Thread: Everything you ever wanted to know about KRAYT weapons

I always get tons of questions about krayt weapons, so here is what I know. I am a master weaponsmith on Kettemoore that specializes in custom weapons. I have made many krayt weapons so far, and have learned the ropes. It is possible with given materials on Kettemoor atm, for example, to make a sliced FWG5 with greater tissue and an enhanced projectile feed mechanism that does 381 max dmg (assumes all advanced subcomps, best materials that has ever been on server, great/great combines, and perfect 35% dmg slice), and adding a 32% dmg powerup could result in 502+ max damage... I have yet to experience this perfect scenario, but have made ones that go well over 300 damage before powerup and well over 400 dmg with powerup.

Krayt tissue is looted from krayt dragon corpses (as opposed to harvested or sampled). To find krayts, search on Tatooine. They are large, ugly, mean, have 50k or so ham, and a ferocity of 20 (compare to rancors with a ferocity of 10). A tip: they have significant resistances to most everything except COLD. The two weapons that do cold damage are SG82 rifles and cryoban grenades, the latter are commando only. I make and sell mastercrafted and optionally mastersliced versions of these weapons to help you on your krayt hunts.

The tissuedrops off of maybe a third or less of krayts. It usually drops in sets of 1-8 tissues or so. Note that krayts can also drop scales, which are used in armor crafting, but you should talk to a master armorsmith about that. Krayt tissue is used as an optional component during the creation of power handlers, which are then crafted into a firearm. There are at least 2 types of krayt tissue, the lesser tissue which gives +30 max dmg and -0.3 speed, and the greater tissue which gives +58 max dmg and -0.56 speed. Their name is the same, you have to examine it to see which you have. The greater tissue drops off of Canyon Krayts at least, and is much rarer than the lesser tissue. Note that the tissues have serial numbers. Typically all the tissues that drop from a certain mob will have the same serial number. However, it is possible to get tissues from different krayts that came from the same lair that have the same serial number. It is very important to get as many tissues of the same serial number, as the guns that require more than one handler need each handler to be factory made with tissue with the SAME serial number. If you are in a hunting party, it is wise after you are done to trade among yourselves so that each person has the fewest distinct serial numbers to maximize the possibilities of what you can make out of the tissue.

It is most economical to use the tissue on guns that have only one power handler. Guns that need more than one handler need factory made handlers, and as such the creation of the schematic will waste one tissue (thus guns need either 1 tissue or at least 3 tissues). Here is the list of weapons, and the MINIMUM number of tissues of the same serial number that you would need in order to make an attempt at a weapon, obviously this assumes no failures:

1 tissue: FWG5, scout, scatter, DL44 pistol, D18 pistol, DH17 pistol, DH17 carb, E11 carb, E11 rifle, DLT20a rifle, launcher pistol

3 tissues: SR Combat pistol, Power5 pistol, SG82 rifle, republic blaster

4 tissues:EE3 carbine, laser carbine, laser rifle

5 tissues: DX2 pistol, elite carb, acid stream launcher, LLC, LBC, flamethrower, heavy acid rifle, rocket

6 tissues: DXR6 carb, Jawa ion rifle, HPBC

11 tissues: T21 rifle (note I have never seen 11 tissues of the same serial number, this is probably not feasible and may not even be possible)

The following guns do NOT have power handlers, and so CANNOT be krayt enhanced: Striker Pistol, Tangle pistol, Spraystick, Tusken Rifle

Happy Hunting!

Stats may be random, I've seen 30, 40, 44, 50-something, and heard of ones even higher. Interestingly, the 50 had a worse speed bonus than the common 30s.

It is currently possible for one krayt to drop up to 11 tissues, but this is being "fixed" in the next big patch to a maximum of 9.

NOTE : Ancient Krayt can drop 125 max damage tissue. Ultra rare spawn tho and even rarer drop.

So in light of that ... a 125 max tissue + a 20 max high velo feed mech. Well on my server that would put a FWG at 346 BASE ... PRIOR to slice.

These higher damage tissues HAVE been confirmed but again.. they are ultra rare.

I sure hope they come up with other critters in the game that drop tissues or components with the same effects. It'd be a shame to have people constantly camping the Krayt graveyard just to get these things.

For the record, I'd also suggest that people take Krayt tissue to only MASTER weaponsmiths. And I'm saying that as someone who's not going to be a master for a LONG time. Why? Two words: critical failure. The chances of this decrease significantly, from what I understand, when you hit master (although I've only had one or two critical failures thus far). Even if this weren't the case, a master can get a lot more out of that tissue. Hell, if I was a 0404 weaponsmith I'd take my krayt tissue to a master to have made into guns for myself.

As a master, I have seen a lot more crits as of late. Those and moderate results. The only thing more bothersome than a crit is run of moderate successes....you know what the gun could have been and see what it is.

Ironically, the handler I made last night that had 3 moderates poofed in a final combine crit.

Still, I have seen and heard from others masters that crits seem to be more plentiful.

aggreed.....CURSE YOU MODERATE!!!

i can accept crit fail....because then it is all or none...but to work your way up experimenation only to get moderate after moderate.....makes me wonder if i hit master or not....jeez! i swear i had better experimentation at tech 3 then now. not in terms of end result but in number of moderate successes.

tools and station effectiveness IMHO are not working and dont improve squat! so when it comes to using tissues....i sweat ALOT!!! never had a crit fail on a gun..but have had one or two borked experimenttions dropping the effectivness..

I have a quesion for all you Mater WS's out there. Say I have a +25 HVfeed mech and +99, -1.10 Krayt tissue. Tell me what kind of scatter you would make. Where would you experiment and where wouldn't ya and why? On my server scatters can reach 105-177 2.2. Does this mean I am gonna probably be in the 1.1 speed range with the tissue? Any way to bring that up while still making an uber damage gun? Any help would be great. I do not want to waste this tissue. Thx fellas,

177+25+99=301

2.2-1.1 = 1.1

thus you would get a 105-301 spd 1.1 scatter ...provided all experimentation turned out.

for any enhancements just add to the BASE gun stats.

as for where i would experiment ...obviously only for dmg/spd as you wouldn get those stats if i didn't. probably have maybe 1-2 points left over if all great successes...typical with feed mech guns..in which case it would go to ham reduction.

Thx for the reply! As a BH, I am constantly amazed about the guns you Master WS can put out.

So we can replace Blaster power handler by tissus. but is it possible to replace Blaster-pistol Barrel ??

If yes where and who drop it pls ?

No cyber you still have to have Blaster Power handlers. The krayt tissue goes into a slot ON them, to make them better. But they are most definitely still required in most firearms

I think Cyber is asking about the other components... like a barrel or a feed mech. I have heard of certain advanced parts being dropped with insane speed reductions. I have NO clue what drops them tho.

I've actually got a set of 11 identical Krayt tissues, the plan is to try and make a T-21 from them for my friend's birthday =)
