How can people be selling Scout blasters and other low level guns on the bazaar for 150 creds? They are losing money by far.

Also, it kills the mrket for other WS.

They can do what they like.

If they expect to be able to sell all their guns that way then they will make no money, won't be able to buy the good resources and then won't be able to make any good weapons and then won't sell any.

If they want to give away a handful of cheapo weapons then they are clever, get your name out there. The newbie that steps into the game will buy your gun, remember your name and come to you for something expensive...its called marketing.

I've seen a couple people do that when they are also working up the smuggler tree so that they can slice their own weapons. They slice for xp then sell them off on the baz to recoup some of the money they lost. I don't think it's with the intention of undercutting anyone. Most often they use grinding materials so the stats are horrendous.

you might want to check that stats on it. I put one on the bazaar the other day that I looted. The stats were slightly better than a cdef pistol.

I'm expert weaponsmith and sell 60-135 scout blasters on bazaar for 2.5k. You may see some cheaper one's but they're gonna be junk. I only sell on bazaar because I don't have the points for merchant. Shoot I don't even have the points for anything.

I thought I was on the architect forums there for a second. Anyway...

The price of weapons are inflated, when a gun that decays and goes away sells for 100k with no problem, but people yell bloody murder about paying 10k for a house.

1 small house 3k resources, sells for 6k if you are lucky. That is 2 cpu.

1 scout blaster 111 resources.. or there abouts, sells for 2.5k. That is 22 cpu.

Be thankful that your weapons decay, and have to be replaced.

But to answer your question, it is done because of the free market. People are seeing what profits are being raked in by weaponsmiths. Because of this, you have more people becoming weaponsmiths for that same piece of pie.

It amounts to this...

Increased supplier(weaponsmiths) = increased supply(guns)

Higher supply with same demand = lower prices.

If a new master comes to town, and wants to get a cut of sales from someone else, how do they do it...

If Weaponsmith A has: Super Shooter X

and Weaponsmith B has: Super Shooter X

Which one do you buy? The one that is cheaper.

It is a free market, and other people want a bite. Get ready because this will continue as long as the profits go like this...

Weaponsmith 140 resources can net 100k = 714 cpu

Tailor 100 resources can net 8k = 80 cpu

Architect 22k resources can net 50k = 2.2 cpu

When say, a pile of 50k resources can gain you 700 times profit makeing guns as apposed to making houses, you are going to slowly swell your weaponsmith ranks till these prices come way down. Like it or not, that is the reality of it. Although I do think it never will get too bad, and a good profit will still be made(the highest of all the professions), for a long time to come.

Well, Architects need quantity, not quality. You could theoretically stay on one planet and do all your harvesting. Granted, ore is a pain in the ass to get, but try finding good rhodium steel or Doonium iron..and when you do, find a spot that isn't mined to death by 50 other harvesters...it's alot harder than just "getting 114 resources" or whatever the number was..That's why there are so many masters, but fewer well known weaponsmiths..the ones who actually use quality win out in the end..hopefully with the new monthly patch, architects will have to look for quality resources too, then they can up prices for their quality..I mean, crafting stations sell for ungodly amounts if you get the functionality ratings high enough...and they take what? 500 resources to make? saw one go for like 50k or something for 50 functionality

Friends,

Personally I had a bunch of weapons that I just grinded out for XP. I put them on the Bazaar for very low prices, 500 Credits if I remember correctly. Some got purchased, some didn't. I didn't care in either case. they weren't master quality, but some people can't afford that much all of the time, or even some of the time.

Many people do this to get UXP...working the grind up the weaponsmith tree can be tedious, and taking a loss to get some XP might be inviting to some.

When I hit master I put about twenty five (25) scout blasters that where 40-120 2.0 or so on the market for 1k each. Most of them sold over night, a couple people got smart and bought all that I put out there. I did this as a marketing scheme. And it did work. I now have about 50-100 regular customers who purchase from me regularly and I get by.

I don't bother flooding markets or anything anymore. If I have the best materials I make a gun or two, otherwise I just go out hunting. I always sell my failures on my scrap vendor for 1/20 the price to make, cause ya never know someone might grab it, but they rarely sell so mostly they end up getting destroyed.

Well actually they don't really have to be losing money. Resources cost about $0.30/unit to harvest, the scout takes 111 resources, so that means it costs $33 to make. Add $20 for bazaar listing, and you still have a 300% markup.

Now there are lots of other things we spend money on, houses, vendors, factories, etc. but none of these are required. In fact, you can get your resources for free by hand sampling (if you are insane), which means your cost is only the $20 listing fee, or $16 if you are a merchant.

If there was a huge demand for scouts, then prices would probably be in the $60 range. However there isn't anything close to a huge demand, so prices are higher. I've recently been playing with prices to see how elastic the price elastic the demand is, but I haven't really gotten clear results.

As far as "killing the market" you have it backwards. Economists would say they are strenthening the market by weeding out the weaker suppliers. After all if you can't afford (or don't want) to compete then you lose. If anyone ever told you that being a crafter was a guaranteed source of income, they lied. It's not a game if you can't lose

Those weapons usually fall into 3 cateogories: 1) dropped item, lousy stats; 2) made by low level smith, crap stats, hoping to recoup some grinding costs; and 3) nice master work weapon with great stats that a player is getting rid of because it is at ZERO or close in durability. This scam gets many a n00b. Skilled player sells laser carb for 500 credits, 35/920 durability.

Go read the architect boards.

At least you were only undercut with items that take 150 materials to make. Try selling something that takes 25k resources and a day or three to get the resources to make and being undercut with that.

Just for arguments sake, assume that undercutting costs you the sale of whatever product. Also assume that because your price is too high, that the product is a total loss of time and materials.

Example 1 Weaponsmith

Scout blaster: 3 combines, counting the 2 subcombines. Around 150 materials. About 1 minute to make. If you harvest, the time is minimal to collect the resources. (1 harvestor run will net you enough materials to make 500 guns) Materials for that gun would sell for around 3 cpu. So, that would be 450 credits.

Total damage: 1 minute 450 credits -or- (harvest your own) 1 minute 1 second(time is miniscule because of the small amount of materials needed)

Example 2 Architect

Large house: 100(around) combines, 10 walls with 10 blocks in each wall, storage mod, power core ect. Around 30 minutes to make. 25k in materials(around). If you harvest materials yourself, figure about 3 hours of harvestor play and placement). Materials for that would also sell for 3 cpu. So, that would be 75k credits.

Total damage: 30 minutes 75,000 credits -or- 3 hours 30 minutes(harvesting your own)

What is my point? Ill tell you... since I am a master architect and a master weaponsmith I am familiar with the undercutting and the frustration associated with it. But, having done both professions, I consider the WS undercutting to have an almost 0 impact.

A simple analogy... if undercutting is a bleeding cut, WS undercutting is a nick on your face while shaving and Architect undercutting is having you head cut completely off.

Now that I WS more than anything, I have no complaints about the economy, undercutters, materials or prices. Frankly, I think WS have it better than any other crafter, and some are basically spoiled.

I can take 100k pile of resources as an architect turn it into 4 architect products and make 400 thousand credits.

-or-

I can take that 100k pile of resources make it into 600 Weaponsmith products and make 9 million credits.

Ill join the weaponsmiths, which either have it too good or others have it so poor, and wont give an ounce of complaint about the trade.

Basically, just be happy you are not an architect that have to work 1000 times more, for 1000 times less.
