Right on.
But in reality some people are just jerks. More so online because they do not have to face you in person. Best thing you can do is ignore the jerks. There are lots of people out there who are friendly and helpful, they just don't get your blood boiling so you don't remember them as much.
Agree whole heartedly. Sadly this is not just a limited phenomena. Player classes are more often then not getting wrangled into defined stereotypes. My MBH is takeing alot of flack from hologrinders and jedi. Simply because all MBH are blackmailers, and sadists. There is something terribly wrong when everyone is haveing to pay for a bad rap because others behave in a certain way.
If being a master weaponsmith is tweeking you this bad. Grab up a ton of cash and retire. Stop spreading the impression that we are all jerks. I understand that pet peevs exist. I have a few of my own. I dislike players that find a cute way to make a name like neuter me please, or Iwill raapeyu. Though you can show these frustrations in the game by how you conduct yourself. If you hate inane questions make your character unsearchable. If someone sends me a tell and they have a obscene name I politely say. I prefer not to play with people that are oscene. You might want to look elsewhere for your help. This is not too hard to do.
Most people will take the hint if you say what they did was out of line. You could say for example. Please do not post on our forum looking for trade. If you are looking for a smith on a server to help you just say what server, and leave your name and someone should get back to you. We do not need to be jerks. We can be firm. There is a difference. When you behave with insults. All you do is make yourself look like a fool, and to a lesser extent you make us look like a pack of fools.

Thank you for your apology. We all know it can get stressful on these forums sometimes. And as for the posts violating forum rules, well they aren't, they are forum suggestions, but sometimes when you are in a crunch you just post, you don't wander around looking.
Nice post Trean. I do think most of us aren't obnixious jerks though. I've been around the boards for a while now and have enjoyed many different discussions here. But sometimes even the nicest of us gets a little cranky, then he should definately take your advice and go cool off instead of posting! One think I have found though is that sometimes posts will sound much harsher that they were intended. On a message board you can't hear the persons tone or see their facial expression so it is easy for what you say to be taken wrong.
The "dumb" questions I don't really mind.... usually. What I hate is when people turn this forum into the classifieds section. "wanna buy a scythe on Ed server" threads I can't stand. But like you suggest I normally ignore them. (not always though

This community works two ways: If you cannot find the time to be considerate for the flow of our forums, we cannot find the time to guide you to your answers. We have good discussions and insights that take place here and we'd rather not have them spammedaway by another dozen trade advertisements and macro requests.

Logix, your feelings for the flow of the forums are held by many, but then again, it is the exact reason I posted this thread. Two posts above you, the guy with the huge ugly sig, that guy is one of the main reason the weaponsmith community has its current stigma. The one star idea works because those that don't care to see the repeated question posts can turn the star filter on and all will be fixed, but blasting people's questions just makes people angrywith us. But as coorespondant you should definitely be more willing to answer questions, than some weaponsmiths that live on this forum.

Asking questions that are in the FAQ and getting huffy when someone directs em to said FAQ is just asking for trouble. If you take the time to post to tell them to look at the FAQ, why don't you just answer the question? I can see you saying, that answering the question doesn't solve the problem because then they will just make another post when they have another question, versus looking at the FAQ. Now for one, I personally have never in depth read the FAQ that is glued up there, but after glancing through it, there is much to be sought after. Although it does cover a large base of ideas that are involved in Weaponsmithing, it doesn't cover everything it should cover and it is indeed imo a hard to read layout.
The FAQ may not cover as much as it should, and it may be a bit difficult to read, but a lot of posters never even bother to look at it in the first place. It's one thing to say "I have a question about 'X', and I didn't see anything about it in the FAQ"; it's quite another thing when people post the same questions over and over that are clearly contained in the FAQ and other stickied threads, such as "What's the fastest way to grind WS" or "Do you have an uber-grinding macro plz". I'm all for helping people who have legitimate questions, butlazy ones just clutter up our forum, rarely post any interesting questions or topics that furthers our craft, and are gone and grinding on the next profession as soon as they finish WS. Likewise with the trade-posters. They don't give a damn about us; why should we give them the time of day? Just my 2-creds.

Either you use the sources of information you have available, or you don't. A collection of information is always more useful than a single answer to a question.
But I think you are missing the point of a FAQ. It is NOT intended to read the FAQ as a whole, it is intended that you look for the question you have and then read only the anser to that question. If you read the whole FAQ much better, but no one is using the force here... ;-)
So I think what you do to respond to a question just depends on how lengthy the answer will be.
If you can answer the question in a few sentences, do so, else point them to the FAQ when you know it can be found there.
