Thread: Where did my last point go?
I have had the same experience, and the guys on Teamspeak can assure you my remarks were not *edited*, lol
My best guess is that you were at something like 96.49999% and the resource cap was at 97%, so essentially you had done all you could with your resources. Those hidden decimals will bite you in the arse.
FWIW, if I have one little tick left on the experimentation bar, I have to think long and hard before I put another point there, because this type of thing seems to happen more often than not and that point might be better used somewhere else.

Yeah I have had similar experiences, I have thrown in another point into damage when there was just a tiny fragment of green bar left and had not increase at all in damage.
If I am in that boat I tend to think twice about it now as well and put it into SAC or speed instead.
Yea in retrospect I should have put it into speed (since sac was capped). But I figured that speed can easily be sliced with better results than what 1 point can do on the final combine.
I would have thought that if resources were capped i would have at least seen a slight increase in min damage. or at least 0.1 increase in dps or something? I guess I'll just have to chalk it up to lesson learned.

Yeah I have done it in the hope that at least the min damage might have increased a little.
One on those lessons that are learned the hard way ![]()

If you know you are only 1% away from the cap, using a whole point is a waste IMHO, use it on speed, SAC, anything... Get a better all round weapon.
correct but he didn't knew if he was close to the cap.
And by looking at your resources i'm going for crafting cap on this one. It did increase not by a lot so you didn't bug it but used it. Might not have been the best way to use it but still. It's good to learn a lesson like this next time you will be sure to know what's your cap with the resources you have.

When I was an AS I knew what % any experimentation would cap at, and if I was going to make a loot item I would practice with standard components first....

That's not really an excuse. Craft a test with your buff and determine what your resource cap is before using your million credit enhancers. I know my Featherweights cap out lower at like 95% and laser rifles cap out about 97%. If I get within 1% I usually bypass dmg and go with speed, I also look at the min dmg and see how that is affected. Sometimes min dmg will go up but max stays the same depending on how the previous exp's went.
