I am looking to starting up weaponsmith but am unsure how time consuming it is hunting for the resources. I enjoy the actual crafting ie the finished product and can cope with the grind to get master but how much actual time is required to hunt down and locate resources as i only have a limited amount of time to play.
Any help gratefully appreciatiated.

PersonallyI rely heavily on SWGcraft.com and Fooman's WS tool.

Not to scare you, but initially a TON of time. There are alternatives though.
I will list a few here:
1. initially limit yourself to weapons that can be made with what resources are readily available. these are usually 1 and 2 handed weapons.
2. GET FOOMAN's SPREADSHEET enter in all your current resources.....it will automatically download the new spawns from swgcraft and tell you what is spawned that is better than your current resource.
3. Find a reliable wholesale resource dealer. This lightens your load tremendously if you have someone who can get you the resources you request at a reasonable price. I typically pay 1.2-1.5 cpu on any current spawn from my suppliers.
4. It is very easy to get sidetracked and go on personal quests to be able to make all weapons, this is a huge waste of time, read the numerous posts in this forum on what people sell the most of and concentrate on those weapons until you have enough spare time to become a full-service WS.
I am sure I am overlooking things as i have been up for nearly 24 hours now. I hope others will give you additional advice, but these are the tried and true words of someone who did it the wrong way.

Even though I am M. Artisan I pay for resource WP's. I do survey a little bit for them on my own, but the guy I work with has great prices and speed so it works out better for me this way.

I usually use a friend's webiste, theros.no-ip.info, (in addition to swgcraft) but his comp seems to have crashed since he went on vacation. He's got a nice schematic search tool to tell you which spawns are best for each schematic.
Can anyone post a link to the fooman's spreadsheet?

As said in the above posts, swgcraft.com.
My Weaponsmith is an Alt toon to my Main (Smuggler) and I have yet to find a reliable resource merchant on Radiant. So I have to gather resources on my own, plus the ones I have found that have even any resources charge outrageous prices, now I do use my 2 toons to their fullest advantage, my main places my shop and a large house, and my 2 factories. My alt places harvesters, I am able that way to have 10 going full time. It takes me ever other day, at least 45 min to an hour and a half to harvest, and to locate any resources that have shifted. Always place harvesters on resources that are at least 65% and above and use mediums when you can, sometimes there are great spots that a medium won't fit on, so have a few personals on you too.
Squiders, Radiant
Weaponsmith (1.5 boxes from master, oh boy) armorsmith, merchant
Violet Vette, Radiant
Smuggler, Pistoleer, Scout, Medic

pratically zero. I am a master Artisan, but I use my lots on other thing. I just hire a few dedicated hunters / miners and pay around 2 - 3cpu on all resources I buy

when I firststarted 75% of my time was harvesting, and directing people to help harvest.
Now 0% harvesting, 90% of the time the resource dealers come to me. 10% I go to SWG craft tell people what I'm looking for they find a good pull and deliver it a week later.

Do you have a link to this? Is it in another post? It doesn't look like it's stickied.
