hi! i recently mastered ws (3 days ago) and gathered up all te resources that i could. however, adv rifle barrel resources are elusive, so i decided to make do w.o, i created my first batch of carbines (315 dmg laser stocked, 235 ee3 stocked,222 dh17 stocked, 215 dxr stocked), and batches of rifles(444 laser stocked, 224 dmg ion), and i was quite surprised. these are not bad stats for regular barrels. however, to this day i havent yet used a single adv barrel so my question is: are they really worth it? thank you.

Advance barrels aint worth it in my opinion, atleast not on eclipse.
my basic barrels gets 9-9 stats, and the advance 11-11 stats.
However.. the basic barrels makes the weapon faster!
all weapons made by my basic barrels are 0.1 - 0.2 faster then the other..
so i never use any advance rifle barrels, I rather make a faster weapon then
get the 2 extra damage points

Rhodium Steel is the problem. It's conductivity is gated way too low in my opinion. There are some benefits to the advanced barrel. You'll get marginally better damage but you should also look at other aspects of the component such as range mods and wound %. They appear to be better with the advanced barrel.
High end fighters get mods so the weapons speed becomes less important than the weapons overall damage. Keep that in mind when you're making some of the high end gear like T21's.

Range mods are better on the advanced stuff as is the wound chance. Like the previous poster noted most rifflemen will try to get the +7 speed tapes necessary to cap them at 1.0 so the mods may yet be necessary and speed won't really be a problem.
Shrug, stick with regular barrels, if someone demands advanced ones, then make a special batch I guess.
Edit: Always use regular barrels on carbines. Carbineers get the shaft speed wise and need about+25 to weapon speed to cap them at 1.0, so unless they dabble in BH, they will view speed over damage.

Well, if you really need that 2 extra damage at a cost of .1 seconds in speed, go for it.
IMO, that .1 speed decrease FAR outweighs 2 extra damage DPS-wise.
The caps on the advanced barrel resources are WAY too low.

If you are having resource troubles, then there is no shame in using regular barrels. If you got the resources, i say go with advanced. In trade for that minimal speed reduction only, your losing 2 damage, 12 to 14 range, and 4 to 6 pts wound. Regular barrels are generally a bit more costly to make for most, as the cost of duranium steelis pretty low compared to the super high cond copper that most would use, unless in the rare case duranium hasnt spawned for 6 months and super high cond copper spawns every month.

I was a firm believer in normal blaster barrels until very recently. Then, I started to consider Ideal Range Mod.
My regular barrels have an IRM of 6, and my advanced barrels 20. They could be higher, but I max damage first and then use the rest of the points on range modifiers.
The point is, 2 damage and .1 speed are almost irrelevant if you can bump the IRM up by 14 or 15. If you're using advanced stocks, then the speed issue becomes even less relevant.
I still use regular barrels on many items - with them, I can make carbines .4 or even .5 faster than the competition - but there's a place for advanced barrels, even with the mediocre resources.

Advanced rifle barrels on Tarq are 15 min/max so it's worth it.
15?? You sure? Best I can get is 12 (and I get that only with the 1000sr duralloy). My adv pistol barrels are 15/15.

do you guys only do this for ABRB or does this thred also apply to ABPB seeing as they use very similar resources, so in essence is it worth it to use ABPS over BPB or not?
