
+3 500K
+4 700K
+5 1M
+6-25 add 300k per point
So for me a full 20+ points would be worth 5.5M
