I think u might be mistaken- 15/15pistol barrels.. no offense or anything, but isnt tarquinas hit with some low spawns? gonna make some t21s, so i guess i should use the advance stuff on them.. alas, time to hunt for duranium steel.

I'm using advanced barrels on most rifles especially T21's for range mods because you can't put a scope on them. The extra speed is not an issue on T21's due to the speed cap so there is no reason not to use Adv Barrels on them.
Standard Barrels are more suitable on Carbines are there is no speed cap (my understanding, i'm no expert on combat classes) and you can use a scope to componsate for the range mods.
IMHO Range mods are very important and can make a difference between a ok weaponsmith and a good weaponsmith its one of the reasons we strive to become a 12pter instead of 10pter

I provide 3 versions of most guns...
Cheapo speed version (normalbarrel)
Full advanced version (adv barrel)
Stocked (adv barrel)
There are only 2 classes of guns that sell better with standard barrel:
Carbines
Heavies (LLC, Flamer)
.. because in SWG speed means nothing... since you can cap in speed (how stupid is that... )
Making a speed T21 is useless.. only people that will use them are non-masters that grind - and it's better to grind with a cheap laser instead. I might sell 1 speed T21 when I sell 200 Stocked Full Advanced.
The range is also a lot better on advanced barrel.
0.1 speed diff means nothing (unless a Flamer or something). Most people would choose dmg and range since there is a cap.

Rifle barrel:
Advanced on Rifles
Standard on Carbines and Flamers/LLC's
Pistol barrel:
Advanced on the higher certificationguns (ex. Republic blasters)
Regular on the lower ones (ex. Scout blasters)
Well that's howI do it atleast.

I agree 100%
I do make some carbines with the advanced stocks/barrels for PvP uses, and normally people that are using these are speed capped anyway.
