Am I mistaken in saying that a few months back that they were throwing around/advertizing an update that would allow better customization to weapons, like changing the color of the laser? More options = Better imho

Scopes, stocks, barrels and the like are not being removed as components. Only the customized visual appearance that some of these components provided will be disabled for CU. This will also affect previously customized weapons/components.

What?!This can't be a balance issue, so please don't nerf the graphics. I don't understand.. There can be no real reasoning behind this.

Lol they are even finding ways to nerf the crafting professions in the CU.

You know how much this sucks. I mean come on, I know I mass produce alot ofcrap and sell most of it that way, but you know how cool and elite carbine with stock and scope looks.

This will be another bane to the weaponsmith profession.

You'll forgive me, but changing weapon graphics doesn't seem like a "nerf". So the weapon doesn't LOOK the same as it used to. It functions the same.

By definition a "nerf" is taking away something that was there no? So it is a nerf, even if the definition of what is a nerf is somewhat subjective, I would regard this as a nerf. It is not very much a game altering nerf yet still a nerf. This scope/stock/barrel thing may not garner much interest to many people because of the mass production factor and the amount of weapons that are needed in game, but you will have to admit some of the scoped/stocked/barreled weapons looked so much cooler. (aka elite carbine with scope and stock or silver edition Metal DL44's with silver barrels and silver scopes)

I am not a CU pessimist and probably will never be because I think it is fixing the game and adding so much potential. I am simply stating the fact that they are finding a way to pretty much nerf every profession .

Along the same lines of my definition of nerf, I would consider splitting the damage line into speed and damage a nerf also. However this provides more variety in the game if people actually do need one more than the other which is what the testing is for to ensure that this happens. All in all most master combat professions imo will still want damage versus speed thus making this change an odd one, unless I misinterpretted something I read about the CU and/or did not get the gist of the speed changes to professions and their weapons.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

On another note. I love how they keep saying "X" is not in the scope of the CU. Okay obviously there is some stuff that doesn't directly lie in the path of the CU. Fixing certain things in weaponsmith as a whole is not in the CU yet it needs to be done, along with a bunch of other crafting profession fixes. Armorsmith is being pretty much overhauled stats-wise and with a whole new step in armor making. Chef was revamped and hopefully the foods they have now are vamped for the CU. All in all I am just hoping that the little iodsyncracy that make certain crafting professions great like compiling a cool looking weapon are not overlooked until some inane update a year or two from now.

For me this isnt an issue, so what if all weapons look the same.It wouldve been a different issue altogether if each type of stock or barrel etc actuallyimproved different types of stats but they dont. Ultimately, the person using that particular weapon isnt using it because they like the look of it, they are using it purely because of its stats and nothing else.

I think its time to stop throwing the toys out of the pram on this non-issue.

Meh.. and here I was looking forward to the possibility that the T-21, Laser Rifle and DLT20 models would all have at least a visible stock on the weapon regardless if it was crafted with one or not. The real shame part is the T21 and DLT20/19 are iconic weapons from the Star Wars movies to which what we have is the gangsta-style rifles that fit inside your trench coat and are horrible at close range.

Honestly it puzzles me as to why a generic graphic change cannot be made to each of these weapons and even possibly some carbines for looks sake until the customizations are fixed. Assuming that the all graphics in SW:G work like manyimages found in other games, they are designed as a flat picture. When theimage is applied to the frame of the model it wraps around the object giving its final look. We see this done on countless games where weapon, clothing, armor, etc. are changed to give a different appearance. Eh.. whether it's to complex to resolve or the developers are just feeding us a copped out excuse it's still a big disappointment that every time I use one of these weapons I get the feeling that I'm a street thug and not a solider.

It's all about the looks. As a player who walks around in ST armor it's hard to look the role of a light squad support weapon specialist when the closest thing we have is a gigantic hand cannon which is dubbed a T-21. The same goes for the DLT20/a along with the Laser Rifle as both look like they might as well be sawed-off versions of the original. (given that the LR isn't shown in the movies)

Until? You know as well as I do these aren't ever coming back. At least not any time soon. lol. They couldn't be bothered to fix them back when they were ignoring the game and using our subscription money to fund work on JTL(cheap shot, but true), and now they got rid of them for good. This is wack. I would be content to wait, but some weapons look really stupid without their proper accessories, the Power5 sans barrel and EE3 sans scope and stock coming instantly to mind.

Why don't they just change the generic graphic to always include certain items as visible? The DXR6b comes with a hard wired scope and stock, whether the smith uses them or not. The Boba Fett EE3 takes a Type 3 scope and a stock. It can't be that hard to change the generic graphic as a substitute "until"(snicker) they fix the problem.

Or is the art department too busy trying to find ways of changing the spaceships' appearence and calling them "new" ships? lol.

This is the first i saw this thread and Ihave tosay this really is disappointing. Seems like the devs just taking the easy way out. sure they might get around to fixing it in the future. So many things have been broken in this game since day 0 and now when they have the chance, instead of fixing all those little bugs and annoyances they just drop them from the game.

What will happen to clothing and armor attachments? Many of them have been broken since the beginning? The devs have yet to say what will happen with them. WillCA'sand AAssuddenly be "Outside of the scope of the CU"?

I'm very concerned about the end result of this combat downgrade. I'm trying to maintain a positive outlook but i fear that there will be little to keep me here after it's all said and done.
