Thread: is 12p a must?
Hate to say it but yes,
2 points means: 6-8 less sac with the rest being the same.
And that is for final build
Now add extra 2 points on each componet... etc.

oh wow.... any tips on how i may go about gathering loads of money to get the 12p suit?
Im not sure what server your on but the prices of all CAs have come down quite a bit., Or at least on radiant. Saw a 20pt suit sell for 8mil. Ive been considering getting inot a craftign profession also and I think that on top of the creds for a 20pt suit you have to look into the higher end resources and the cost of buying those also.

10-pointer with great resources > 12-pointer with mediocre resources.
A must? Yes. But only when you're in position to utilize it.
yes you can survive very well as a 10 pointer at least on shadowfire.
I have seen a lot of new weaponsmiths trying to jump on the bandwagon thinking they will make millions off one gun. But there resources are just not up to par.
So here is how you iwll make money to buy your suit and resources
Make the noobie weapons, easy resources, and easy to cap stats. And best of all only one or two people make the noobie guns on our server
you could on Wanderhome , I do and I'm a hack. You can use crap material as well , just charge accordily and the weapons will sell. Don't expext to be an overnight millionaire and you should do fine.
Someone above said to make low level weapons, I do that as well, you can do a real volume of sales on tat. enough to support you in a resonable way
You could go the route of alot of the older weaponsmiths:
- take your time
- read SWGCraft 'current resources' religiously
- survey-sample-place harvesters. small ones at first...sell the resources if you don't need them, then get the bigger harvies
- as you get the resources, start making low level weapons
- make higher end weapons as you get the resources
- keep an eye out for the good bargains on CA's
- learn the profession from the inside-out
Not a bash on the guys who can afford to become an instant high-end shop, but alot of people seem to think that's the only way to do it and unfortunately there have been many that have tried and got burned-out. It took me 3 months after making MWS before I could make a decent melee weapon, 6 months before I could make a gun that took a ABPH, and 10 months before I was 12 point. As the previous guys have said, WS'ing is all about resources and unless you have the cash to blow on many resource deeds, you need to have patience.
If you're getting into the profession to be the next 'UBER' WS on the block, you need to have the creds to get there fast.
If you're getting into it for a challenge over a long period of time, don't worry about becoming a 12 point immediately, have fun and enjoy the ride.
The above post is a very realistic one.
I had money and spent a while getting the 12pt suit and the resources so I could make good weaponsstraight of the bat . Not great weapons, good weapons.
Great weapons took a bit of understanding in the profession but fortunantly for me I did this 1 week before CU so time CU came, the rules were re-written and wasnt really in a disadvantage.
Here is my advice if you can afford it:
1) Do get a 12pt suit
2) Choose 1 or 2 weapons you want to make well
3) Get the best resources for those two weapons
4) Consult other WS and get their advice. Good WS wont care about competition and freely give you good advice. They can tell you the best resource for a given weapons you choosen.
Dont assume you will make a lot of money just because you now have all the resources and 12pt suit yet. Reputation takes a while to gather. If you consistantly make good weapons people will come to you.
Also there are nuances of how to get the best of out of a set of cells/krayt/gorax/etc takes time. Exactly where to put points so you dont over experiment in one area and waste 1 or even 1/2 a point.
If you dont have money, then theres is a huge market for people that want low end weapons but cant find them. Dont expect to make much money as these people dont have it but its a steady trade. Just make sure you dont use your best resources.
