Thread: Logix: Question please...are loot drop schematics the future of smithing?

/agree
Loot drops are cool to intro the weapon.. but i think at some point it should become a perm schem, or cease to exist.
More valid? Resource wait periods which everyone has to endure is hardly more vaild than basically changing the mechanic of smithing from the way it has operated since launch. Obviously you don't get my point...we are crafters, not assemblers. If you can't see what kind of problem all this loot dropped schematic and components are going to be not just now, but on down the road as more items come into the game then you need to take the blinders off. Resources are fair...wait long enough something better will come along. The loot drops seperates things right down the middle...either you have the connections to farm, or the cash to buy, or you are SOL. Think new smiths have it hard waiting to get new resoruces? How hard are they gonna have it when every popular item has to be farmed or bought beforethey can craft it?

Then simply put DONT.......the only thing that creats "extremely" high prices, is people paying that much creating an economy based on said prices,,,,,,,, if you dont pay,,,,,,, they cant sell........ if you want to change the argument that you cant compete with those smiths who WILL buy at over-prices upping the market prices ......
then simply put.......welcome to capitalism
We have our goods, we can craft them, we can sell them.......nuff said
(a more vaild debate question would be about the poor resource shifts going months without a sign of certain resources let alone crap ones.... this puts new smiths in a timesink to "sit around and wait" just to get on par.)
If they want to say this is not acceptable, they had better be quick. I have been making these guns in factory quantiites since day 1 of live.

Oddly enough, you can make a schematic out of a schematic. Right now, I'm trying to pursue an answer as to whether or not this is intended (I would not recommend doing this until it has been cleared as perfectly legit), because it would effectively mean you could mass-produce these "enhanced" weapons from schematics. Which would be nice, meaning we could provide these weapons for sale ourselves, as opposed to Joebob bugging us to make three guns from his schematic.

Logix was talking bout the new looted schematics from the themeparks... The featherweight fwg5, enhanced E11, the new RB... These will be fairly common weapons due to the fact that everyone can do the themeparks... Not to mention the uber components that these themeparks themselves provide...
But yes... We do it everyday... Make schematics from schematics... We have the baseline schematic we modify to the best of our ability and resources(otherwise known as experimentation)... From that prototype we can either build a new LIMITED schematic (such as those used to make parts for those OTHER schematics requiring factory ident parts) to be used in the factory or a finished piece... Logix... what you are doing is saying the very prinicple of crafting and using factories is in POSSIBLE violation...I know it is a bit of a stretch on what you said but in essence its the same thing...
As far as mass producing these weapons they should have made the schematics require looted components if they wished to keep the numbers down... I know for most weaponsmiths on most serversit'sa race to see who can produce them the fastest...
It is my belief that given the time and luck it would be possible to make factory runs of even the high end looted schematics (Nightsister Lance)... What basically you are telling me is that if someone came to me with 10 identical NS vibro motors and the Schematic I'm not SUPPOSED tomake 4 identical lances but only make 3 lances and have 2 motors left to either of our whims???
Everyone and their brother has brought me these new schematics in the last few days...what am i supposed to do? Tell themI can't make them their requestedweapons due to SOE wavering over the fine points of the schematics? What that will do is loose me my customer base... And i'm no where near the most prolific smith on my server... I look at it this way... I've got three chances to make the weapon with each schematic...Very rarely, evenin a research center; does the first shot on a weapon come out perfect... I'm going to make the best of it that i can...

I hate to say it, but we asked for it. Careful what you wish for, I suppose.
But yeah, I don't really know right now. I don't want to be a smith like this, either, none of us do. Combatants want loot, crafters want our economy not ruined by loot and crafters also want new stuff. So this is what we end with as our compromise.

Bear in mind, we still have this famed "Weapon Balance" publish coming up in 2006 or whatever. I really do think we will see new guns for ourselves and not obtained through Vader, just a matter of time.

You have been making Featherweight FWG5s since release day?
