I've got some +12 Politum Cake (<--spelling) and it seems that I cant get a great or amazing success without it. Just another added expense to the crafting process i suppose

LOL. Never though of it that way, but that is funny. I never have been able to figure out the stuff. Sometimes it does only seem to work on the next experiment. But if you drink it before you open your crafting tool, it seems to work longer. But who really knows. I usually go 2, 2 then take a swig and go from there. The closer I am to maxing the bar, the more likely I'll just do them one at a time. I recently used it making a T21 with the form fitted stock and got two amazing successes in a row. I bought a crate for a high price (50k), but I'll get a couple hundred uses out of it. And if it prevents a moderate success ona limited use schematic like a scythe, it will be a good investment. But I also make sure there are no potential problems. No battle fatigue. No headgear. Sitting down. In a research center. Crafters cake and Bespin port. Brand new 15.oo tools with a 42+ crafting station. That's all I can do.

Whoa, whoa, whoa! Battle fatigue, wearing a hat, and postureaffect crafting?

No, no - these are urban myths. I'm sure the poster was just attempting to be humorous.

Imagine the algorithms necessary to calculate crafting results with parameters like that -- in this game?

No, its true. I lie down for my first experiment, then kneel, then face north, spin around two times and bake a fruit cake. This gets me all amazing results =p

Well, only semi humorous. I don't know about the headgear and sitting down. It worked for me once, so it probablt falls in the realm of superstition. But I still think I didn't do as well one day when I didn't take my composite helmet off. But who knows.

But I will stand by the battle fatigue comment. If I am carrying 75+ points of BF, I always get worse results. More crit fails and definitely more moderate successes. Maybe again it was just a coincidence, but I don't know. Either way, if I am putting together a scythe or an enhanced weapon, I will take no chances.

I get most of my best successes on crafting experiments when I close my eyes tightly shut, hold my breath, and silently pray to whatever deity I happen to be thinking of at the time. Honest. And on those rare occasions I get a moderate success while doing this, I just switch deities. Freedom of religion is a truly wonderful thing.

I get my best results with lots of wounds, but no BF. It's probably just coincidence, but all my best weapons were crafted with high wounds.
