Thread: how were you inspired to go weaponsmith

On my other character, I was leader of a guild. We recruited a number of new players fresh from the tutorial. It was getting pretty expensive to buy weapons for all of them. At which time my brother grew bored with the game. So I kidnapped his character and grinded up weaponsmith. Took me a few weeks to get all the good resources together, but I finally got to making respectable weapons. Soon after the guild disbanded. And I got to looking at one my cash flow, and two all the resources I had. I realised I could sell off all of those resources and make a pretty penny. Or I could start making weapons and selling them. So now, not only do I sell weapons, but also help equip nearly all the new players on Corbantis. At least when my prices compare to other smith's on the server, I am often the weaponsmith shop of choice.

Why? Simple, have you seen what some people are selling and for what price? I only trust myself to make my own weapons and I do not like the price gouging. I have seen 2 handed cleavers and curved swords going for 25k on some vendors. I think I charge 1-2k for them and that still is a big markup concidering the cost of mining resources. In short, I became a WS so that I could help EVERY player have a good time and enjoy the game.

Was quite easy for me.. Started my life back in 97 as a Smith in Ultima Online and was happy with crafting weapons (and armours etc.). Gave up for DAoC but started crafting weapons there, too, although the crafting system was very poor. Switched to Neocron and started crafting... weapons 
I never thought of something else when starting my first character in this game and stayed weaponsmith since day one (11 after servers came up).

Why? Because it looked great fun and because some of my best friends are WS

Roi [great ws] quit bein a ws on my server, couldn't find good weapons anywhere. so i became a ws 
now i can find em in my inv hehe, and since the solo group nerf came it's a great way to make quick money, 400k for a nice scythe puts a nice dent in my debts

I did weaponsmith as my third holo ... did chef as my fourth and finished doing holo's because I started liking weaponsmith too much and stuck with it.

I did weaponsmith cause I'm a greedy pig and wanted more cash flow....pffft hehe j/k 
I had a hard time finding what I was looking for when I needed it without sending emails to every weaponsmith on the server only to get a reply from 1 or 2 of them a week later saying that they would make it but would be special order and would charge me XX for it.. Then I came into posession of 30+ krayt tissues when my old guild disbanded and I took them to a weaponsmith and wanted some laser rifles and carbines made up with them, now it could have been the truth,or I could have gotten shafted, but he said he crit failed on 3 of the guns and I didn't like not knowing if I was getting the truth.. So I started an alt and made her ws / doc to support my main.. that way if a crit fail happens, only one to blame is myself, but at least I know..

a few good weaposnsmiths inspired me too however
hmmm mainly for variety and to play a crafting proffesion. I have been a resource whore so I had most of the stuff I needed for it for sometime to come.

The reason for starting WS was so I could provide my friends and myselfthe bestweapons possible using the components which we looted.
Another reason was having problems finding some decent weapons and not paying high prices just because a questionable "famous" name was on the mediocre quality weapon.
