Well if you're a vet you should remember that there was a time when steel at 650 cd was uber.
i know that, but a 650 CD Steel cant have the same result like 1000 CD Steel ....

You know... your comments would hold a little more water if we knew that it was a bug.
But you see.... we don't.
Now your response I can respect. You're right we don't know if it's a bug or not... but seems to me a lot of folks are approaching it like it's NOT a bug already. If it's a stealth nerf... hey by ALL means get upset I know I will be. But till then, till we KNOW... I tend to think the benefit of the doubt is in order. Meh.
And for your comments about "Weaponsmiths not being the only people in the game" yeah your damn right, go take a peek on some of the other forums to see how happy they all are.
Absolutely. Only reason I mentioned that is to illustrate that WS clearly are not the only ones having problems... hence why we may not get a immediate response to all of ours.
Tiggs is in the firing line constantly - its unfortunate but its also her job. I don't blame Tiggs for any of the issues in this game - the real problems are with the people who make the decisions not with the people who have to communicate them but I don't see Smed posting here.
Again... absolutely. I think Tiggs does a great job with what she is given to work with, and who (i.e. US) she has to work with.
I have tried to give SOE the benifit of the doubt for a long time... but lately I must admit I tend to think the worst with pretty much every new patch that comes out.
Things like this just really peeve me off.... I work in IT and I struggle to think what my managers or clients would think if after 5 days of a major problem with something I looked after and I didn't even know if it was a bug or not.

Well, that is not the point.
Pre-pub 24, a steel slot used the caps for generic steel meaning that CD 1000was exactly the same as CD 650 (except thatusing anabove-cap resourcemight, I am not completely sure on this, compensate for using a below CD cap resource in another slot) since the resource was gated at 650.
Post-pub 24, the generic steel has higher caps, not because of the introduction of mustafarian resources, but possibly related to that introduction.
The point then, is that altering the caps switch resources around - so that the previous cd650 oq 1000 duralloy steel that was capped and very expensive, is now inferior to cd800 oq900 jtl-steel.
To elaborate, this is really not a discussion of whether it makes more sense that the aforementioned jtl-steel should or should not be better than the duralloy steel I mentioned, but that
(a) It switches your resources around, so the stuff you just sold of as junk (well, not junk, but not the best either) is now the best.
(b) It sets the bar higher for what resources are needed to produce the same quality of weapons. Sure, it might not affect you if your galaxy has had a very good spawn of jtl-steeland iron, but for the rest of us it does.

It's NOT a bad thing to think the worst. Thinking this is a stealth nerf rather then a bug. But when you constantly do this you will just loose the joy this game offers you because you will think about this stuff way to often. I tend to think it's just a bug. Yes the response is late. But i like to believe tiggs and maybe some other devsdo forum searches check the specific forums each or every other day for bugs etc especially after a patch. Now soe is a big company even the gaming department is big. They have to go through the administrative system before they can release information publicly etc. It takes time and the suits don't want bugs etc to be there because that's some negative publicity attached to it.
In short some people think the worse. Some think bad. Some look at the bright side and in this case give the devs the benifit of the doubt.

the point is i tested it this morning and yesterday ....
in the slots i need Duralloy Steel the CD cap is still 700, my best CD/OQ Duralloy Steel has still a full green bar....
in the slots i need Steel and i use my best Duralloy the bar is 75% green ....
but if i use JTL-Steel with 900 CD/~900 OQ the bar is 100% green....
and this is exact the point, why should Steel, with 700 cd which has a quality of 70%, have the same abilities like Steel with 900 cd (90%)
everybody can make 100% weapons only if they use the best stuff....
you cant make 100% Stuff without 100% Resources, with 70% Resources your stuff is only 70%...
Yes, if the schematic calls specifically for duralloy steel. What I am trying to say is that they changed the waygeneric steel works, not named steel.
And that is a change, regardless of how you look at it- we can argue whether we think1000 cd steel should or not be better than 700 cd steel, the way I see it, the point is that it is different now from what it was a week ago. And that every single weapon that requires generic steel will be worse now than it was possible to make it before..

I dont think so ... i use Steel with 955 cd which is 30% better then your Duralloy Steel...
why do u think u can get a 100% resultwith 70% of possible Quality.
I said this since CU hits live.... my oppinion was to get 100% results with 100% stuff only,
thats the Way to make a distinction between Veterans and new crafter.
a Apprentice cant be better ashis master or at the same Level.....
Nope use Steel with a better CD and your Weapon will be good as before....
Use JTL- or the new Mustafar Steel and your Weapon is top....
@ TIGGS I love this changes and i hope they dont change it back to pre-Pub 24 !!!!
but it's not tyhis way in all galaxies...
but what about your iron ? :-)

QFE Which was different from the crafting system 6 months ago, which was different from the crafting system 2 weeks prior to that. I don't really care whether this is a bug or intentional, but it gets frustrating when you prepare for one system, just to have the rules changed mid-stream.

i read this thread yesterday and tried to experiment a bit...
i made today a Intimidator Pistol and used Kammris Iron with 996 OQ and 472 CD and the bar was 95% green...
i didnt see any changes because Iron is capped at 500 cd ...
