Bah, nothing to worry about. Actually I think it will even increase value of the really expensive weapons. Now many are not prepared to pay outrageous prices becuase of the decay. If the weapon does not decay people will be prepared to pay more for that 800+ PH

aye and its only 1 per toon so with the added weapons etc we will be busier than ever. More than likely people will use the dacay kits on modded armour pieces that they have collected armour attachments in. far more money to save there.

all they need do is make the kits unable to be used on looted weapons..only crafted. something i assume they will do as the new devs seem to be on the ball.

I have to say that i really dont agree with this... it does make a bit of a mockery of the crafting economy - and people will certainly be able to get hold of 10 of these - simply by the cross-server trade method.

So you will have some automaton wandering round with unbreakable armour and an exceptional weapon.

I think my trade in top-end weapons would go down significantly - esp for acklay batons and powerhammers, and krayt scatters.... i get a helluva lot of repeat business in these areas....

Hmmm... and who wants a model jabba LOL

true but i want my wepaons to be decay resitant..lol

the number of decay kits to ihigh end weapons must be low. more worrying is will pups on a decay resistant weapon cause decay?

other wise all thos powerful non decay weapons will be perma pupped too! THAT is scary

Is this a concern? Possibly. Certainly worth keeping an eye on.

However, at the moment I'm not sweating it for several reasons.

1. All veteran rewards are ONE PER ACCOUNT. It's not like people are going to be trading these things across servers. You're going to be able to pick one item on one toon on one account and that item (and that item only) will not decay (supposedly, see below).

2. Allow me to quote:

JoleneArcher wrote:
I don't like the idea that people can equip their Exceptional or Legendary Stuff with them. A T21 with 2000 Max for example and no decay would be very hard.

No one likes this thought either. However, remember that some of the ridiculous loot drop weapons that are out there now aren't going to look the same after the weapon rebalance in the CURB. They should still be good, but I don't believe they will be retarded good the way many are now.

3. All we know about the "Anti-Decay Kit" is the name. We don't actually know what it does. Maybe it stops decay altogether. Maybe it simply cuts decay down to some fraction of a percent of normal. Who knows? At the moment, all we have is wild speculation based on the item's name. Until we know*precisely* what it does, I don't see any reason to lose sleep over it (though that time may come at some point).

They might, but if a player does server trades his anti-dacay kit, he will never get one again. It is also stated that it is a ACCOUNT gift, so you have to choose one of your characters on one of your servers to receive the gift. And a 1 time use item. So no impact there

Wellthe DEVstated (about 300-400 posts down, and yes I did read the whole thread ) that the Aniti-Decay kit will stop all decay. But even if it does, in the worst scenario (all players are around for 12 months), than every player has 1 anti-decay kit. Since you can only pick a particular Veteran Reward one ONCE, everyone will eventually get 1. But since the CU will change (or disable) stacking as it is now. People will be needing different weapons for different jobs, so I don't really see a problem here.

But the PuP-part is still a little unclear, but I'll bet it will be cleared up once this hits TC

I must have missed this. My apologies.

Anyways, I still am adopting a wait-and-see attitude before proclaiming that the sky is falling. =)

this happened in UO and it was devastating to the game for about 2 years. it took that long to get rid of the things and very few were actually acquired.

i am totally against indestructable weapons and armour as i have seen what they can do to the game. this reward needs to apply to clothing items only. as most people need more than one piece of clothing it wont destabilize tailors as much as it will every combat profession and weapon/armour crafting. it needs to never hit live because once done it will be very difficult to undo.

i have seen this before and it is not a good thing to happen in a MMO.

I dont like this anti decay kit. I doubt any MWS or MAS would like it. It would screw the economy bad, and I hope they re-think it.

Well I can say right now it is definately going on _MY_ Exceptional T21... It pains me that a loot is way better than something I can craft, but still I'd do it, and you guys all KNOW you'd do it to if you had an exceptional weapon.

Here's my concern (from what I can gather not being in the CU club ). Over a year ago they said that they balanced PvE for after the CU (when it was still the rebalance), so I take it PvE is not going to change to a large degree. This means that most professions will still have a general duty weapon (T21 for the riflemen, LVA for the pikemen, etc.) for PvE, and it's PvE that kills weapon condition.

If these kits can be placed on looted weapons, I suspect that we will still see reasonable sales for a while as people go out killing NS and the such trying to loot one of the weapons with much higher damage than we can craft. Most of these aren't (exceptional) either, so it's doubtful that they'll stop dropping due to total numbers. As people manage to scrape up these looted weapons and use the kits on them, they won't need to buy more crafted weapons for PvE.

For example, I've been using my rifleman for a lot of krayt hunting with my guild lately. I've been burning through T21s. On only a few trips I've already killed one from repairs and my second is at 500 max condition (yes, I do use P-ups as it saves me from being outdamaged by some guy that shows up and uses them). Once this hits I could go out and work over NS until I loot one of those T21s with around 700 dmg w/out p-up (or just buy one) and there goes my need to ever supply my rifleman with a T21 again. My jawa almost never needs replacing since I only use it for PvP, by DXR6 rarely needs replacing since I only need it for a few special mobs (and most of those are gone in under 100 shots)...

Also note that there are MANY people with alts, people with friends that don't play anymore though their characters haven't been removed yet, etc. People will get more than one of these. Especially since some people will be offering so many million for these that casual players will sell them.

As a side note, imagine if these were around when they screwed up and had the acklay dropping those insane bones. Every one of those "black lightsabers" would still be around, and SOE wouldn't have had the option of just saying, "Oops, well, we fixed the drop and those will decay in time..."

This post is brought to you by the letter G

I'm a forum poster that used to craft weapons, but now has nothing to craft...so I post about it. Give me a role to play and I'll be a player that posts again.
