Thread: Do you guys have a Pricing sceme?
Do any of you have a pricing scheme? Or do you just watch the market?
I usually make my prices slightly different. I go by what i think the weapon is worth, and what i can get for it. People who treat me well often get discounts, merely for the fact that their weapons requests didn;t go along the lines of "I want a krayted fwg5 that does over 300 damage, and i want it now!"
But when toying around, this is the formula i came up with that seems to fit a mold:
(R x 3) x 15 + (C x 1000) = Price
R = Resources
C = Components
So you multiply the amount of resources used in the product(including components) times 3 (Going rate of 3cr/unit of resources), then multiply that times 15. Then, add 1k for each component put into the weapon.that is your fee.
For Example(this is a ballpark, dont know the exact numbers):
Scout blaster:
Power Handler- 9 metal, 3 ore, 3 gas = 15 units
Pistol barel - 12 metal, 3 gem, 3 ore - 18 units
Pistol itself - 55 metal + components = 55 units
Thast 88 uits of resources total
(R x 3) x 15 + (C x 1000) = Price
(88 x 3) x 15 + (2 x 1000)
(264) x 15 + 2000
3960 + 2000 = 5960creds
Round out 5960 and you get 6000 credits for the scout blaster.
Mind you, this isnt exact, and it's not what I use to charge my customers. Quality adjusts the price, and so on. But it is just an idea i had. Anyone agree with it? dissagree?
What I do is keep tabs on all my competitors, what their stats are, and what they charge. I calculate Damage Per Second (DPS) for every weapon and sort everyinging in a spreadsheet by name and DPS. This way I can see exactly where my product fits into the marketplace. I then price accordingly. That way when some l337 doood comes by and says I charge too much or my stuff sucks (actually hasn't happened to me yet) I know exactly where my weapons stand. Damage wise and price wise. I've even been known to suggest another WS if I knew I couldn't produce what the customer wanted due to lack of resources. Hate to send someone to the competitors because they may never come back but what the heck. They might check me out again because I helped them out.
Anyway, the question then becomes "is it selling?" I was just thinking of dropping the price of my my scouts, which I had listed for 4.5k and had a 58.1 DPS. That seemed like a pretty fair price considering the nice damage it puts out so why change? They weren't selling and some other WS had about the same quality for less. LOL When Silva starts charging less than I do I take notice.
Then I sold 4 yesterday at the 4.5K price. (Shrug) Guess I'll let it ride for the time being.

I go with the PaPOoMA method of pricing... that is, pulling a price out of my arse...
I go with this method as well.
I use a formula, mainly to makecreating something worthwhile instead of making less on alower gun. My scouts are 10k and they sell fast. I use the best resources to date, and even if the qualityincreases on new spawns,I keep the prices the same.
Prices all depend on the market on my server i charge 8k for scouts and i'm kidda on the low side. Your best bet is to check with other smiths see what they are charging and how their quality stacks up to yours. Every server is differnt but if you check out a good number of smiths on your sever and go for the middle ground on price you should do alright.

On Krayt weapons, I gouge as much as I can, but with holocrons going for 4-5 million, I don't even bother selling them anymore...rather, arm my guildies, who farm them and can collectively pull in 10-20+ million a day.
Just sell at whatever the market will bare.
I've been selling EVERYTHING I make (non-Advanced guns) for 5K. Considering I make factory runs in the 500+ range, my price is based off bulk and heavy movement. Nobody buys just 1 item off my vendor anymore, it's more like 3-4.
