Thread: Template for Weaponsmith? What else do you do on the side?

I can't speak for the other combat classes, but TKM is great on its own. Meditation to get rid of wounds, lots of great specials. I'm a master WS/TKM - kinda weird for a master WS to not use weapons much, but hey, it's fun. I grabbed scout and one level of terrain negotiation (exploration 1) - I like to hunt on the adventure planets, and no terrain negotiation and no harvesting ability = no fun. I didn't do the master artisan route - maybe you could use that to make powerups while you build your business and drop it later. The two components you need from MA (power conditioner for stun baton and control unit for SG82) are easily found on the bazaar (at least on Scylla), so not having MA doesn't really hurt me that much. TKA can be a bit frustrating without the terrain negotiation when things start to try to kite you on a planet like Dathomir that seems to be all hills and mountains.

I strongly recommend a combat prof - I don't have an alt, and I'd go insane with no fighting ability, spending all my time in the workshop and running from mobs while tending harvesters. Might not be the most profitable template around, but a lot of fun.

Well if it is your alt char, i would just stick to mastering artisian / weapon smith / merchant (get all the bonuses in maintanance reduction, advertise, place merchant tents, and be able to dress your vendors up).

Then you have a few points left.. Scout is a good place to put them for your surveying pleasure, where terrain neg. and mask scent are usefull tricks :-)

If it not a second account king ofalt (but more of a force thing) you could consider droping master artisian (just order those eletronic gizmo's from amaster artisian by the crates), and use the remaining points for .. I'd say TKA (if you solo a lot) or Rifleman (if you do a lot of group hunts)

What i'd meant to say was that I wanted to play around with alternate combat professions without dropping anything from my first char (the grind for carb/cm is painfully slow - carbineer really only comes into its own at the higher skill levels.), and there's just enough skill points left to master ONE elite prof.

I guess i can rely on a guildmate to take care of the merchant end (we've already got two hybrid toons who don't even have advertising 3 due to skill point restrictions.)

I must be insane. AFTER reading the **edit** weaponsmith from hell(weaponsmith gripe) thread, I've decided to start an alt char weaponsmith. Must be the curmugdeonly **edit** in me(Actually, I was playing an alt while tarquinas was down and decided crafting was pretty fun).

I also wanted to play around with the Went and played around with the character builder:
Master Artisan: 77 pts
Master Weaponsmith: 63 pts
Novice merchant and Advert 3: 18 pts

Leaving 92 left to master 1 elite combat prof(fencer/tka/etc or rifleman/carb/pistoleer)

What do you guys do with your other skill points? Are there other skills i should take up to benefit weaponsmith? Which of the elite combat profs is good on its own?

I beat things over the head with hammers. After a day of running around and checking harvestors and trying to drum up buisness, it's good to smash a Squills head.

Ive seen quite a few people on valcyn do MWS and M Smuggler....that gives them a way to slice there own wpns for sale and that also gives them some pretty good pistol attacks they can use if they are attacked.

My main character is a Wookiee WS. He has M. Artisan, M WS, M Rifleman, novice Marksman 4/0/0/1 and Novice Medic 0/0/0/0 with 1 Skill Point left. I've found Rifles good since I can solo a few things and act as back up for fellow guild members if they need. Plus Rifleman has gotten a few nice rifles lately.

youll want to control your own vendors or find a merchant that will buy the crates from you, its a headache otherwise.

im MWS/master smuggler/merchant dabbler.

i have another account i use for TKM/Doc, and i also have a jedi to play with so the weaponsmith is just something i use for money to support my jedi habit and something i wanted to be since i was reading the beta boards way back when

I find master merchant is only needed once. Set your vendors up and then decorate them, then drop everything other than the reduced matinence fees, if your vendors are static you wont need it, so you got those 92 poitns and you got everything you wanted to get out of merchant, I took my 92 and threw em into politican for fun, I have fun managing a city and make money on my weaponsmith. What allot of people do is take up armorsmith as a duel crafting allot of money can be made in that respect.

I tried to do Commando (Flame 4) with Master weaponsmith and Boy did it SUCK! I could not have the luxuries of Scout or Medic that every fighter SHOULD HAVE. I look at it that a half crafter/fighter character will not be equally strong on both (Whether it not being able to run uphill or not having the ability to craft power conditioners) and it will cause much annoyance to you.

So I say either make your guy a healer/weaponsmith, politician/Weaponsmith, or a Dual crafter... Not much else you can do unless you do it halfassed and its going to hurt you serverly on the "Having" fun aspect

I'm a Master Weaponsmith/Master Rifleman. Its the best of both worlds. I get an incredibly hard
crafting profession, and a very nice combat profession to offset it. There are times when I don't want to be near my shop, so I have the ability to kill everything in sight. Other times, I just want to relax and make some quality weapons for my guildies. The best part is being able to craft a weapon for myself exactly the way that I want it.

Any combat profession would work as long as the skill points are available. You will need a change of pace profession to continue having fun.

On the way to Master Weaponsmith I picked up Master Artisan, and I'm working towards Pistoleer 0-0-4-0. Completing thetemplate are Scout 4-0-0-0, Marksman 0-4-0-4, andNovice Medic. If I could squeeze Novice Entertainer back in there I would. There's nothing like being able to tweak your own mind wounds away...

MWS, mrifle, merchant 3000, artisan 4044, marksman 4000, medic 2000.

If you drop medic, you can get master artisan.

You can replace rifle with swords or TKA since those are the two other classes that are pretty good by themselves.
