Thread: Adv Stock Experimentation .. some questions
mutter didn't start typing post.. anyway I was experimenting on some Adv Stocks for about 3 hours today with some relatively decent corellian wood and good link-steel bot with decent over 600 malleability.
Getting great successes was a nightmare, and I was never able to fill out the material potential (is it even possible?)
At the end I got wildly varrying results for all great successes.... list below
32 min 32 max dmg +.325 Speed 10 wound 10 rng mod 29/29/29 HAM
36 min 38 max dmg +.325 Speed 1010 29/29/29
39 min 37 max dmg +.330 Speed 10 10 29/29/29
40 min 40 max dmg +.418 Speed 7 10 29/29/29
The more I risked initially the more damage I could get out of it but the slower it got....
I was wondering if there was some trick to getting a filled out (for the % possible) on materials for a stock
I am having the exact same experience with advanced stocks so bumping this.
My observation is that the initial combine ends up 1 min/1 max damage regardless of materials (8%) as opposed to 17% for all the other stats(with 640ish SR wood and 800 SR aluminum). After many attenpts the best I have gotten was 39min 40max +.318 Speed and 28 added HAM, but never was able to totally fill the damage bar. This is using 12 experimentation points also.
I noticed that I had to experiment the first 1 or 2 points one at a time. If I tried to experiment the whole bar I got a "moderate" success every time and only filled up the bar halfway. Also, once I got into the 70% range even a "great success" would only return a 3-4% improvement.
With my materials I *think* I should only be able to get around 72% (800+640)/2=720/1000=72%, but I routinely get 80% or so on the final damage experimentation display.
As far as I can tell the experimentation is totally bugged on these.
Anybody find any good tips for getting these to come out well besides making a thousand or so to get a good one?
Howdy;
Yeah - always have been busted (stocks). I add some to lasars just for the view sometimes - but overall it is hurtful to the HAM unless you just tap 2 or 3 to damage and rest to eff.
BTW - note that scopes and stocks are only seen in the view mode. Have had folks show me their weapon and say neat scope isn't it - but sadly, unless viewed in trade mode this does not show. Sure seems like an easy thing to fix - wonder why never addressed !?!
Also gonna bump this. I was discussing just this with a WS friend the other day, and thinking how noone really mentioned it on the forums. As said before, even with 12 exp points you can't max the dmg bar, and if you try to dump all your points at once in the initial experiment, it comes out invariably poor....definitely needs some looking into.

Totally forgot to put this in the list, but yeah, it's hosed.
It suffers similar symptoms of the Projectile Feed Mechanism experimentation (prior to the fix).
For the time being, this is the method I use to experiment on Adv Stocks: Don't put all points in at once, but put about 6-7 points in at once until you get a great success. Then with your remaining 3-4 points, put those all in at once as well. After experimenting on some 50 stocks, I found this was the only way I could possibly achieve the appropriate stats.
Thanks for the tip Ace! Starting with 6 points was the key for me to make a perfect stock.
I thought I had tried every possible combination but starting with 6 I could max the damage bar with 11 points and even have a point left over for HAM!
For me the start was 8% - 6 points would usually get to 50% (bad) but about 1 in 5 to 53%(better). Then I just filled the bar from there.
Final result 40min 40max .314 speed, 26 HAM. Much better than I was able to get before.
Yep, gotta thank you here Ace. I thought I had tried every way of making these stupid things, but had never started with exactly 6 points before and waited for a great success (probably did it once or twice and ended up with moderates or goods, and figured it worked just like if i used all points at once for first exp). I had been doing 1 point, then following it by dumping all with each successive exp.
So to everyone, the 6 point method does the trick. This little tip makes a nice Xmas "stocking" stuffer /chuckle...

Off topic but I was wondering about this myself. Made an elite carbine today with scope and stock and it came out looking like some kind of assault rifle. However it only looked that way in inventory or when dropped on the ground. Is there some graphics setting that has to be enabled for these extras to appear or is this just something that never got looked into?

I was playing around with scopes/stocks/barrels in an attempt to customize a few pistols. I was able to equip the weapons and still see the customizations. When I asked my friends about the weapons they stated they saw none of the customizations I was talking about. My first thought was that their display settings were too low.

What good is all that damage when ya skip attacks using /aim and take massive wounds using /prone...?
Rifle Stock: 1 min 1 max dmg +.846 Speed Wd 2 Ideal 30 17/17/17
Carbine Stock: similar but with lower HAM.
